Actually, while similar to skeleton, this is the cresta run and is different. I know because I have done both (I did skeleton on the Iggls track in Innsbruck). When riding cresta one wears spike on the toes and is more active steering. The corner where they are wiping out is called shuttlecock and is designed to take out riders who are out of line and would likely crash on the later, faster bits.

LOL you're retarded. Normal downhill recreational snowboarders can get going fast... but not near those speeds buddy. You'd be lucky to hit 50 mph. The Olympics on the other hand is completely different. Plus who cares about going fast? You're supposed to stay in control at all times, and there are WAY too many noobs in snowboarding to be attempting "60 or 70 miles an hour".

Speed record on a snowboard is 125 miles per hour. I personally have clocked 85 on skis without racing gear or on any special slope, if you were set up for it 100 miles per hour wouldn't be an issue at all.
