What a talent ,what a beautiful gift you have Corinne ,to be able to sing so beautifully it isnt every day that thru utube I stumble upon a jewel such as this . Well done, the world is a sweeter place .
@RobertBeowulf Hi- Thanks for your encouragement. I really appreciate it. I Love to sing and folk music bit me when I was a child. I didn't know it was folk at the time, I just know I loved the songs and the singers.
It's a shame that England has become so plastic nowadays, while Scotland and Ireland still have this tradtional culture that's recognised worldwide. We've only got ourselves to blame, really, allowing our name and old culture to be destroyed by the colonists.
We used to sing this when I was at school in the days before the destruction by the 'liberals' of England's ancient folk culture took place.Beautifully sung.
@seaxwielder Yes I remember singing quite a few traditional folk songs at junior school too. We had a book calles "singing together" which was used along with a radio programme!
Do you remember Spanish Maidens, On yonder hill, The grey Goose, Oh Soldier Soldier. They were all in the same book. Most of them were also watered down versions, but still gave us a taste of folk music, which set the seeds for later interest.
@Utgardchaos Unaccompanied singing makes up a big part of the English folk tradition.Work songs and ballads like this were usually sung without instruments.
@seaxwielder Maypole dancing. Yes we did. I grew up in Malton in North Yorkshire. We had Maypole dancing in junior school. I must confess, I wasn't very good at it..I used to get confused and the ribbons would end up in the wrong place. We also had country dancing classes every week. Strip the willow and all that! I feel very privileged to have had that kind of upbringing.

Corinne you mention 'Singing together',so you were probably brought up in the tradition back in the post war years of the 1950's?Same as me.We also had a maypole which we brought out and danced round, weaving in and out-even though our playground was tarmac!
Lovely bit of singing Corrine. We are looking folk songs sung like this for my wife to sing in our Folk Duo we have just got started. Keep up the good work:)

Brilliant, we need more of this and less of the noise masquerading as music. I would stay on my high horse but this music is so disarming!
Never give this up, If I ever acquire the means to have you sing at a large scale event be sure to give me a reminder.

Hello, would you be so kind as to recommend some music to me, that is like this.
Not so much with instruments, but more so focused on the female voice?
it would be appreciated.

Far too modern.
