Hun, if you are using white in your water marble, use a white base coat, not pink. & don't drop in the colors to early or you can risk them bleeding into each other, that's why your white turned out grey. also, when your finger is in the water, blow on the water to make it dry faster & it will make the process easier to take off.
@13raiderr I used pink intentionally - with a white base the pink was too light. as for the white & black bleeding together, some may have to do with how fast they were dripped but mostly it's just the brand as I've used other black & white combinations with no problem =)
@kluvsmusicvids for me these are short - but marbling can be done on any length nail, the smaller the nail just the less of the design you will get =)
@chowmysister1 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip or shake off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)
@whoawhoagirl if you use warm water it dries even faster than cold water. Also being under a fan will make it dry faster, warm water, cold water, or room temp.
okay, so when i tried doing the marble art on my nails, it didnt work. FIRST- my nail polish wouldnt spread. it would spread the first 2 times and then the third it would just stay in a circle. THEN- when i took my tooth pick to make a design, it just completely tore apart, like it dried or something. the middle colors disappeared into the water while the outside crinkled. im not sure what i did.. im new to this. it was a complete fail..(:
@malmaldeal123 It sounds like the polish is starting to dry, which can effect additional colors spreading as well as making the design tear – you either have to work faster or find colors that dry slower =)
@malmaldeal123 Don't worry. You'll get it. Trust me. When I first tried water marbling, I got frustrated because nothing I did seemed to work. When I got the temperature right (room temp) AND found some really thin nail polishes to use it worked like magic. Just a tip. The thinner the nail polish, the easier it will spread. Get the 99 cent kind they have at your local beauty supply. That way you can stock up on a lot of colors at once. Oh yeah, make sure there's no fan blowing :)
I think your truly just amazing... I mean many people do marble art work which is good! But what im saying is that i really love this design! Well done SimplyLittlePleasues.
Keep up the good work! Im going to try this tomorrow, and i will see how it goes fingers crossed. So will this work with any type of nail varnish right? and also how many times do you have to keep dipping it in the water...?
ok so i was trying this today and it didnt work........ do i need to apply a base coat or any color base coat for the colors come out darker on my nail??...cause when i was trying it the color didnt really show up
thank you I tried this for the first time. It took a few trails and errors but I did it. You're directions are concise and easy to follow. I was wondering do you think letters are possible to do with the marble art?
@sOfiJUSTME it does use more than a normal manicure, but it's worth it =) & I have plenty to spare LOL - but if you are concerned, depending on the design you are going for you can dip 2 or 3 fingers at a time to save polish, also some designs use fewer drops
question. I don't know if it's bad nail polish, but when i dip my finger in, it mushes all together and looks icky when i pull it out. should i spread it more with my toothpick?
I've tried this method twice already and absolutely love it. One question though, i find i get a bunch of water bubbles.. is there a way of making sure that doesn't happen or a way of getting rid of them?
@anajovvojana My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip or shake off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. @sirenax14 I use a 5oz paper cup - Are you using room temperature filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =) \
@evchollister Are you using room temperature filtered water? u can u chap stick put it on ur finger and dip ur finger into the water marble and if ur finger has nail polish just wipe it off and it come right off.
@bianca11718 It's on my to-do list to do a comparison between taping & lotion or vaseline/chapstick etc, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Aside from the fact that it seems like it would be very messy, several viewers have told me that they can leave a residue in the water that makes it harder to do the next designs, which is why I've stuck with tape so far =)
love this design. what is your advice on doing the toes like this??? Same way as the fingers??? dip them in a cup. I am not doing all of my toes just the big toes, the rest solid color. Thanks
@bigyumt I haven't tried it on toes myself, but a few have posted on my Facebook page - get someone to help you, to kind of guide your foot & attempt to dip your toe in a good spot =)
@haileynchan01 even professional brands there are a lot of colors that don't work, you just have to experiment to find the ones that spread well & dry slowly =) I have some pics of my stash on my blog but I don't know when I'll do a vid
@SimpleLittlePleasues Okay then... thank you for the tips yea' gave me. btw i really love your nails i wish i have beatiful, long nails such as yours. ;)
I am trying to do your marble art image and i don't know what I am doing wrong. My nail polish is not spreading out like yours is. Is there a specific time that I need to be putting the polish in the water or specific nail polish? I am using Dasani water at room temp. Is that ok also?
@MrSanman100 make sure there are no additives in the water - other than that you do need to work very fast, for the polish it's all trial & error to find the colors that work best =)
@ninjagirl363 there's no set amount, the drops depend on the polish & the design so you just have to try & see =) if you have short nails you just get less of the design
I have the first day of school coming up and our school colors are black and yellow i have both sally henson colors one is mellow yellow and the other is fun metal will these work and if so what should i use for a base
There was one nail polish that didn't work in water for me. It just turned into a ball and fell to the bottom of my cup, and then it melted through the bottom. OAO
@Starz3215 Some polish sinks because it’s too dense, other times it is from dripping it from too high up, try to stay close to the surface of the water =) also stay away from styrofoam as polish dissolves it, the cups I use are paper
i really like ur design but ur nail are still very long and me & a frnd were wondering if it would work on very short nails tht r not longer than our finger tip ends... we really would like to do this do u think it would still work??????
@bffgurls1 the amount of drops depends on the polish you're using - I don't think the depth of the container matters, as long as you can fully dip your nail =)
@SimpleLittlePleasues OK thank you! what nail polishes would u recommend? i try not to buy expensive brands but if i really need to I'll buy a few, but i have like 20-25 nail polishes but all don't really work i wanna pull this off!
@bffgurls1 There really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well – the colors I use are always listed in the information box. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
I attempted to do this look the other day cause I really like it...it was also my 1st time ever trying the water marbling...and...yeah it didn't turn out at all...it was all clumpy, I tried it 3 different time's finally I just gave up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong....You make water marbling look so easy :)
@bettyyoung78 Are you using filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. @funniifriends the tape takes care of most of it - for the rest I use a brush dipped in acetone – you can check out the clean up tutorial under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see how =)
@sarahlolll1 sometimes not everything comes up when you clear the extra - you can take a single drop, spread it over the top & let it dry, when you pull it off any tiny bits should go with it =)
i love your tutorials! i did some practice with the technique and i noticed that only my glitter polishes works well, the matte one doesn't :-( they don't spread good on the water
@xoxKirahB00 you can really get cheap polish anywhere, from the drugstore to even beauty supply stores if you hit the clearance =) most brands are much cheaper online also
do you have a video with glow in the dark nail polish?

@SimpleLittlePleasues Okay thx 4 letting us know.... :^D

@SimpleLittlePleasues Okay thx!
P.s. do u have to use a lot of nail polish & a deep bowl or not deep bowl?**** it never works for me! xD
bffgurls1 7 months ago
@bffgurls1 the amount of drops depends on the polish you're using - I don't think the depth of the container matters, as long as you can fully dip your nail =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
@SimpleLittlePleasues OK thank you! what nail polishes would u recommend? i try not to buy expensive brands but if i really need to I'll buy a few, but i have like 20-25 nail polishes but all don't really work i wanna pull this off!
bffgurls1 6 months ago

Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. where did you get the stick thing
ilovjb09 7 months ago
@ilovjb09 They’re available most places that sell polish, usually stocked near the files & clippers =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
@ilovjb09 Honestly , I don't have one I just used a toothpick if you have one of those.

How long do you wait until you take the tape off? :D
LoveMynte 7 months ago
@LoveMynte I usually wait until it's dry, but you can do it while wet if you're very careful =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
@SimpleLittlePleasues Thanks ;)
LoveMynte 7 months ago
how do you get the extra nail polish off your nail at the end?
funniifriends 7 months ago
@funniifriends the tape takes care of most of it - for the rest I use a brush dipped in acetone – you can check out the clean up tutorial under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see how =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
why do i still have a clear film of polish on the top
?
sarahlolll1 7 months ago
@sarahlolll1 sometimes not everything comes up when you clear the extra - you can take a single drop, spread it over the top & let it dry, when you pull it off any tiny bits should go with it =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
I just tried this with white, pink, and green, and had an epic fail. >.<

hahaha okay...SHORT nails???? we mean like short as in you cannot see them over the tips of your fingers....like men, that short.
pottersuperfan1 7 months ago
@pottersuperfan1 LOL I don't think my nails will ever be that short =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
i love your tutorials! i did some practice with the technique and i noticed that only my glitter polishes works well, the matte one doesn't :-( they don't spread good on the water
