That's awesome - stupid spoiled bitch. Yea, it was dark so I was using my phone... yea, right, bitch you were texting and carrying one. No one would fault you for using your phone as a light and I highly disbelieve that's what happened here.
Two weeks ago, I met the world's greatest father. {Cough}
He not only decided to take his talkative and hyperactive toddler to the theater but chose to see "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."
It was a real thrill hearing her comments such as "Daddy what's he doing" as a character was being brutally anally raped and her footsteps back and forth through the aisles during intense emotional scenes.
We need one of these in every state. So sick of having to shush and tell people how to act like civilized human beings who respect each other's movie-going experiences. I'm not paying to hear you talk, I'm paying to watch a movie.
Anyone who has ever been to an Alamo Drafthouse knows they are incredibly straight-forward about their no-talking-or-texting-during-a-movie rule. The fact that this girl chose to ignore this policy makes her an idiot. And anyone who takes the side of someone who said "Magnited States of America" is also an idiot.
I hope you guys come out to the West Coast because I'm tired of all the "reglear" theaters that don't do anything about texters, cell-phone talkers, etc. You guys behind Alamo Drafthouse are "un-reglear," so that's why I like you. :)
I now want to attend your guys theater. Every time I go to a local one, there are many many people texting and talking. It would be just so great to see a movie without hearing the "click click click* of a cellphone.
@Framethrower Obviously she was texting and trying to cover up that fact by saying she was trying to find her seat. Even if she did use her cell phone to find her seat, she also admits several times to texting as well.
The content is amusing, but I think it's even funnier how you essentially made fun of her Texas accent. This coming from a place in TEXAS, as if you don't also talk like that.
Lmao my theater just started that policy and it's been great throwing those people out. Oh and we have two MSG about not texting or using your phone. One before the previews and one after so you can't say we didn't tell you. I love this.
Ever seen that show Home Movies? Remember Linda, that really bitchy character Brendan's father marries?... That's the image I get in my head when this girl speaks...
I love the way she starts of claiming she was just using the phone as a flashlight and then forgets this was her cover story approximately nine seconds later!
@Bluetiful At the Drafthouses all the pre-show advertisements and trailers are custom tailored to the movie. For example, when I went to see the Crazies they played PSAs from the 80's about ducking and covering in case of a nuclear attack and this crazy cartoon about how atoms and atom splinting works. So yes, texting during pre-movie time IS RUDE because the pre-movie stuff sets the atmosphere for the the film.
Should I EVER make it to AUSTIN, I will definitely watch at LEAST one movie in your theatre.
I once witnessed a fight in a cinema in Brooklyn because one dude unwrapped his hamburger in the opening sequence of Once Upon a Time in the West. Calamity.
She didnt know the rules cause the first thing she did in the theatre was probably text. I think it's a great idea. Have any of us gone to a movie theatre on opening night??? Its ridiculous. I refuse to go because of the idiotic kids constantly texting, talking, kicking seats, yelling nonsensical things. the IQ and common sense for kids is down the toilet especially manners in certain places. Want to talk, giggle, text, sext, whatever? go to the damn mall.
She obviously wasnt aware of the rule and getting kicked out clearly hurt her feelings a lot. You should have enough compassion to care even if you have to enforce the rule. And you should have enough class not to post her injured rant on the internet to make fun of her.
@artman772001 shut up!!!!! its common sense your not supposed to text in a theater, she was just stupid and ignorant and didn't care about the other people trying to enjoy their movie
Now, I think we may be guilty of judging this young woman too harshly. It is evident that she only recently mastered the basics of reading and writing and in her exuberance found it difficult to restrain herself.
Life will be full of continuing heartbreak for her as she discovers other times and places she can't text, like the drunk tank at the county jail, during GED exams, and at meetings of her local chapter of Mensa.
I love this. If your life is so hectic that you can't turn your phone OFF (not onto silent, OFF!) for two hours while you relax with a film then don't go to a cinema. Our local Arthouse has the exact same policy and enforce it on a regular basis.
She talks about "being polite" while she's using her PHONE in a MOVIE THEATER. Common sense dictates that you should be watching the movie, not texting. I mean, really.
YAY for the Alamo Drafthouse! Turn the damn phone off at a theater. YES IT DOES annoy others. So glad this was posted so all the world can laugh at how stupid she sounds.
I was at the Arbor last week and a friend of mine started texting on his phone during the movie... Wish I had been at the Drafthouse - his ass would have been out of there. :P
Excellent! Now I think all other theaters should follow suit. In fact, next time anyone sees someone like this they should just accidentally spill a large soda all over them and their precious phone.
I wish that theater were here in Brazil, so i could go to movies without getting pissed off with some fuckin dumbass who didn't got any matters from his parents.
BTW, 648 persons are real retarded assholes just like the bitch from the video...hahaha
If I lived in Austin I'd go to this theater every day!!! I rarely go to the movies anymore because rude, selfish, entitled people cant shut their holes or put their phones away for 2 damn hrs. If you want to talk or play on your phone..GTFO! Let everyone else who actually wants to SEE the movie we paid for do it.
"I got kicked out for texting" "I was using my phone as a flashlight" "why would anyone care that I was texting? It was on silent anyway." Contradiction does not make you look any better.
@BIuetiful Because if you're texting in a movie theater, it's more than likely you're going to have the backlight on, and that can disturb other patrons. It's called common courtesy.
Whoever that was you were arguing with, they're gone now and their account's gone too. i bet you they got their ass kicked for texting in a movie Friday night. :D
@zeroslashj You were very rude actually. That's YOUR opinion, clearly you don't know me or have any idea of who I am in real life, your assumptions are only that, assumptions. Move on and quit replying to me. There's nothing else to be said to you, you're escalating this into something it shouldn't be. It's my opinion against yours.
In a dark room, even the smallest light source is incredibly obvious. It's very distracting and ruins the atmosphere to see little glowing things around you. Not to mention, it's very rude when you and friends have agreed to see a movie yet you're too engrossed in facebook or other friends to just sit there politely and share the experience, as you've agreed to do.
@HandsomeNamed I just don't see the big deal, I don't own a cellphone and I don't really need one, but I still wouldn't mind someone texting beside me. As long as they don't talk on the phone or talk through out the movie, I am fine..isn't the movie screen glowing anyway? When I go to a movie theater I honestly don't really focus on my surroundings just on the screen..to each their own! We all have different opinions and are all entitled to them.
Precisely, their claim is not that it is going to bother everyone, but that it is likely to bother some (which is true), Why should even one person have their experience spoiled, if they've all paid the same for it? It would be different, of course, if cellphone use were essential, and texters were "missing out" by not doing it constantly. But for goodness sake, they can't leave it alone for 90 minutes? I still think it's rude, if they're watching a movie with company :)
@HandsomeNamed If there are commercials being given and the movie isn't on the screen, then texting shouldn't be a problem. Like I said, it's my opinion and I really don't see the big deal with *texting* although I do see the big deal with *talking on the phone* or *talking to someone else, even whispering* while watching a movie.
@BIuetiful That you don't see the problem with texting IS the problem. You're not the only person in the theater. If you're at your own home, or at a theater that you own, then have at it. Do what you want. Texting at the theaters does bother other people... even when commercials or trailers are running. People text during movies and it's hard to ignore someone sending up a bright beacon of light every several minutes.
Try watching a movie in Metro Detroit and Dearborn. Every arab in the theater will have their cell phone out texting and laughing without any sense of respect for others. Management of these theatre's don't have the balls to kick these sandbags out because they're wussies.
I wish every theatre, movie house and concert hall would institute this rule, a zero tolerance rule. I am tired of paying good money to see events and having it ruined by phones ringing, people actually talking on their phone while a show is in progress, or text (how delightful) to be watching a move and suddenly a phone lights up ahead of you.
News flash there is no constitutionally protected right to talk or text in a theatre.
OMG that was hilarious! I loved "MAGNITED States of America!" and "reglear". Great work on this black screen "subtitles" version. So funny. I live in Vancouver Canada but if EVER I am in Auston, I promise to let the Alamo Draft House "take my money"! Well done.
If you go to a movie theater to text instead of say you know, WATCHING THE MOVIE, sit outside so people who went to a theater to WATCH A MOVIE, can actually WATCH THE MOVIE.
I don't know why people are sticking up for her. It is too fucking annoying when I'm trying to watch a movie and can see the glare from somebody's damn cell phone. Watch the movie or stay home. Bitch.
@GDGaming: in many situations it is a polite alternative but in movie theatre's there is no alternative but to walk out and call or text in the hallway.
@GDGaming Both texting and talking take you OUT of a movie and can ruin a dramatic scene. It's only a small percentage of film-goers who are so addicted to a stupid piece of electronics that they can't put their phones away for 2 hours so the rest of us can enjoy something we shelled out good money for.
OMG for all of you who are on that stupid bitch's side y'al deserve to be fucking slapped. You go to the theater to watch the movie NOT text on your damn cell. If you want to text on your cell why even show up? Sorry dumbasses but real courteous is doing what Alamo Drafthouse does. Go figure that assholes who AREN'T from Austin or Texas at that would run their mouth like now.
@classemurasame Wow really? Apologize to her? Why? That's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Oh yes let's apologize to the spoiled little bitch that didn't get her way oh wait HUGE SIGN that says no cell phone use when you walk in. That's common curtsey to NOT TALK, NOT TEXT, ETC when you walk into a theater but I guess only the people down here in Austin, Texas are born with manners.
awesome, you kick them out, that's awesome at least somebody has a bit of sense in them....one customers priority of texting shouldn't go ahead of everyone else who is trying to watch the film. Bring it to the supreme court and make it federal law. Fucking stuck up bitch.
@Shaftsus Hahaha I love you because I totally agree! All these people who are like ooh poor girl man whatever STFU. I'm glad someone did something. That's why I love Austin and living in it because our city isn't afraid to do stuff like this.
Sounds good to me, sat through the entire first sherlock holmes right behind a girl who texted nonstop. She has her screen brightness up to max so everyone behind her was squinting and it was just laughable when the screen was pitch black because everyone in the whole theatre was turning to look at her, but she didn't even notice because she never looked up from her screen. Why did she pay 10 bucks to go see a movie then!?
For those trying to defend this girl because she "didn't know about the policy," there are signs everywhere, funny PSA's, plus you get 3 warnings before you get kicked out, unless you become belligerent first. Also, some may not mind texting, but a lot of people hate it, so the establishment is for customers who don't want annoying distractions. If that's a problem, go to one of the other 50 bajillion theaters that don't do anything about it. Clearly, you are not one of the target customers.
@Amberiella I agree the people defending this girl are just as ignorant as she is. They're probably the same people who use their phones in theater so that's why they're on her side. I'm sorry but it's a total waste of money to buy a ticket if your not going to watch the movie and it's extremely rude to others who actually are trying to watch the movie. I was born and raised in Austin. I love my city especially now that I saw this video. I'd never want to live anywhere else
Went to see Robert Kelley at the Wilbur in Boston last night (I bought the tix for Xmas.) Did we get to enjoy the show? Nope. Two drunken Real Housewives of Revere spent 75% of the show talking in full voice. BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH! One of them had the gall to say she didn't find Robert Kelley funny, amazing because she never STFU long enough to hear any of his act. I gestured to them several times to keep it down and was met with more rudeness. I would have LOVED it if management had tossed them out!
babies also shouldnt be allowed in any theater . its laughable when people bring them , how shitty their lives must be that they have to bring a baby in there
I work at a theatre in a small town, we have an alarm on the exit doors and when it went off one night i had to go in and check if somebody was sneaking in. Turns out some drunk guy needed to pee and was too lazy to go to the wash room so he just opened the exit door to take a piss, while poking his head in to still watch the damn movie. People are crazy.
Don't forget everybody they serve alcohol. It is essentially a bar that plays movies. It has the same vibe as a titty bar except it's movies instead of titties. You can't take your kids there and you wouldn't want to take your Grandma. If you act up then bouncers bounce you out - no refunds. They anxiously anticipate people breaking rules so they can get tough with you and they do love to do this. I've seen the elated satisfaction in their faces when they've done it.
Assholes like her are the reason I no longer go to the movies. I'm sick to death of these self absorbed losers. Go to a movie at midnight and skip that self adorning morons like her and the brats and the munchers and enjoy the movie because there's only six of you there.
Hope that stupid girl realizes that the rest of the United States thinks she got off too easy. The only way she could be more derided would be for her to be a UCLA student who cuts a You Tube video about how she can't stand Asians. Or an even dumber girl who wished someone would invent a plague that targeted only African-Americans but then claimed she isn't a racist. Ignorant, inconsiderate, and entitled must be catching.
Saw this via link from Andrew Sullivan's blog. Just wanted to give a shout out to Alamo Drafthouse for 86'ing the dumbbell who left this voice message. I wish our local theater had the same policy for dealing with entitled twits who turn on their cellphones in the middle of a film.
I love Austin. I love Texas. I love the Alamo Drafthouse. Been there many times. I've never had problems BUT they do not treat people well. It is dirty and it is run by smarmy pierced hippies who have no concern about your movie going experience. Sadly for Americans who can maintain a personal decorum in a traditional theater, the Alamo Drafthouse model (based on European cinema stalls) is our future.
I love how she first claims she was just using her phone as a flashlight, than changes her story to "I didn't know I couldn't text!"

@goggles86 No, it's possible to prevent people from viewing your channel. BIuetiful hid theirs for reasons unknown.

@zeroslashj What are you talking about? You were rude to me, so I was rude back. You're really delusional, quit replying to me already.
BIuetiful 3 weeks ago
@BIuetiful I was never rude to you in the first place. And if I was, I apologize, but clearly you have no understanding of the feelings of others.
zeroslashj 3 weeks ago
@zeroslashj You were very rude actually. That's YOUR opinion, clearly you don't know me or have any idea of who I am in real life, your assumptions are only that, assumptions. Move on and quit replying to me. There's nothing else to be said to you, you're escalating this into something it shouldn't be. It's my opinion against yours.
BIuetiful 3 weeks ago
@BIuetiful Then what happens when you're thrown out of a movie theater?
And yes, I'm escalating it. That's the Internet, sweetheart. And yes, I'm going to start actually being rude.
zeroslashj 3 weeks ago
@BIuetiful
HandsomeNamed 3 weeks ago
@HandsomeNamed I just don't see the big deal, I don't own a cellphone and I don't really need one, but I still wouldn't mind someone texting beside me. As long as they don't talk on the phone or talk through out the movie, I am fine..isn't the movie screen glowing anyway? When I go to a movie theater I honestly don't really focus on my surroundings just on the screen..to each their own! We all have different opinions and are all entitled to them.
BIuetiful 3 weeks ago
@BIuetiful
HandsomeNamed 3 weeks ago
@HandsomeNamed If there are commercials being given and the movie isn't on the screen, then texting shouldn't be a problem. Like I said, it's my opinion and I really don't see the big deal with *texting* although I do see the big deal with *talking on the phone* or *talking to someone else, even whispering* while watching a movie.
BIuetiful 3 weeks ago
@BIuetiful That you don't see the problem with texting IS the problem. You're not the only person in the theater. If you're at your own home, or at a theater that you own, then have at it. Do what you want. Texting at the theaters does bother other people... even when commercials or trailers are running. People text during movies and it's hard to ignore someone sending up a bright beacon of light every several minutes.

@TsugaruClan Not my problem.

TorontoGeorge 1 month ago
OMG that was hilarious! I loved "MAGNITED States of America!" and "reglear". Great work on this black screen "subtitles" version. So funny. I live in Vancouver Canada but if EVER I am in Auston, I promise to let the Alamo Draft House "take my money"! Well done.

If you go to a movie theater to text instead of say you know, WATCHING THE MOVIE, sit outside so people who went to a theater to WATCH A MOVIE, can actually WATCH THE MOVIE.

I would've actually thought that texting would be a polite alternative to talking on the phone...
GDGaming 1 month ago
@GDGaming: in many situations it is a polite alternative but in movie theatre's there is no alternative but to walk out and call or text in the hallway.
ArmyDudeization 1 month ago
@GDGaming Both texting and talking take you OUT of a movie and can ruin a dramatic scene. It's only a small percentage of film-goers who are so addicted to a stupid piece of electronics that they can't put their phones away for 2 hours so the rest of us can enjoy something we shelled out good money for.
KookyCanuck 1 month ago

MCHammer2007a 1 month ago
For those trying to defend this girl because she "didn't know about the policy," there are signs everywhere, funny PSA's, plus you get 3 warnings before you get kicked out, unless you become belligerent first. Also, some may not mind texting, but a lot of people hate it, so the establishment is for customers who don't want annoying distractions. If that's a problem, go to one of the other 50 bajillion theaters that don't do anything about it. Clearly, you are not one of the target customers.
Amberiella 1 month ago

I wish our local theater had the same policy for dealing with entitled twits who turn on their cellphones in the middle of a film.
jeffunruh 1 month ago
I love Austin. I love Texas. I love the Alamo Drafthouse. Been there many times. I've never had problems BUT they do not treat people well. It is dirty and it is run by smarmy pierced hippies who have no concern about your movie going experience. Sadly for Americans who can maintain a personal decorum in a traditional theater, the Alamo Drafthouse model (based on European cinema stalls) is our future.
