Al Gore - quite simply - is trying his DAMN BEST to DESTROY the American economy. There isn't any way around it, if you're objective - rather than emotionally reactive. Every SINGLE alternative to HIS plan is "bad". And he's taken measures to prevent any alternatives to his plan from even being discussed. He deems himself MORE QUALIFIED than the professionals on the ground. Of course he does - because this isn't a debate. This is a DECLARATION. And he stands to make BILLIONS, if successful.

I got a good belly laugh from gore's comment about global warming causing catastrophic fires. Even a wet behind the ears forestry student knows the cause is the unnatural supression of natural wildfire. Al Gore, I commend you in your efforts to expose your ignorance of the environment. Walden is the hero for healthy forests and the environment here, not al gore. Industrialists and environmentalists alike should support Walden for the highest offices.

Global Warming has nothing to do with the Pine Beatles in Canada, if the forests were left alone there would be natural wild fires now a days they put out any fire started in the Lodge Pole Pine forests leaving the dead needles and branches to build up on the forest floor making the next fires even worse to control. Jack Pine relies on forest fires for reproduction and the Jack Pine forests are being hammered by the Pine Beatles as well because of the fact they don't use controlled burns.

I live in the 20% unemployment county and let me say "If we could log, we could live!!". The work employs loads of people, and its a great way of managing our forests as well.

Gore looks a little "put on the spot" doesn't he? I would challenge him to come out and take a look at our forests. There's little to no management right now and look at the fires of 2007 it's sad our forests look this bad.

Thank you, Congressman Walden, for further exposing the pseudo-science and politics that fuels Al Gore's threats of apocalypse. It is past time to get scientific management back into our nation's forests -- the rural citizens of Oregon have needlessly suffered (along with the forests and wildlife) long enough.

I was also pleased to see you challenge Gore's assertion that the NW Forest Plan has been a "success." It has been a disaster; a fact to which your photographs bear direct testimony.

Keep up the good work Walden. Gore looked like a fool in this exchange. It was very interesting when Gore speaks against NEPA; by doing so, he advocates against the law.

Gore's real agenda has nothing to do with environmental protection and this video shows that his ability to argue the issue is quite limited. Gore just wants central control over what we now refer to as "public lands" and what in 10 years will be called the "Wallowa-Whitman National Forest of China."
