  • some really good stuff here

  • some sweet info here

  • Again, foolish South Korea began to assert the origin of zen.

The origins are India and China.

Zen of Japan came from China.

  • no bhakti (devotion) without jnana (insight) - old yogic proverb

  • we maintained these incredible psychic conversations and thought forms but the physical always maintained a meaningless boundary, still we hid interspersed, for love of tiferet, the boundary began to disperse, amish boobastet, the tao of seen and unseen, this place is a spirit place, but keep you skull in your head, at least physically, it is delusion, because Goddess is celestial but also undeniably physical, everything is Goddess. we were like angel fairies

  • Nature of the universe is love,... Y? H v H? 12+1+()12? even on atOmic level we can see free will,....? Unbrain is bigger than brain,... think about 96, 69,... and the 1. I'm sure You're one as me today,.. Zen in the end of love is the same as 19 in Quran 74,30,... think about love inside each H-U-man bEing and even in mankind,... Č"LOVEgO"K = 19(?) in LJUDJE = 112? 1 = 3,? 3 = Pi? Pi = pi?
  • @KLMNOQPiPan amen brother

  • thats is my point, shouldnt exist alternatives, because there is no real path, forhaps they force a shock between reality and structure in order to achieve satori faster, but even satori is questionable, for example does satori remain with you or you achieve for just a few moments and spent the rest of your life trying to achieve again, is satori like trowing the perfect ball, or is just like breathing, i understand that no zen master would give me a clue hahaha.

  • When I heard of zen I thought it was closely linked to a drug culture. Now I realize that is far from the truth. Drugs and alcohol block the way of chan, harmony is loving everything.......including yourself.

  • sounds exactly like LSD :)

  • if the world has no shape and everything is just the same then why is zen budism so organized or structured i mean i understand the necessity of this from a religion point of view but even the original buda was not this severe. i understand the meaning in eat when you need and sleep when you need but why being so modest, forhaps should zen be more freely and less traditional structured, can anyone give me a reason please. thanks.

  • @animejoao Good question! I've heard teachers say they study forms to become intimate forms. However, Toni Packer is someone who came from a traditional Rinzai Zen background, questioned the traditions and dropped a lot of the formal practice. You could look her up if you're interested in alternatives.

  • WHACK! the mind is dropped. the past is forgotten. tomorrow is a mere idea. smell now.

  • the past is gone...never to return....the future has yet to happen.....so if anything has substance it is the now....for that is all you have.

  • ZEN - A word that fits all and nothing...

  • Although appreciating the past and the future, focus on the Now.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing

  • zen is not about pealing potato's and meditating upon the univers

zen it's just about pealing potato's

"Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes"

    Alan Watts

  • wait i'm already freaking the fuck out about existence, did I achieve Zen or am I just freaking out...

  • @demonatemu If you are completely giving yourself to the experience of freaking out then you are practicing Zen. If you are freaking out and really clinging and obsessing about the experience then you are just freaking out.

  • Seeing Buddha Mind is Zen. It doesn't have anything to do with New Age here & now.

  • @mujaku you must no nothing of what Zen is about...

  • and they try to please each other, and are happy when they see their partner happy. This is probably the receipt of happiness which can be related to the life in general. If by "sex" you also mean " making love" I disagree about it being bad for you. It is just another part of our lives. IMHO. Peace.

  • As far as I know, one of the important concepts in buddism is love and compassion. Peopple need to try to be the best they can be, help other people and see the beauty in the world. At the same time they should have courage to accept the life as it is(accept doesn't mean they shouldn't try to make it better)I really think that people don't make the distinction between just sex and making love. When people are in love, even the act of sex is different. There is an emotional bond between partners

  • @TEHAStin

Buddha said that is the act of the villagers, coarse, low. Try and mention it during a formal meeting and see what is the reaction of the people. They'll call you a pervert

  • FOR JAPANESE. WHAT'S THE TILE OF THIS SONG? PLY REPLY

COPY AND PASTE TO SEARCH. .THANK YOU SO MUCH MY HERO. . GODBLESS

  • The first step is to leg go of your views. It is, at the same time, the last step.

  • There's what people want to believe is the truth, then there's everything else. After that, is the truth.

  • True lovers of God also practice detachment from all worldly attractions. I love to meditate, contemplate, and listen to zen music in my zen garden and after emptying myself and becoming detached, I fill myself with the Sprit of the One. It is an extraordinary bliz - to empty oneself and fill the emptiness with Him, my true love (better, MUCH better than sex). It is a true becoming one with the Creator.

  • True followers of Christ also practice detachment from all worldly attractions. I love to meditate, listen to zen music in my zen garden and instead after emptying myself and becoming detached, I fill myself with the Sprit of the One. It is an extraordinary bliz - to empty oneself and fill the emptiness with Him, my true love (better, MUCH better than sex. It is a true becoming one.

  • Why does he hit the monk at the beginning?

This might be a bad question, but I would be happy if someone could reply.

  • He who seeks it, shall never find it. He that turns his back on it - it shall find him.

  • Ah, Amazing? You too tell.

    Harry Hoo

  • Zen's heaven is the void, there will be no desires, no envy, no suffering once you have enlighten, that is why there is no sex, no meat, no wine for monks cause all those things create desires and you can never become one with the universe if you still have desires

  • @hoahoe your wanting to become one with the universe, is too, a desire. The only way to detach from desire, is to realize or live that desire. Once experienced, one can move on. This is my understanding of Zen.

  • WHAT IS THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN TAKE DRUG AND ZAZEN OR TAKE DRUG AND MAKE LOVE . THE ONLY DIFERENCE IS you think THERE IS A DIFERENCE, BUT THEY ARE SENSUAL ALL, THEY COME FROM THINKINGS FROM SELF.OPEN YOUR MIND SO YOU WILL OPEN YOUR ZEN.

  • i would rather be a peaceful warrior. that's as real as you can get. it has nothing to do with religion, you always live in the now(present), and all your abilities are super-concentrated because of that focus to the present. I think everybody should check out the book "Peaceful Warrior", it's a true story and it's life-changing.

  • WHAT IS ZEN ? ZEN IS WHAT YOU DEICIDE HE IS ! AND THAT IS ZEN !!!

  • @LEVRAIVRAIZEN idiot

  • @ravving idiot...idiot...idiot...lol!

  • @LEVRAIVRAIZEN idiot

  • ammazing...

  • When you deny Jesus as the Lord and God and you then proceed to believe that you can bring a direction to the Lord through some medium in the name of a religion of any kind and including "self help" direction such as meditation, then you deny yourself access to the kingdom of God and the saving power by faith in the one and only God. Zen has no attributes whatsoever in the realms of Godly spiritual existence, however, it does have extreme dominance in the satanic realms of the spirits. Be warned

  • @DrAntonyWalker You realize your nuts riight? The devil is a superstitious and silly myth, and jesus is just an icon of a dead hippie on a stick. Grow up and give up fairy tales.

  • @DrAntonyWalker Your the kingdom of God, don't sell yourself short.

  • @DrAntonyWalker Loooool !!!

  • @DrAntonyWalker

    You're only fooling yourself.

  • Zen is bullshit and Ill tell you why. Buddhism goal is to lose the "illusion of self". This is impossible. The human condition IS self awareness. If you lost it, how would you know? If youre aware of losing it, you havent lost it. If you do lose it, youre catatonic. their is no way around this simple logic. Zen is worse. it cannot overcome this obvious contradiction, so say its "beyond words and ideas" HOW CONVENIENT! So they come up with unanswerable questions with weird answers for niravana

  • @MrTamimisa To overcome yourself implies that yourself is problematic. This is only so if you take yourself very seriously, that is to know that your identity is absolute. In Zen, in realization, you feel your identity as play. Your role, is play. It is as fictional as a sport, or a game. When your body dies, so do these ideas of yourself. I'd recommend coming to terms with that, if it strikes fear into you, it's only because your taking words and images far too seriously.

  • @Coola34234th Thank you for that load of Zen bullshit. You just proved my point. If thought and action is what you are, then you speak bullshit, you practice zen, which is the action of bullshit. So you are in your self, FULL OF SHIT. Very zen, grasshoppah, very zen.

  • If Buddhist excepted Jesus as there saviour they'll would awesome be, because I believe that they understand the supernatural and have the discipline that goes beyond most christian believers.

  • @metallicajoeblack Nothing that exists is super natural.

  • Meditation looks to the inner - GOD IS GOD - Keep His commandments or you will not see eternal life - This video lies to humanity.

  • @DrAntonyWalker Meditation requires you to stop looking. In this, your able to understand reality, God, and your relationship to existence beyond symbolization of any kind. Reality is ineffable, because it's experience that understands it. You cannot explain experience. If you wish to understand, experience without symbolization, expectation, or interpretation. If you can do this, there are absolutely no problems, and no questions.

  • Jesus had a lot to say about "enlightenment" too. Look it up. :)

  • @magiccasements fuck jesus

  • how many of us truly dwell in the present? Our mind constancy either in the past or in the future.

  • @Quy4life Detach, then come back. You'll surprise yourself.

  • Be in the present. That's all.

  • I remember that line from the show Kung Fu: "Dwell on the past, and you rob the present. Ignore the past, and you rob the future."

  • What is the ultimate nature of Self? (Atman)?

  • Life is aseptance and some times Void some times so full of emotions that the uniqueness is on the moment Happyness is the void of sufering and so on Ossu..

  • i do so wish to be so calm and so relaxed. can you be like them in any other part of the world? i'm still trying to find myself. i live in germany. far away from calm...

  • @Nhordmyr Hello,

you do not have to be a zen monk to practice Zazen (traditional type of zen meditation)

there are many Zen centres in Germany. I live in Germany aswell. Moved there from the USA. I have been in Buddhist practicion for 4 years and I follow the way of the Zen.

I can tell you a lot more about this topic, and where you can find places to get in touch of Buddhism. I would be happy if you could reply on personal message.

    Thank you.

  • People who think we can do whatever we want and don't need to abide any certain laws or rules or precepts need to rethink again. If we don't have nothing to hold us back, we are no different from animals. If you study Buddhism, you should know that ignorance, greed, and anger are the things that sway our judgment. If we don't purge them, we aren't fit to do whatever we want-since our actions can still cause harm to others. Until then, follow the precepts!

  • The concept of: "this is what you want, this is what you get" is just as true as 2 + 2 = 4

People think many things, but the opposite of what they think may be as well what they may then think. That was then, this is now.

We are part of the people & think many things. Criminals may not abide by the law & rules, but they abide to their own.

Ignorance, greed & anger are parts of being what we are, not who we are.

The TAO gives birth to both; Good & Bad.

  • I hate the fact that the tradition has been infiltrated into this philosophy.

  • don't live in the present

  • The present is all we have

to not live in the present, is not to truly live

  • @Evilinvader308 The concept of the "now". The now is what's always present when we ask: "What time is it?". The now even makes its presence here & there. Its presence is so true to all conditions of even being: "Now you're alive, now you're dead, now you're asleep, now you're awake, now you're wrong, now you're right...."

Now!, you're looking at now Sir!. Now!, when then will be now? -Space Balls-

  • @Evilinvader308 - I remember someone telling me that a long time ago ; )

  • @Evilinvader308 This is only concept of mind, totaly outside present moment.

  • @Evilinvader308 You are so~~~~~right !

  • @Evilinvader308 Wholeheartedly agree.

  • fuck you

  • @alchlng

    Ox feet!

  • @ZenLife2012 It's exactly how life should be lived.. Just in the present!

  • @ZenLife2012

you comment on many zen videos just to promote a internet site. your comments are always the same. somebody makes money with people who are in search of something. please stop it.

  • it could be seen as spam , but because of my experience with it, i would like to share it with others , she has a great collection of things I've found to be useful in my life , im not promoting ring tones and pornography , just a website by an old lady that can barely pay her bills with her pension check

  • how do you know it is an old lady who can not pay her bills? it looks now more like spam to me. if somebody has a soft heart it doesn't mean he is stupid. it is about the website and money, right?

stop spamming on videos about biddhism!

  • i know her personally , shes my mothers friend , and shes having a hard time in her life right now , soft hearted people arnt stupid people , but i figured since she did do me the favor of showing me the path to enlightenment , i might as well help her out , her website is on topic , and since i myself am not in any great financial position , the most i can do is ask people to at least view the site , see if they like it and if so, she gets a sale , its not like shes asking for donations

  • @moonmanhere i think i help you with your lie and promotion if i keep critic you. you always give more informations about how helpful it wold be for the lady that doesn't exist.

    I stop it here.

may you have luck in your life and find another way to make money.not with lies.

  • that is great but you don't sound like a newbie at all.

  • Carl Sagan said, "We are star stuff." and "a way for the cosmos to know itself."

In fact, all the atoms on earth and in our bodies came from supernova that blew up over 5 billion years ago.

Really, aren't we all just walking, talking stardust -- this cosmos become AWAKE and looking it back at itself? -- and aren't we intimately connected to it all?

    enjoy the dance.

(And remember, ultimately there is nothing that separates us from all others in this wondrous mystery. Please be kind.)

  • seriously, ive been practicing zen for the past year or so. and didnt even know it.

  • zen is the life itself. just live it

  • When you experience it you will no longer need words nor causes or condemning others, nor even the self.

  • These are some great Zen books by a Japanese Zen Master who thought in SanFrancisco in the 60s, Shunryu Suzuki Roshi:

    - Not Always So

    - Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind

    His biography:

    Crooked Cucumber

    From Not Always So:

"To open you innate nature and to feel somthing from the bottom of your heart, it is necessary to remain silent".

"Nothing we see or hear is perfect. But right there in the imperfection is perfect reality."

  • If you are here, then u should read thee book : "The game of life, and how to play it" by Florence Scovel Shinn..... Believe me, everything will come to place then.....

  • hihihii, you're right about one thing: fighting against emotions creates inner conflict, which tears one apart. The thing that needs to be achieved is to reduce the compulsive thinking (all those thoughts that run into the mind over and over again, which only consume one's energy, providing no real use) , and use your thinking mind only for practical purpose. Don't trust me, don't trust anyone, just practice self observation for a while, a few weeks is enough to get a glimpse. :)

  • Zen is not a religion, nor an adherence to strict rules, nor inner reflection. It is exactly what it is and nothing more. The rituals you see are not done for worship or obligation to authority, they are done simply for the act of doing.

A good Zen Master would insist that he has nothing to teach. And he, in fact, does not.

If these things sound paradoxical, then congratulations, because you have just stepped upon the path to understanding Zen. Truely Understanding Zen.

  • Beautiful

  • I find the religious nature of Zen very paradoxical.

  • @atfatw: zen is neither my friend, zen just is just what is.

  • I like the meditation, philosophy and all, except for when things going the right way turn into a religion azpect. That's when I stop I think it over again.

What do I mean by religion?. I mean, having to follow certain rituals like abstaining from sex, etc.

I view it as being control by others & I hate that, I hate feeling control by others, at work, at home, at school, on the streets, wherever & when ever. Why is it so hard to be just one self without influenced by others?.

  • Is it so hard to become a part of a common group that believes the same things and to live a life that not only is acceptable to a religious group but that is acceptable to a general set of moral principles?

  • I know I'm part in one way of another of a global group by simply being, that is; Living in this World, which by the way is not a choice (I don't remember asking to be born).

Plato said: "I think, therefore I exist".

    True!.

If I don't think, therefore I wouldn't exist (Like those who died).

I like Taoism better than ZEN because Lao Tzu (The creator of TAO) wasn't legalistic like Confucius or any other religious leaders.

I'm just trying to be one with myself, may be I'll know why I exist.

  • @argent2020 me too!!!!!!!!!

  • @argent2020

    I agree entirely, my friend.

Truth is, if you don't want to follow the rules of others: don't.

I follow rules that I make for myself. Many of them agree with religion or society, many don't. The bottom line is whenever there is a rule, I observe and question: why is this so?

Rules like "don't kill" and "stop at red lights" make sense to me, so I follow them without hesitation.

Other rules, often ones instilled by esoteric religion, I disregard if I see no purpose.

  • @alchemicalkiss I understand what you say which is more likely common sense, but when you're constantly told: "If you do this, if you do that, if you don't do this, if you don't do that, etc...when you died you'll go to hell fire for ever and ever.

    That's what I'm talking about.

  • @argent2020 Because of those that use their freedom to abuse the ones that can not defend themselves. It is all the reazoning behind laws and religion. Because we left behind our animal skin the day we learned to control others. I will love people to do what I want them to do for love and not for fear, that is the day of perfection.

  • @argent2020 As far as I understand, liberation IS the ultimate goal of zen buddhism. The rigours inflicted on zen practitioners are meant to free oneself of the ego, therefore, freeing the individual from individuality. If the notion of self is eliminated, so too is the possibility of control over that notion.

  • @argent2020 everybody has influence on us. like we give inspiration to them in ways you dont realize. many objective things and maybe when speaking deeper things they will once remember. to be an artist in almost any situation is what i call "standard" in these times. many people are not themselves. but like i did, many of them will once find themselves at a turningpoint. once at this point you will find to yourself. mostly when you grow older.

  • @argent2020 you have awaken to truth zen to look for deatachment

  • @argent2020

    Because we are social creatures.

  • @argent2020 Then don't worry about them. It's not hard, just leave it alone, and you're free.

  • @argent2020 in true zen, it's not expected. as it was incorpoorated into Buddhism, Zen became another form of organized religion, using ritual and an extent of dogma. true Zen recognizes neither. in some schools of Zen, zazen and other rituals, as well as studying scriptures or koans, may gradually lead one to kensho. in other forms, all that is needed is the snap of a twig or the song of a bird to bring about realization.

  • @argent2020 I hear ya man, but I think that people follow religion so that that have that sense of knowing that they have some moral stability and that they are following the right path. I'm not an atheist, nor am I religious. This is just my opinion, I'm have no intention of influencing anyone. and if any of you idiots start a flame war just to slander my opinion and curse at me, save it because you're stupid comments aren't worth reading.

  • @Usagiiiiiiii Hi. Let me ask you a simple question. Can you handle, or better yet; can you reason in a conversation without becoming emotional, excited & insulting others without a just cause?.

I would understand telling someone off when you disagree with certain statements (I.E. You're going to hell). You know?, one thing is for sure: "Opinions are like ass holes because everyone has one". Another thing: "Beliefs are interpretations". Right or wrong?.

  • @argent2020 General Patton once said: "Lead me, follow me or get out of my way".

I grew up in Church, a Baptist to be more exact. I learned the doctrine very well, but, it was all under the condition of being just that without studying or even considering "the others". There's a pattern not just for Christianity per sé, any "practice" is about the same. Later on in life, I took the time to study Taoism, Zen, etc & I found a similarity. Tibetan Buddhism for example. Interpretations.

  • @argent2020 One common denominator among any practice is "discipline". Like martial arts?. About the same. If you enroll in a Karate Okinawan school, the Master would want you to know nothing else other than what he'll teach. Forget about Kempo, Judo, Kung fu, Sipalki, etc. I remember when I was 12 & practiced Tae Kwon Do. Ours was last, so I used to go there early just to see the other Martial arts. One day...

  • @argent2020 while waiting for our class, my teacher was there waiting also. I pointed to the class in progress which was Karate Do & I made a critical comment. My teacher looked at me & said: "The prostitutes have only one problem, only one". I asked him: "What is the problem?", he responded: "That they criticized". The teacher was a 4 dan & besides teaching us Tae kwon do, he would teach us philosophy & meditation. Some concepts did not go well with my at the time Christian beliefs.

  • @argent2020

I somewhat agree, though I think that all spiritual practice is empty without discipline. I dislike the distortion from the original teachings, such as with modern American Christianity or fanatical Islam. Yet discipline, like abstinence from alcohol, etc. is important to Buddhist practice because it intoxicates the mind, and one loses mindfulness. the same can be said for sex, drugs, or anything else we find addictive. the Buddhadharma is not control, but it is to make you aware.

  • @doclynch2014

i absolutely agree with you, you have a very gifted knowledge that is awareness.

  • Praying will get us nowhere. We'll be reborn again and again suffering in the sea of samsara.

It's only through purification of our mind and realise the truth will we be liberated from all the suffering that we go through in life

  • I perfer to pray to God and practice my own inner reflection too.

  • Ah man! They're unenlightened

  • i hope you are not reffering to a physical hell - seeing as such a place does not exist - hell is only in the mind - it is a way of thinking and is a state of being and living

  • You're right. Hell is mind created. We will decide our own destiny and no one can decide for us.

  • amen to that bruddah

  • Amen to that :P

  • Jesus saves.

  • All man made, all inspired by satan. Sadly many people don't know this and generally come back at the person revealing this truth with hate and NO understanding. Once again we see man trying to be god, it is the "hermetic principle" of making heaven on earth. Very bad, totallly evil. Seems peaceful but in the end will only get you sent to hell. You have been warned.

  • Zen is just Chinese chan Buddhism if I remember correctly.

  • whats up with the freakish floor wiping?????

  • its just the way they do it at a temple

  • how does wiping the floor freakishly keep me out?

and arent monks peaceful?they arent supposed to whip people...

  • ah yes, but was it a real cat or a metaphorical cat? How then could you cut such a metaphorical cat into one peice?

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHA.. i don't know weather you're against this or for it, but what you just said was hella funny xD

  • Is that even the point PermaWrath...?
