Being/Airbus are all guilty of making them 'flying tombs'...there was a guy called Burnelli who designed aircraft that were so much safer than today's cigar shaped bombs. Burnelli aircraft had fuel tanks and engines isolated from the main fuselage and wings and landing gear. Burnelli's fuselage has a rectangle design to increase lift at lower airspeed.

Only way to avoid more aviation tragedies is by countries like Lebanon start creating more technology at their home countries instead of relying on USA technology. Arabs/indians etc are too happy to rest in the laurels of their ancient civilizations instead of competing with USA/Europe like Japan and South Korea.
Its time that Lebanon makes Burnelli-shaped aircraft and export them to the world. Brazil did that with (I forget the name) and it sold well.

10000s of people have died in plane crashes over the past 50 years. This didn't have to be the case. Being/Airbus are all guilty of making them 'flying tombs'...there was a guy called Burnelli who designed aircraft that were so much safer than today's cigar shaped bombs. Burnelli aircraft had fuel tanks and engines isolated from the main fuselage and wings and landing gear. Burnelli's fuselage has a rectangle design to increase lift at lower airspeed.

This tragedy clearly shows how fortunate America and the passengers on flight 253 were. Umar's intent was to bring down the Delta flight at the Detroit aiport.
