This program is specifically designed with Civil Engineers and Architects in mind.

I'm not sure how to answer your last question. I'm using it in my graphics fundamentals class at the moment.

You'll be better served with AutoDesk Revit Architecture 2010. It's very similar, but it abstracts a lot of the micro-controls that architects don't really need. Otherwise, I think you'd be wasting a lot of time with AutoCAD's fine controls.
