  • The Habsburgs are really a declining family since the early 19th century.

That is why in old comic maps (around 1880-1910) Austria-Hungary has been drawn the figure of an ill man.

The video is very good, the music fits to it.

  • i thought the presentation disrespectful to the values that the Habsburg gave to the Empire and the later dual monarchy. There was no analysis. A great grandfather of mine was a colonel loyal to Maximilian of Habsburg-Lorraine and went to prison rather than accept the US-imposed anti-Catholic Juarez. There is no mention of Emperor-King Karl's overtures for peace in WW I which were refused by that pig Clemenceau, who perferred the killing of soldiers and destruction for another year.

  • I wonder what Rudolf would have been able to change. Too bad he was a genius with brilliant ideas, but at the same time he wasnt able to deal with women and his affairs. This and his bad relationship to Franz Joseph made him commit suicide. I find this is one of the most tragic figures in the Habsburg family. He was a real modern thinker and didn't support the influence of religion. It's good to live in Vienna, having all this history around me every day :). Makes me crave the good old times! ^^

  • You forgot the rebellion in Czech Bohemia in Prague

  • The execution of Emperor Franz Josef's brother Emperor Maximiliano I of Mexico was forgotten... =]

  • Yes, I suppose you're right. Sorry.

  • That's fine..haha... most wouldn't miss that part of history any way. Although, it is close to many Mexican hearts.

  • Do you consider it good or bad that Mexico is no longer a monarchy?

Anyways, I live in Belgium, the home country of the Mexican Empress so it has got a place near my heart too.

  • Very good question!, although I'm not necessarily a monarchist... and I'm not 100% sure I'd support a Mexican monarchy now (It depends on who the crown would be offered to and it's government) I do believe it was tragic that Mexico did loose it's monarchy in the 1860's. And I believe that it would have benifited tremendously from having a stable monarchy...(the US had a lot to do with it's demise)

So Yes I think it's bad in a way, but really who knows?! Maybe the Republic has been good also.

  • @DonMiguel1810 The "republic" in Mexico has not been anything except coups de `etats and caudillismo, until finally the election of 2000. Certainly the 30 years of Diaz brought stability and development to Mexico, and the 60 of the PRI also, but at the price of dictatorship.

  • It would be great to hear a Belgian's view on it, what do you think? It was an honor to have a princess from your country as our Emperor's consort. There are many people in Mexico who are the descendants of your people also (and the French, Germans, etc)

Do many people in Belgium know the history of their first princess?

  • Well we're quite proud of our monarchy. The country occasionaly runs into a few problems between the Dutch speaking north and French speaking south. The Royal Family has sort of become a symbol of unity.

  • And I left out Italy reclaiming Lombardy-Venetia.

  • @HabsburgLorraine my family served and pledge their loyality the Emperor Maximiliano I of mexico he and now I am loyal to the habsburg, even though i'm a communist and go against capitialism, fascism and monachy, but to the habsburg. all hail the imperial family of Habsburg-Lorriane!

  • @communism100 Remember that northern Europe is mostly Socialist and also constitutional monarchist, so it's not necessarily impossible, since monarchs are not political leaders and are rather non-political heads of state with duties of maintaining contact with the people, national unity, culture, receiving ambassadors, and visiting foreign countries to promote commercial and cultural ties.

  • @FRAGIORGIO1 we communnist are not welcome in the west thanks to capitialism and one constitutional monarchy in england but i know the hapsburgs were great people. if only austro- hungria was still existing today i would die to protecting them.

  • Les Habsburgo reynaron depuis 1440 à à 1806

  • Ah, yes, but this is only their decline.

  • Los Habsburgo reynaron desde 1440 a 1806

  • Bad Music. Bad Video. Good Images & Titles.

  • Spelling.

    Try it.

  • I'm sorry, I don't really understand.

  • @HabsburgLorraine The music was low comedy and not fitting.

  • Horrible music. The history is good, but the video is horrible.

  • Hust wait till you see the sequel.

  • Er...I really don't think it's worth arguing about.

  • What?!Who's making fun of who?THIS IS THE TRUTH!Oh and by the way,i don't know what good did the Habsburgs in Europe?None! They just conquered other countries, for their benefit,Hungary,Croatia,Transylvania(a part of Romania),Palmero,Sardinia.Prussia was a better country, much better, the enemy of the Habsburgs...

  • Prussia a better country?!? What??? Mein Gott, glory to the Habsburgs!

  • Translyvania was (and will be) not the part of Romania!! NEVER!!! With the Habsburg's help Hungarian Kingdom was the competitor of the "West": France, UK etc.!!! Of course, The Empire and later Austria-Hungary was a stabil helper of the European peace. And what good did yours king do in Europe or just Romania?

  • Romania fighted for centuries, against the Ottoman Empire, and it was victorious, and the Austro-Hungarians,didn't recognised these things, they that it was their victory against the turks. And more than that,we saw how Hungary becamed turkish pasalac. We fight only for our land, not for the ones from other countries.

  • When we've fought for our territories there was no Romania, but ok two roman principalities. BUT i don't think that you had to fought against osmans, because they wanted The West! After 1862 you wanted to fight for territories and The West's (let's say) respect.

  • Prussia was much more advanced but never offered the rights to her non German citizens that Austria did.

  • ...?

  • I hoped only to teach the sad happenings to the masses in an easily accessible way!

  • this video scared the shit outve me.

  • Is there something wrong with it?

  • the music.
