Not every college football fan knows who ND faced in every bowl game they've played in the last 10+ years. That kind of knowledge is normally reserved for specific fanbases.

it's not only his stats, it's the position he's in. he's key to the cubs bullpen which is one of our strengths. that's why the cubs have so many come from behind wins. because of the relievers like samardzija marmol and wood. man his first appearance in the pros was a TOUGH ass spot against the marlins. he's been thrown right into the fire every game and he's done insane under the pressure of being on a team in the 2nd hardest division in baseball (AL east)(i put NL east at 3rd hardest imo)

2006 wasn't even that great of a year. Thank Touchdown Jesus that they actually BEAT Georgia Tech, UCLA (SEVEN turnovers?), and Michigan State (since they almost lost ALL THREE of those games), because otherwise they might've staring down the barrel of a 7-5 record.
It also helps to play EVERY military academy in order to bolster that number in the win column.
considering the talent coming in on both sides of the ball(which was great to see, usually the Irish have a tough time bringing in solid defensive players), it'd be impossible to not see the potential of the program in the near future.

On top of it all, you are extremely intelligent. Notre Dame has 8 AP titles and LSU has 0.5 AP titles, but you were right on the button when you said LSU > Notre Dame. Kudos to you!
LSU has 2 AP National Championships, one in 1959 and one in 2003. LSU won the Bowl Championship Series as picked by the pollsters, meaning that LSU won the national championship. USC didn't win anything except for their bowl game, where the Associated Press, who originally voted OU and LSU the national championship, tried to go back in the end and give USC a piece of the national championship that they did not deserve.
Therefore, LSU is the rightful national champions and played a way harder schedule that year anyway as we have for years now in the hardest conference. And if you want to talk about stats, the last time you recorded stats, like Heisman winners and national championships was over two decades ago.
However, ND has accomplished one incredible stat in recent years: 9 straight bowl losses (this last one being an embarrasment), making ND quite possibly one of the most overrated football programs of the past decade. Wake up, you're not the football team you used to be. This past year was suppossedly your comeback year too with your best roster in recent years and we still kicked the shit out of you, as did USC and Michigan.
and Indiana is absolute paradise right? please, I've been through the midwest, including Indiana, and that has to be the worst section of the country by far. at least in the south we have good food and good weather (have fun freezing to death). it's not only his stats, it's the position he's in. he's key to the cubs bullpen which is one of our strengths. that's why the cubs have so many come from behind wins. because of the relievers like samardzija marmol and wood. man his first appearance in the pros was a TOUGH ass spot against the marlins. he's been thrown right into the fire every game and he's done insane under the pressure of being on a team in the 2nd hardest division in baseball (AL east)(i put NL east at 3rd hardest imo)

asong1588, check your facts buddy. jeff throws mostly a 2 seamer with a TON of movement... he rarely throws 4 seamers. his changeup/splitter type pitch has the exact same movement but is about 83-85 MPH instead of 95-99 MPH on the fastball

I remember when Samardzija and Notre Dame were knocked out of the college baseball postseason back in his last year in college.
The Notre dame coach ran his mouth about how they deserved a #1 seed, blah, blah, blah.
Well they ended up getting a #2 seed and played the #3 seed in the opening game. That #3 seed pitched their #3 pitcher in the game against Notre Dame's Samardzija.
Needless to say, Notre Dame was out in 2 games.

If you have a NATIONAL recruiting base with a NATIONAL reputation (as opposed to state or regional) and ND is a such a GREAT university (as I'm continually told), then it should be EASIER to find recruits (like the Clausen kid, for example). It was named Notre Dame du Lac, Our Lady of the Lake. It's a Catholic University named in honor of the Mother of Christ and she watches over the university from her perch on the Golden Dome. It is a great university with a lot of good athletes that attend such as Jeff.

If ND has had top ten classes for the past three years as you say, then where are they? The "Top Ten" class from three years ago would be upperclassmen by now, but they still posted a pathetic 3-9 record this year. That certainly is not indicative of a program that is on the comeback trail.
Something is broken in South Bend, and the Chucky Weis buyout clause is NOT gonna be cheap...

I dont think so. I think Weis was a little arrogant, thinking he could win with any roster with a superior gameplan. But in the NCAA its more about the skill of your roster(which btw that first batch of Top 10 recruits were only sophs last year). Plus look how much talent they lost after '06. Granted, they were overrated the previous year, but that was still a solid Top 25 team. They lost their entire OL save for RT, starting QB, RB, top 3 WR's...basically their entire O. And that's all that

But there's some great talent coming in this year, including a ton of help on D. By '09 this team should be starting to really get some notice around the country. 2006 wasn't even that great of a year. Thank Touchdown Jesus that they actually BEAT Georgia Tech, UCLA (SEVEN turnovers?), and Michigan State (since they almost lost ALL THREE of those games), because otherwise they might've staring down the barrel of a 7-5 record.
It also helps to play EVERY military academy in order to bolster that number in the win column.

They may very well be "good" again, but I'm sticking with my original opinion: Not at that level. Ever again.
And until they join a conference, they should play the toughest schedule possible. The same goes for any other "independent" teams still out there.

LSU has 2 AP National Championships, one in 1959 and one in 2003. LSU won the Bowl Championship Series as picked by the pollsters, meaning that LSU won the national championship. USC didn't win anything except for their bowl game, where the Associated Press, who originally voted OU and LSU the national championship, tried to go back in the end and give USC a piece of the national championship that they did not deserve.
