  • Did she leave you or pass away??

  • Kelly does not deserve to sing with Ray LaMontagne, Hes sings music from the soul. Shes just american idol material.

  • Ray is great!! Kelly, not so...

  • Brilliant. I only wish the shower scene didn't have the liter bottle of shampoo in the corner. Brilliant none-the-less.

  • The beginning with the child humming, would I be right in thinking it's from Michael Jackson's Little Susie? If not, it sure does sound alike, always gets me every time. Well done on the video :)

  • did you make up the movie thing

  • I was thinking the same thing, I was like did they do a song together. In additon, I love to hear Kelly Clarkson sing! She's one of my personal favorite singers too.

  • Thumbs down for the misleading video title and vast overuse of slow motion.

  • and here i was thinking that ray lamontagne and kelly clarkson sang 'be here now' together... just a bit disappointing. but nice video nonetheless:)

  • i dont like the video..its cheezy...amazing song!!

  • i think that ''spacedampduh'' is right. I clicked on this video because of the title but even though your idea was good, the acting is pretty bad and the change from the first to the second song is weird too.

  • I love this song. The video is amazing. Sad.... but amazing. It speaks volumes and is quite creative. It made me somewhat tearful. Continue to shake-up our minds and memories.

  • I got touched... and I love 2:45!!! It may be a simple vid, it tells a lot yet. Thanks for your work and for sharing!

  • Great short, body language says it all.

  • Despite all of the negative comments, please know that this film made me cry -- I could really feel for this sad young woman. Thank you for sharing it.

  • Beautiful girl. :) very cool video.

  • sweet sweet sweet

  • This is one of the stupidest videos I've seen on YouTube...and that's saying a lot. When I saw the title I thought 'Oh wow! Two totally different artists calaborating on a great song, this should be awesome!' But noooo. In fact, I'm fairly certain that's the only reason this vid has over 100,000 views. You really should just go ahead and rename it "Crappy Attempt at Art (Total Letdown)."

  • @spacecampduh clearly you have no soul man. THe song is about something rather than the crap on todays radio

  • This was very interesting, I think you did a great job on it as well. Keep it up:)

  • dude shut the fuck up applemoon237.

  • Fail video

  • My heart sank once she realized there was no decorations. Made me tear up a bit. Nice job! I love this video. X'D

  • I would have to agree that this video was pretty terrible. And yes, I am allowed to have a negative opinion of something despite not being a professional artist. Anyone willing to share a video with millions of people should be prepared for positive and negative reviews, as I'm sure this filmmaker was. Also it should be pointed out that the girl in the film is not the creator; that would be someone named Michael Woodward (he's listed in the credits).

  • That was awful. I'm sorry. I know people will give this a thumbs down, and maybe this would fly in a creative film class in junior high, but I wouldn't share this with the world. Just because it is personal and about "painful" teenage material, like ma forgetting your birthday or whatever, doesn't make it good. Pick a style, and stick with it. And if it's a five minute movie and the soundtrack will only be song, just pick one song. Keep at it.

  • your a prick......what have you done artistically that gives you the right to say that?

  • The right to say that I didn't like it? Really? You want my resume because I didn't like it and thought it wasn't good? How about I can spell and use grammar correctly. That puts me above the bar of you at least. I didn't attack the person who made this. I gave a negative critique, something that the creator of this film ought to be prepared to take. Trust me. If I had shown that in a film class, I would have heard much worse out of a teacher's mouth. Grow up.

  • um...not really sure what words i misspelled there. Plus if she ASKED you what you thought then maybe that rude response would have been somewhat appropriate but I have a feeling you are not the least bit artistic and you know nothing about film. So use your time to do something productive instead of going on youtube and pretending your a movie critique that matters. This girl put effort into something artistic which is something i respect and you obviously don't understand.

  • You're adorable. You'll understand when you're a little older. Posting a video in a public forum welcomes both positive and negative feedback, little one. If the poster put this video for the soul reason of having 18 year old kids gush over how amazing it is, then they should be in therapy. Furthermore, I never said I didn't respect her doing something artistic. Read harder, cupcake. You can respect the human, but not the product. Also, there's a difference between "your" and "you're."

  • @halfjack13

nobody ever won a war of words or ideas by using the old grammar argument..particularly the stupid "your vs. you're" argument. The fact is if kids today don't know the difference between your as in ownership or the contraction you are, it's the fault of our public education..furthermore a lot of people DO know the difference but when you are typing fast cause somebody has belittled your humanity and you are understandably upset , mistakes happen.

The fact that you would even

  • resort to using that argument reeks of the fact that you don't have much on your side of the argument at all. Obviously this little film is not Oscar worthy nor fit to be shown on any big screen (not like films that aren't haven't been though of course) ..It's amateur, But it's not without merit. To me it was really spooky but not gratuitously and it got the emotional point across that it was trying to make without any words or much action at all...which is credit mainly to the actress

  • and the director.

Yeah obviously it is not a complete piece of art and not particularly extraordinary but it's one of those things that may not be that great but still shows bits of talent here and there that the people that made it may have the potential at some point to do much better.

If a person, even a kid, finds something worthwhile in it that they can relate to..who are you to argue with what they feel. In fact many times kids and young adults who are still kids in some ways in

  • an emotional sense but also are already gaining the wisdom of some experience of adulthood..are really in a state of grace of worldly and inner knowledge even if they are uneducated technically and have not done much yet. And they may not always be right , none of us are, but they may have something to teach us.

If you disagree with something, by all means, disagree and show it..But why not try to fight fair instead of resorting to shady tactics of belittling your worthy oponent?

  • I find it interesting that you assume that "themusicmaker91" poor use of grammar is out of ignorance. I don't really think that's fair. If someone is going to have a discussion about their opinion, they should be prepared to discuss it accurately. If they act like a child, they should be treated accordingly. This whole thing started because I didn't think the video was great. Read down: neither did the director. Both you and tmm91 are defending someone you really aren't in a place to defend.

  • @halfjack13

I generally make it a rule to defend who *I* see fit to defend and you do not know me nor my "place" in this world and my reasons for defending who I feel called to defend against who I feel they need defense against.

  • @applemoon237 What are you like 50 or something?? Nobody cares about ' state of grace of worldly an inner knowledge"! You either like it or not! You dont have to leave 5 freakin long comments about one video!

  • Also, I was making art (granted, bad art, but art nonetheless) since before you were born. So don't assume that I don't like what she did because I don't know what I'm talking about. You think I'm rude because I disagree with you. Had you any experience in the art/film industry, you'd realize how childish you're being. If plan on pursuing a similar path, I suggest you grow a thicker skin, and not assume that other artists are defenseless.

  • This is really sad. Instead of actually having an argument you resort to acting childish and calling me adorable and cupcake.See you have NO idea what your trying to say so instead of actually having an argument with me you act childish and insult my age. The art/film industry needs less fools like you who think they matter and more people who know how to actually progress the arts. You're just a coward who sits around looking for youtube videos you can insult instead of making one yourself

  • No, no I made several arguments, and you chose to ignore reason. Which is why I called you childish, which you are being, and you're come-back is to call me childish twice in one post? So the whole "You're (or your, in your book) rubber, I'm glue" argument really shows your maturity. By the way, the movie was made by Michael Woodward, not the tween star. Clearly, it is you who doesn't know anything about the industry.

  • this was amazing great job(:

  • nice job! (:

  • Ray LaMontagne is brilliant, amazing, talented, awesome, beyond belief.

  • OMG....I luvz it....you did an amazing job...can't wait to see what else you produce!

  • Next production "The Bunker" should be interesting.

  • Omg...I've heard good things about the script for that!! I'm sure whatever your involved with will be amAzing!

  • oh my god. i thought that was the actual video. no joke i did. i thought it was a music video.

    gosh

  • pretty sad i'd say.

  • i really enjoyed your video :)

i especially like the part where esther imagines the decorations.

    and i love ray lamontagne.

  • Love the song, but the video is really slow

  • Hey, if anyone really likes this song by Ray you should check out his "BBC 4 sessions" on you tube..........simply amazing!!!! and live =)

  • Ahh the first bit is from 'Little Susie'

  • Yep. By Michael Jackson!!

  • OMG...So Amazing i'm Cryin...

  • Wow. I almost cried. Beautiful songs.

  • fair play 2 ye:) by d way u look gorgeous)

  • oooh wait she's at the end...ok..slow blonde moment

  • i was waiting for kelly clarkson the whole time....so misleading.nice video though

  • Wow! I haven't been to this video page in a while. Thanks for all the criticism good and bad. I did this film so long ago, took about a week to complete for a school deadline. And yes I know it shows. Simple story, but it turned out a lot better then I expected.

  • I thought this was beautiful.

  • this was sooo hilarious! Using PAM spray and Pilsbury cake mix??! LOL too funny.Good videography, but, really bad set. Even if she's doing it as a "home movie" she could have gone out to a farm house or some location which was a little less distracting.

  • Why is Kelly Clarkson's name on this? Don't bring Ray down by comparing him to her.

  • thank you

  • because there's a kelly clarkson song in it ...

  • bring down???please!!

  • this was sad. good work though :)

  • Well, you're lucky "Be Here Now" is an amazing song, b/c otherwise I don't think you'd hold hardly anyone's attention. I've seen worse cinematography and whatnot, but a.) the shots themselves were kinda' lackluster, and b.) there wasn't much to help move the story along. I actually had next to no idea what this was about till I happened to see the info on the side... about 4 minutes into the film:S BUT overall, I've seen much worse, so keep working hard and striving for improvement. Peace.

  • you make it sound like the person had a top quality camera and studio lighting..lol cmon.. its just for fun with a hand held camera..why would you even talk about cinematography.

  • Sorry, I wasn't trying to condescend. I mean, it's cinema - cinematography exists no matter the quality of gear, ya know.?. But if memory serves, I think I was just calling some of the shots lackluster b/c, frankly, I'm kind of a freak for composition, and some of the stationary frames were pretty dull. Just thought there should've been a little more effort for originality, I guess. Sorry if I'm still coming across as a jerk:\

  • if you thought the film was so bad? why did you watch it for 4 MINUTES until you realized that it says what it is about?

  • A.) "Be Here Now" is one of my favorite songs of all time, B.) I didn't think this video was completely worthless. I was just trying to give some constructive criticism, and I guess I wasn't gentle enough b/c ppl keep thinking I'm the Grinch or something. I watched it all the way through b/c it's not fair to give criticism on something unless you see it in its entirety. I was really just trying to point out things I didn't like b/c if someone thinks they're already flawless, they don't grow.

  • I totally agree :) I thought your comments were constructive and fair. We can't lie and say this was a great video because it wasn't!

It was ok, some of the shots were nice (I liked the mother and daughter bits, they were nice) but the storyline was a little simplistic and it was quite contrived in places. Keep trying though, x

  • Don't curse the guy ;)

If mwoods44 tried so srsly, it means he probably was, so he needs constructive critique, like yobhsiFeht's...u can't just praise someone - it takes them to a wrong direction ;)

Peace y'all, and mwoods keep improvin'! :)

  • SO SAD. she has her own birthday party for herself. But the quality of the camera is horrible... honestly I think that this song could be a song of relief instead of sadness. I didn't like this video very much.

  • whatisg this for Kelly Clarksons song!!! all da way!

  • why are we just watching someone do their morning routine

  • we are watching it because of ray's wonderful song! of course ^^ :p

  • ...yea, because everyday we get up and make confetti cake and celebrate our own birthday.

  • the concept for the video is good, but ehhh..

  • that's actually really good for a home made music video. people who diss this should keep in mind that it's home made. props.

  • love the song too much to diss the song, but god that was a terrible video!

  • ..poignant!

  • where is kelly in this song...nowhere

  • She's in the second half of the video

  • Very touching.

  • nothing can be sad when you've got funfetti cake around

  • @legayK21 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • um.. ok.. rahter it stuck with be here now.. but im no critic.

  • Omg you made me cry ....great vid i'm feeling exactly the same thing.

  • sad :'(

  • i'm feeling this..

    love it

  • this is a good video and a lovely song, but why is there a child humming at the beginning - its ruins it because its creepy!

  • Yup it is creepy and wierd

  • such a touching film and what a great mix with rays new song, made me cry. I love what you have done.. 5 star.

  • wow ... sad but great

  • I am just in love with your voice!...The first time I heard this song I just got this feeling in my body like I've never felt...Your voice is simply amazing and makes my soul feel alive!

  • this is not mwoods244's voice. it is the voice of Ray LaMontagne. so tell HIM that you love his voice! because i do too.

  • Yes I am fully aware of who is singing...I was just feeling the moment...I'm sure you can relate.

  • of course. yes.

  • Huge fan! Glad I found more stuff of yours on here... You seem to always pick the perfect songs for everything you do!!!
