  • senkaku islands is within territory of China, Japanese wants to occupy the islands since the petroleum is discovered in the nearby islands.

  • i was reading & copying down the Hiragana parts, & i thought i saw some mistakes but now i dunno. O: like @ the beginning when she says "Hello everyone, I'm Hanako Tanaka." the hiragana is: ”みなさん、こんちは たなか はなこ です。but shouldn't the "は" (ha) afterこんち(kon'nichi) b "wa" like in da translation? cuz i saw more of her videos & they're all da same but i kno "wa" is "わ”, not "ha" は..so y is "ha" there instead of "wa", pronounced "wa"? im so confused. i thought i saw some more mistakes but now iono.

  • @kawaiisakuchan It does confuse many people but the correct one is actually こんちは because that's just how you spell hello basically. は can be said as "wa" as well for example "私はAmyです" we use は when pronounced as "wa" to indicate the topic of a sentence

    boku ha jyuu-go sai desu

    igirisu jin desu

  • Shouldn't it be "boku no namae" as in my name? "boku wa namae" doesn't sound correct.

  • Because it's not.

  • あなたはいい先生です

  • @crisdoffm2k9 私はあなたに同意するものとします。

"hai" and "iie" is more like "yes" and "no". If someone says "Sorry for being late" or something, the respons might be "Iie, daijoubu desu." (No, it's ok.)

    Marina141:

I think what you meant to say was:

"Watashi wa nihongo ga sukoshi wakarimasu."

    Stoopidoooo:

If you are greeting your friend, it is not appropriate to say "Ogenki desu ka?" because it it way too formal. Friends don't speak like that. Just "Genki?" with a small rising intonation at the end would be more suitable.

  • DreamChula13:

Hajimemashite comes from the adverb "hajimete" which literally means "for the first time". But in English, you don't say "For the first time. My name is Peter." Instead you say "Nice to meet you. My name is Peter." or something like that. That is why "hajimemashite" is often translated into "Nice to meet you." It would just be too unnatural to translate it into "We meet for the first time".

    COPYMYSTYLE1:

"Hajimemashite" is used when you meet someone for the first time.

  • Medogonsama:

    When "wa" is used as a particle, it's written は (ha) and not わ. It is still pronounced like "wa", though. You also forgot the copula, 'desu';

    はじめまして、ぼくは [なまえ] です。どうぞよろしく。

    Magmadragon92:

    Norway is ノルウェー (noruwee)

  • can someone tell me if this is the correct way to greet my friend he loves japan so i wanted to surprise him by greeting him him in Japanese so would it be correct if i said konnichiwa. o genki desu ka Luke-kun? plz reply

  • well konnichiwa is hello but i dn't know of a way to say nice to see you again or something. but you could alway' tell him i understand a little japanese

watashiwa nehonggoga scosh watashiwa soz that is best i can do

  • :{D

  • i love japan and i like learning japanese thx 4 the vedio

  • This is late in the comment list, but I thought it would be worth pointing out. I am still slowly learning, but I believe "hai" is more like "I agree" and "iie" is more like "I disagree". "hai' can also be like "okay" and 'iie" in some situations may be like "it's not a problem" (example, if someone says "Sorry for troubling you", might get the response "iie" etc.) If I am mistaken, please correct me.

  • i thought hajimemashite was nice to meet you from other videos.. im confused now O_o

  • who to say Norway?

  • so when do you use hajimemashite?

  • はじめまして、ぼくわ[なまえ]。どぞよろしく

(hello, im [name]. pleasure to meet ya)

(здравствуйте, мое имя [имя]. очень приятно)

はじめ is used to point on something new for speaker. in this case, its pinpoint that this is ur first meet ever.

  • wow lol i love the lesson but the "green dude" sorry nvm i said that if you knew wad it actually do mean

  • NABUNTURAN KAMIYAMA NIKKIEINKAI

  • もうちょっとマシな娘を出せ

  • Dozo yoroshiko that means it is nice to meet you.I just want to say thank you very much i ve ben wanting to learn japanese for a while i am going to go to the libuary soon and look for japanese how to books

  • hayimemasite is for introducing yourself, & only one person can say it, if the other person has already told it you CAN'T say it. and it is the FORMAL way to introduce yourself

and no, japanese don't talk that slow

  • most speak english dont they? :O

  • lol, well it ends with kudasai at the end and begins with a onegai.

  • I am sure Hanako thinks all of the gaijin studying Japanese are absolute nutcases deep down inside.

    Don't trust them people!

  • Thank you! Arigatou

  • Do Japanese ever speak SLOWLY?

  • Doitashimashite watashi ni anata no kaika.

Ima watashi suki benkyo Nihon-go soshite

omoshiroi kau Nihon shohin taryo no.

Dozo yoroshiku mata ashita to ja-mata !

  • Hajimemashite

    John desu.

    dozo yoroshiku.

  • You are the best!

    Arigato gozaimasu!

  • i enjoyed this

  • she says dozo yoroshiko for nice to meet you? i thort it woz hajimaimashite for nice to meet you? im confused.

  • its both! hashimemashite its more like for only friends i think..

  • hajimemashite is for "first time meeting" so u can only use it when u have only just met, no other time, dozoyoroshiko is "i am pleased to meet you" so u can use it just about anywhere in an introduction

  • Arigato gozaimasu :3

Watashi no namae wa Perry desu. Watashi wa ju-san sai desu.

  • Smile :)

  • At 2:08, when she said "Please allow me to introduce myself,I am Hanako Tanaka", can't you just say "Hajimemashite, Tanaka-san desu"?

  • yea she could but it seems that she is teaching by saying her first and last name. but you probably know that now. :P

  • Actually, you would never use the honorific title of "san" when talking about yourself, that would be extremely rude in Japanese culture. You only use that title when talking about someone else. You were right about using her last name though if you were to introduce yourself with only one name since first names are only used among close friends and family.

  • its not rude at all and nobody will get angry, cause no one do that. its funny actually. but yes there is an uniqe honorific expression in jpn culture called keigo. desu or gozaimasu... these kind of stuffs are used in keigo. by the way if you guys said "dozo yoroshiku", you better put "onegai shimasu" at last. it will sounds perfect.

  • HOW THE FUCK CAN I SAY THAT I'M GREEK???

    watashi wa.. greekjin desu? O____O

  • watashi wa girisajin desu

    alla den eimai kai sigouros.

  • What does the word "desu" mean?

  • I pretty sure it's the 'To Be' verb..but i don't know for sure..

  • and poland ??

  • I love Nihong0 :D

  • a japanese person teaching an american how to speak japanese is all dandy but speaking in japanese the whole time while trying to teach a foreigner is not very helpful.. but thanks i did learn quite a bit so i guess it was helpful a bit. that just threw me off a little.

  • please allow one question !

why are there words like ripito for repeat? have there never been japanese words for it or is it just modern language? i don't think the meaning of "repeating" was not necessary in japanese language evolution.

  • DAMN THE INTRO MUSIC FUCKED ME UP !

  • Watashi wa Firipinjin desu..

  • How can i say I am Filipino?

    WATASHI WA ????

  • ooooooooook, that´s a little bit weird haha XD

  • "Nihongo de nan te iu no?" or "Nihongo de nan te iimasu ka?" (polite form).

  • arigato

  • got two questions

first i thought that hajimemashite was "nice to meet you" and do you usualy say subject first?

  • dozou yoroshuku (sp?) is nice to meet you. What do you mean by saying the subject first?

  • good lessons, suki!

  • I'm going to stop reading these comments. I'm just trying to learn enough Japanese so that I am able to have a normal conversation with a Japanese person. Although I plan to go deeper into it in college. (My mom is forcing me to learn Spanish and French first) I write down notes like a real gakusei when I watch this video, but everytime I read comments, I see more Japanese words and it ruins my steady flow of learning. -.-" I want to learn from 0. If only I could get a real teacher.

  • amen!

  • @Mulforator then stop bitching and find one

  • Gakusei Desu!

  • Well let me see if I get this straight.

    Hajimemashite, Jeido desu.

  • 花子ちゃんは独人ですか?

  • 独身かって聞きたいの??

    独人っていうとなんかドイツ(独逸)人っですかって聞いてるみたいだよ。日本人って最初に言ってますから(笑)

  • hahahaha!!独身ですか?と聞きたかった。やっぱり、日本語はおかしいだ!おかしいけど面白いよ。

  • try learn a little bit about the Japanese culture

  • arigato.

  • Isn't it true that you can't have a girl teach you japanese because its different between the male and the female

  • No, that is totally untrue. Japanese can be taught by a female or a male. It doesn't matter what gender.

  • Hmmm, I've heard that there is a female pattern compared to a male pattern, but I really do not think it matters who teaches it. The person who teaches it probably teaches it in a neutral way (-thinks of latin lol-)

  • you're right

  • 友達にこのビデオをよく出したありがとう。m(._.)m

  • sorry, her talking in japanese with english captions isn't really doing it for me

  • thanks for this.

what's the Japaneses word for Philippines and Filipino? i hope you'll reply. Ü

  • Filipino-jin?

  • oh wait, maybe its firipino-jin?

  • ONLY thing i understood was...watashi wa!!! :S damn it's hard

  • ... this didnt help me... it was too fast

  • 你们的都是繁体字哦。。

  • Hard!!!!!!!!My brain crack into half. Chinese learning japanese should be easier? Becasue kanji is in chinese.

  • Yup! It is easier! I'm a Chinese and I am learning japanese myself and no one is teaching me but I think its more easier since Kanji is more like chinese.

  • Can japanese understand chinese writings?

  • Erm.. I'm not really sure about the answer since I've never really had a Japanese friend before but I think they can.. Just think.. because there is 1 Japanese word that I know is actually the same as Chinese but the pronounce is not the same.

    学生(jaoanese) = Student (gakusei)

    学生(chinese) = Student (xue sheng)

Do you understand what I'm saying?

  • Yup. We can use spelling in chinese to communicate?

  • What do you mean? You want to use Chinese spelling to communicate with me or are you asking can you communicate with a Japanese by using Chinese spelling?

  • No! bye! thanks! bye! No!

  • I met a few Japanese friends. Japanese has some writings in common with Chinese, so basically they can understand some Chinese writing, but not all.

  • yes it's japanese kanji (you have hiragana, katakana and kanji in japanese writing and kanji is based on chinese letters)

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • how do u pronounce the r

    is it like an l?

  • Glad you asked. I can help here:

The letter R is a cross between R and L. However, it is still very common to hear "Lajio" in place of "Rajio," and "Alabia go" for "Arabia go." Try to cross the two sounds if possible, or else, try to use the method I gave.

    Hope this helps. Okyotsukete!

  • Domo arigatou gozaimasu!

    too formal 4 u? lol

  • Hey! Always glad to lend a helping hand? Trying to learn by any chance?

  • yupp

    i rlly want to

  • could you also use yoroshiku onegaishimasu as pleasure to meet you?

  • hmmmmmmmmm yah but too formal.

if you ll like say to a person that will be your "friend" just say.

  • someone tell me what is finland and finnish on japanese

  • フィンランド=finland

    フィンランド語=finnnish

    フィンランド人=someone from finland

you would say, finland in japanese as (fuin- rando) and add (go) for the language and (jin) for the country of origin.

Btw, this applies to people from all countries, for eg, french. in japanese, フランス then, add jin or go at the back of it. hope it helped

  • what is the purpose of "desu" at the end of the majority of the sentences?

  • I remembered someone told me it's to mark the end of your 'speech'. Like, "roger".

  • it like we say

    it is a cat

    neko desu

desu means it is" most the time ok?

  • If we say "This is a cat", it'll be "kore wa neko desu" right? If I say "kore wa neko..." it's like I'm going to continue saying something.

    Any Japanese here to comment?

  • Desu is used after a declarative sentence that states a fact. There is no direct English translation.

  • sonokata wa urusaidesu.

  • yakamashii no ka. lol

  • 花子さん、はじめまして。アイルランドのトマスです。とて面白くて楽しいビデオです。ありがとう。

  • Konnichi wa. Kanada no Kimi desu. Douzo yoroshiku.

  • i thought teacher was sensei

  • Sensei is used as teacher, or someone with more knowledge in a certain felid as you. Kyoushi, is used for instructor/teacher. It's hard to explain, but the Japanese have ways of giving someone a title depending on age, and educational background.

  • how to say hi at japanese

  • Help me lear Nihongo. Arigatou

  • I'm 10, and apparantly kids are meant to learn different langwiches easier. I still can't find out if yes is hi, or is yes something else! Gosh japanese is hard. I can't go to japan if i can't speak their langwiche. All i know is:

    Kawaii

    Konichiwa

    Ichigo

    Retasu

    Zakuro

    Kisshu

    Pai

    Taruto

(notice lots of them are names from tokyo mew mew)

  • yes is hai in japanese.

  • Well...

    Hai is somewhat formal-ish....^^

I don't like to use 'Hai' too much...

    I prefer 'Un'.

But it depends on the situation, I guess....;P

Un is not exactly a word.....

More like how we say , "Uh huh" or "Mmm..."

Still, it depends on the situation, I guess...

  • langwiche is spelled language
