The prosperity is long gone so thank the idiots in congress and the least talented and most overpaid corporate leaders on earth. Next please outsource the jobs of the undeserving corporate American leaders. They are even worse than the union workers due to the fact that they do nothing at all for the pay.
@westonsz Throw the politicians in too, I'd like to outsource all of them D's & R's alike!! They vote themselves a raise while the country is on the verge of economic collapse!!
That video is more of a commentary on the things that DON'T exist here anymore. The people, factories and lifestyles are all gone. The mill owners passing out checks to the employees, the iron plants, and the tremendous industrial complex that skirted the Mahoning River are all gone. City of the Dead is about a culture and lifestyle that doesn't exist anymore.
Thats a nice song "City of the Dead" to use for this video, coming from a newspaper that is suppose to support our town, What? you dont believe in a future for us?

@Stixx128 Why can't people support Themselves? It's the truth.... nothing there..... Where is the plan for the city? You have to ask yourself........ Get the people together and start a new beginning..... a rebirth....
Thanks for the video. So sad what's happened to Youngstown. Have family there still. Had many who worked in the mills.... Want to know what's wrong with Youngstown? Do a search here and look at 80% of the videos related to it. It's not hard to figure out...
Great video! I love living here, it is a great town. I left for 10 years and came back. I will never leave again. I like seeing the past and what was here.
I have always loved Youngstown's architecture. It's beautiful! Don't love the crime and dangerous areas but I still like Youngstown. It's a city with potential. I miss Jim Trafficant!
i wish i couldve been able to see Youngstown in its peak, but really...the 'city of the dead' thats wrong, there are still thousands upon thousands that live here and love it and unless you live here and speak for the rest of us i just have 1 thing to say...shut the fuck up
This video is about the things that are no longer here, not an indictment of the present day. See the description: "This video is a remembrance of a culture and way of life that doesn't exist anymore." Song: "City of the Dead" by The Clash.
I didn't take it as disrespect, so don't worry. I actually appreciated your comments. I don't censor any of the comments on these videos, unless it's XXX spam.
My God, was that a picture of the football field at Rayen Stadium? I used to live right down the street from there, and though I'd never admit it to my mother...I always cut out of my Sunday school classes to play football there with my buddies when she'd drop me off at St. Edward's across the street. Great town, with a great past. Too bad it's future has been all used up since the late 70's. I still miss it though.
lol youngstown lol!!!!! it a depressing city with no hotels downtown cause its not safe to be there ! but h ave to give them credit for building a nice civic centerthough
Clash-"the city of the dead". Youngstown baby. pouplation cut in half in the last 35 years. Well known for its rich Mafia ties Youngstown has one of the highest murder rates in the nation. But I love it anyway.
My roots are in Y'town...still have family there..I can still smell that great smell of the mills going full blast and the railroads running at 100%. Rulli Brothers downtown had fresh fish daily and the best selection of Italian Meats and cheeses this side of heaven.
How did you manage to get "City of The Dead"? I can't find it ANYWHERE (for free, at least). I have the Super Black Market Clash album on vinyl but of course I'd like the mp3 version. :] Any info would be greatly appreciated, I'm obsessed with The Clash.
Jess, it's from a special CD collection titled "Super Black Market Clash." It has songs that appeared on EPs or 45s in the early 1980s. Hope this helps. If not, write back.
Very nicely done. Few in the current generation realize that Youngstown was once a city with well over 150,000 citizens, and a bustling economy and downtown. Nice look into the past.

As my mother said, "They ruined Youngstown when they went after the mob." No money, no organization, no culture...nothing now.
