i was researching this camera to see if the HD quality was any good. from watching this video, it doesn't seem at all as good as the camera i have now, which isn't even HD. what kind of movie editor do you use?
@JuliaLovesTurtles This camera is over a year old and is really geared more towards someone who doesn't have quality as a priority. I have a variety of cameras from a sony CX110 down to the Kodak Zi8. The Zi8 is as cheap as I am willing to film with now, and it does well with the image stabilization off, 1080P mode on a tripod. I used iMovie '09 to edit this clip, but am much happier with Corel Videostudio Pro X3 now.
Hi, I am looking to get this camcorder but I was just wondering what kind of Memory stick duo I should get. Like how many hours of video do I get if I want to record in 720p or in 1080p? How many gigs was this video?
it matters what video editor you use if you use the one that they give you your videos go through a hole bunch of crap and they come bad but if use sony vegas for example it will come out much better
i think i might go with this one, im gonna be using it for outside horse back riding in wooded areas and beside rivers so im not looking for a close up thing just something to get some nice footage, from what i've seen of the videos on here it seems like it would be great for outdoor shooting
This camera is simply "okay". If you compare it to my footage of say, Sturgill Peak, the video is much more choppy. The other sony camera I picked up for under $100 is soooo much better.

...yes, it turns off, i dont think that this is normal, i have seen videos of this camera where the subject is turning this lens "live" front and back and the camera keeps recording... is there anything that im doing wrong, do u have experienced this? I just can rec/take pics viewing the display and the lens pointing me...Im going to end using this shitty camera as a webcam b/c i cant do another thing with it! dont buy this camera, the mic sounds terrible too, check Richy923 video about it...
Hey man, please help me, my damn PM1 doesnt work properly, i doesnt start fliping the top until you get the full flip (facing you), is this normal? if i start flipping the camera and point something i always get the message 'rotate lens portion', so how im going to be able to record if this shit dont let met shoot until that message dissapers, that is at full flip. If i go to this position and i try to return to point something in front of me, this shit turns off...
Remember that I shot this on a tripod. There is no stabilization built in. Outdoor lighting is best. I trust the Sony brand, and this camera tested well.
Final quality will depend on the software you use to edit. My videos are edited on the Mac with the latest iLife '09. Stuck with a PC? Go with Adobe. Stay away from Ulead or other "bargain" software.
Im going to Europe this summer and I want to get a really good camcorder, because Its Europe and I feel like I can't just get any cheap camcorder.
so do you think this one would be able to handle it? and do you know if it would then burn onto DVD in this good of a quality (I watched the HD format)

I am not tech support, and no longer own this camera. It was a stepping stone trial for me.
If it's new, take it back to the store. It's not normal. I have moved up to the W290.
