  • mattavina: Yes, we did pitch yeast.

bpatton 1: The bottom of the bucket is in tact with no holes. I only drilled holes in the sides with several right near the bottom.

TheFishinMagician12: I am glad it may help you out. The press should be great for pressing grapes.

  • do you pitch yeast for the ferment

  • is the bottom of your bucket cut out or did you just drill holes in the bottom?

  • I LOVE that !!! That was great !!!! I make wine and have been looking for a way to press my fruit out....

tHANK YOU GUYS FOR SHAREING . vERN

  • Great press; I do have a question; are you using a in sink garbage disposal as a grinder?

  • @ForefitureServices Yup, that's a sink garbage disposal. We initially bought a cheap one ($60) and it wasn't powerful enough. Kept stalling. Had to return it and get a higher-powered one ($120). But it works great!

  • cool press man. Nice work!

  • can you give me the dimensions of your press., please i like the design

  • @heyrakes If you search for "whizbang cider press", you'll find similar plans for the press.

The grinder is made from a wooden stool, a garbage disposal, and a stainless steel mixing bowl.

  • how many gallons did you get from a bushel?

  • For every 15 pounds of apples, we got about a gallon of cider. So that's be, what, a little over 3 gallons per bushel? (48 pounds of apples = bushel)

  • Thanks, I get about 2.5 gallons per bushel w/ my grinder and press..so your higher yield is probably mostly due to the finer grinding! Nice job on your setup!!
