Yea there were a few Polish SS, and in the Wehrmacht too(towards the end of the war they were drafted), but many of them were Poles with German roots, and the amount of Poles who collaborated with the Germans is by far the smallest of any German-Occupied country in world war 2. What's your point? Every nation has traitors. Still doesn't hide the truth that the Germans couldn't even find enough Polish volunteers for an SS brigade.

I think it's worth pointing up the expression 'the tide turned', the Russians mounted a huge pincer operation (which the Germans believed they could not do), and the consequence was that the German 6th Army was defeated and that, one or two battles apart, the Germans were on the retreat consistently thereafter.

Churchill said it was the best deal ever made. We had to pay for the rental of bases from our Allies & reverse lend-lease was used to do this.

BTW, the USA also was working on the rocket-propelled Gargoyle, & the Felix, an infrared guided (IR seeker in nose) GP bomb with guidance fins in the tail, & it was successfully tested & went into produciton in 1945 but never made it into combat.

Bush & Putin got together & the rest of the debt was forgiven, gone, because of the USSR's great contribution to the war effort etc. We also forgave the debt for other smaller Allied nations.

@fokjock, The jet was the XP-80 & it first used a British jet engine that was then improved by General Electric, & the airframe etc. was made by Lockheed. First jet engines were invented by Hans von Ohain & Sir Frank Whittle.
J. Walter Christie of New Jersey, USA made the first decent tank with sloped armor & the Christie suspension that the Soviets used for the BT tank series & then the T-34.

On boobtube here my comments state the the brits were responsible for the first major Allied victories over the Axis in 1939-41 in both East & North Africa, that it was the Brit developemnt of the cavity magnatron that allowed short wave radar units to be used to defeat the U-boats, after the device was given to the USA for mass production, cont'd.

Fact: The USA 90mm firing HVAP was the equal of & even surpassed the Brit 17pdr in certain aspects such as rate of fire, etc.
Fact: The USA long 76.2mm was slightly superior to the USSR 85mm when firing HVAP as stated by USSR weapons tetsers etc.

@fokjock, Someone stated that the USSR was the only nation to produce diesel engined tanks in WWII & I stated that the USA produced thousands of diesel engined M3-Lees (over 1,300), M4 Shermans (M4A2 & M4A6) & supplied the USSR with both M3 & M4 & we used some of the diesel engined Shermans in the Pacific. Some USA Stuarts also used radial diesel engines. Britain had Leyland diesels in Matilda II, Valentine, & Cruiser tanks, Italy used a Ford diesel in its M13/40 series, & Japan used diesels.

No it wasn't the Germans and Whittles design you fuckwit-Frank Whittle was way out front FIRST with the design and patented in 1930 but couldn't get backing-Ohain later independently did in 1936-but the Germans were much quicker to build it

No, very little could be concluded from that-priciples of a jet can be learned from a washing up liquid bottle and were first laid out mathematically by Sir Isaac Newton hundreds of year ago.The idea of compression, +compressors to create the mass flow could only come from Whittle.

No, you got it wrong again.If you understood the development of the jet engine, you would have known that Sir Frank was WAY ahead in the 1920, with his patent for the engine coming in 1930.Sadly there was bureaucracy and no funding for his work.Ohani in Germany caught up, developing his engine patent 6 YEARS later-THEN they strove ahead and built the first aircraft in 1939.

The Bat was the first fire and forget guided weapon, and the first radar homing antishipping weapon & was fairly good, most adavnced of its type some people state.
