Side airbags and curtains should not deploy in frontal impact. They won't do any good and if other car comes at you from the side (right after you crashed) they will be already used and won't protect you. GM saving puting one sensor 4 all?
Looks like this car is just as safe as Volvo XC90, but i have read GMC Acadia had a issue with the airbag sensors, In worst case the airbags don`t go off in crash and that is scary. I want a XC90 or a Acadia but i am not sure anymore...
I was just reseantly in a car crash in a 2007 GMC Acadia and it did it's job me being a passenger in the second row only hit my head on the seat in front of me only endind up with a broken nose. Noone in the vehicle was majorly hurt but going about 55-60 down a highway to a complete stop did but alot of damage on the other car a Nissan altima. But overall the car was great. An Acadia saved my life.
Recently, I downgraded in size from a '04 Yukon XL to an '08 Acadia SLT2, red jewel tintcoat. I love the quiet ride, handling, and interior features, but I wish they would build the Acadia with a V8. Excellent crash ratings!
I TOTALLY agree! I have a Traverse and i LOVE it! It feels big like a truck but low enough to be a car. Yet the handling is GREAT! I am a GM buyer FOREVER :D
Pretty good, except the Side curtain airbags, they shouldnt have went off... In this kind of crash those side airbags will do more harm then good... That will be a hard smack on the head..
impressive (especially for a GM product) but this car had alot of rebound, which isnt really a problem i guess. Also why did the side airbags go off in a frontal crash?? whatever, better safe than sorry
oh shit

@leonmobileca its keeps your head from hitting the B pillar and/or the door and roof line

@chad8329 I guess you are liitle bit right but different manufacturers use only front airbags in case of front impact.

Sometimes it's a good thing for the side air bags to go off in a frontal crash, as they can keep the driver's head from hitting the door or the roof.

its a safety feature, so the drivers head dosen't hit the door frame or anything. Most new cars will do this.

Well, you just asked me to name unsafe GMCs and I did
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
I meant unsafe as in Poor.
GMminivans9968 3 years ago
well marginal's not awesome
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
Most of the ones you named were from the 1990s, and half the cars back then got Poor, so Marginal is not so bad.
GMminivans9968 3 years ago
Toyota had some acceptable and even goods back then though
so compared to the competition - unsafe
alexkvaskov 3 years ago
Like which ones?
GMminivans9968 3 years ago
Like the 4runner, avalon, camry, corolla, tacoma and sienna
