Hey girl....I BC'd today! Can you believe it! 14 months transition and I felt it was "the day." I cut it myself and I do you know my curls are the bomb! I thought my hair was wavy...it is sooooo curly and appeared wavy because of the weight! Anyway, now comes the hairstyle and product experiment process. Wish me well!
I just did the big cut!!! how should i keep my hair to have it keep growing? does it matter that some of my hair is a little un-even (but when curly u cant tell lol) will it still grow) i have curly hair so i have to wet it like everyday to keep my curls in and i use regular condition...is this good? after i cut my hair i could tell it was thicker and curlier before my ends still had perm and the top was curly and bottom straight yuck lol
@faithnsexy CONGRATS on your bc. It is not necessary to wet the hair daily. The key is keeping the hair well moisturized and balancing out the moisture / protein levels in the hair. I have already done the big chop and have been natural for over a year. I love being natural but relaxed hair is much more convenient. My natural gets dry and brittle very easy so I am going to try your product to see if it helps.
So would that be the $87.99 set or the $75.99 one....sorry to be asking so many questions but I really want to get this right and this is my first time.
Ok cause I would sooo not look good with short hair at all, as far as your products what do I start off buying? I had to put a perm in my hair about a month ago cause my hair was over taking the gel and making it look like I never had any on and I need the gel. so how do I start I start I've been on your site many times a day and I know I may have missed it.......
@1977Msfelicia If you are looking for products to use on a daily basis, a great start would be our Hydratherma Naturals protein balance leave in, daily moisturizing growth lotion and sealing in the moisture and protein with the hair growth oil. After washing and deep conditioning with the Hydratherma Naturals products, section the hair in 4 sections. To each section (while still wet), apply the protein balance leave in, growth lotion and seal in with oil. Then, style as usual. thanks!
@1977Msfelicia No it is not necessary:-) You can transition slowly. Please check out our HealthyHairJourney com website under the hair growth tip link. We have some great tips on how to transition from relaxed to natural. thx!
African American women are so beautiful. I hate how some of my black friends think they need to get weaves or get their hair relaxed! And it makes me wonder what the hell they're thinking when they tell me they want my hair!! Yall do so much for your hair and it shows.
Ur so beautiful!!!! I just applied an relaxer a few weeks ago, but now I'm wearing kinky twist. Hopefully my natural hair will start to grow and the big chop will be coming soon! I just wish I had the finance to buy the products you are using :( Ur still my inspiration!!!!
I love this video, It amazes me how u just cut all that hair off to start from scratch. I recently decided to go natural and did my first video about how my hair effects my self esteem, and I really have to credit u for giving me that extra push to go ahead and take my wig off and face me. So thank you very much. :>)
I really love this video...I am 6 1/2 wks post big chop and STRUGGLING WITH DRYNESS!!!! I am very interested in your products and will be placing an order soon. So far NOTHING that I have done has helped with the dryness. Some things work and feel really good and soft while my hair is wet, but once it drys, it is DRY!!! Any suggestions that you can offer would be fab. God Bless!!
@aj72crane Hey. This works for me and keeps my hair well moisturized. After washing and deep conditioning with the Hydratherma Naturals products, section the hair in 4 sections. To each section (while still wet), apply the Hydratherma Naturals protein balance leave in, growth lotion and seal in with oil. Then, style as usual. Blessings!
thank you for this you really inspired me to transition back into my natural roots i am at a point where i dont what to do with my hair anymore...but thanks to u i do now...thank you once again nd i will have lots of questions for you..lol ..oh yeah before i go do you have any tips on how to get a perm outof your hair faster?
@HealthyHairJourney oh okay becuz i heard of washing your hair with eggs mayo nd lemon juice or a beer ...well i actually cut my hair to about 1inch nd i box braid it up am leaving it that way untill nov then im gonna cut of th remaining perm nd braid my hair up again
wow, awesome video!! so glad i found you :-) now i really have the urge to just cut all of my relaxed ends off. i plan on waiting 'til October cuz then i'll have 6 months of growth but i just may do it sooner. very inspiring video! thanks!!
I am so glad I found your tutorial. I just start in the transitioned it has been 7 weeks since i had an relaxed. i am not ready to cut my hair. Until december. I have trim my end already so now I am taking it slow. Because I am tired of Perm. Any way ; thank you.so much. I am looking forward to December when I take my first big chop. In mean time I will be justing wash my hair and braid it. Thank you again.
I am so inspired. I have been transitioning for five months and just decided this week to do the BC on tomorrow. Your hair is beautiful and I have seen other videos and updates. Thanks for inspiring me!!!
OMG. hats off to you for being brave enuff to do that. and soo calm while doing so. was that all your own hair. becuz if so that shit was loooooong. and u just chopped if all off wit easy. omg u r brave. i probably would have been crying
the end results look real good but girl you have alot of will power to cut off all that long hair. i am struggling to grow my hair and its not even as long as yours when you cut yours! i was inspired by you to do my big chop and i did it amonth ago. you have any advice for very thin hairline?
yay! finally a vid that matches my stage in my transition..
what did you use to define ur curls.. i wanna BC soon but i wanna have all the products before I do.. what did you find that worked best on your hair.. ie. oils, deep conditioners, gels etc?
so inspiring , my hair was that long until , all the breakage, now it's shoulder length, broken in the top middle of my hair, my hair has always been thick and mid back, my kids are like mom whats wrong with your hair, i want to cry for real, i have been in transiton for 4 months now,,
Congrats! That was wonderful! I have hardly anything close to your relaxed length and I am nervous to do it again!!! You have given me encouragement! Thank you!! God Bless!!
words cannot even describe how inspiring this was for me. I mean seriously tears. thank you so much for posting this. really thank you. Peace & Blessings.
i commend you..it takes courage to go from your original length to such a short look..but i think i speak for everyone when i say it REALLY looks good on you.
Ok let me try and break in down for you.African Americans have naturally curly/coiled hair so we use relaxers or "perms" to relax those curls/coils so our hair can b straight. sometimes though the chemicals in the perms can have damaging effects on the hair. so as a result some people choose to go natural which is basically when they stop chemicaly straightening thier hair. the transitioning phase is when the permed or relaxed hair is growing out &your natural curly texture is growing back in.
@shanalynn eyes i decided to transition out in the middle of 2009 which i did not know it was transitioning i just wanted to stop getting perms i had my hair either pressed are braided or permed since as long as i remembered when i seen my natural hair for the first time growing out it was beautiful wavy and curly i love it and it has grew alot faster it looks shorter when its in its natural texture but i still love it i will never relax my hair again also i get more comments about my hair.
Wow..kudos to you! How did u do that with a straight face? I would've been cringing the whole time. Im transitioning right now and i plan on cutting my hair in a few months. I hope i can take it like a woman like u did..LOL
Wow!!! I can't believe how much hair you cut off. Your hair looks really nice natural. I have been thinking about going natural myself, so I have been on here watching people do their "big chops", very inspirational. :)
You are so brave and your hair is cute! I did my bc yesterday. I transitionned for 7 months. i originally wanted to transition for a year but I got impatient. I wasn't as courageous as you though. My little cousin did it for me. but , i felt so liberated at the end. Relaxer free at last!
you had to cut so much hair. I would have cried. I'm transitioning now but i cut off the relaxed ends on half of my head(from ear to ear) but i can't bring myself to finish the other half so i'm going to wait till my new growth reaches shoulder length.
OMG ..you are my inspiration!!! I have all of your Hydrathermals Natural products and they are working GREAT for my hair! I'm so thankful that I ran across your website! This is my second time buying your products and I'll continue to buy them. I have been transitioning for 4 months so far. I plan to transition for about a year and then do the BC. I was wondering how often I should trim my ends..and how often should I cowash?? Thanks for the inspiration!!

That is wonderful!!! You can trim your ends every 6-8 weeks. That should be good enough until all of your relaxed ends are cut off. I usually don't cowash. I just wash and dee condition weekly. If you workout a lot you can co wash daily if you wish but the less you manipulate the hair the better.
I did my big chop yesterday. My hair is the same length as yours in these video. my hair doesn't have a curls,it's just really frizzy. even when i wet it it's no curls. do you have any idea for someone with my hair type? I would like to have your end result hair style. i love this video. i just need serious help.
You should do a double strand twist while it's wet with some oil or creams of your choice. Let it air dry and take out your twist. It will look really pretty :)
Hey Girl, ( figure of speech) : )......I was so shocked to osee you cutting your hair...you look wonderful...you gave me the courage to say, I'm going back natural..now I will start my process...I'm going to start with the rods to get so more natural growth..thank you ....you look GREAT
I have a quick question though, I'm having a hard time keeping my hair moisturize. I Cowash my hair once every three days either with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap or Burt Bees Deep Conditioner. I use Hawaiian Silk Miracle Worker everyday to moisturize my hair. It works, but it takes about two days of use to look moisturize. I want to know what else could I use. Thankies! =)
your hair looks great. i am getting my hair cut 2 to 3 inches next Tuesday, and i am freaking, because i am not too sure what it would look like. but i want to, because i am sick and tired of relaxing(it damage my hair), and i am ready to be full out natural(locks)
I am so annoyed. My mother calls everyone who does the BC are crazy, being foolish and don't knwo what they're doing EVENTHOUGH I showed her videos of people who have transitioned and she still won't listen. My hair has been spoilt for about 2-3 years and the middle of my scalp is a war sight.... she doesnt understand and is just like "just trim it" does anyone else have such annoying parents like that? She has the luck to have an incredibly easy handle texture so she doesnt even know
My hair literally caught on fire last year. I was lighting a candle & the flame caught onto my hair, and I lost a lot of it. My neighbor cut off the damaged parts, and I wore a wig to hide the short, natural hair. The hair that remained was damaged - not from the fire, but from relaxers.
Eventually I got the rest of my hair chopped off & been natural ever since. It's funny how something so terrible could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
I did my hair like this and it came out great. My hair lasts for days too. I like sitting under the drier too because i use activator gel and sometimes it takes a while to dry. Thanks so much for this video.
good luck to u ............if u dnt kno abt it already try wild hair growth oil i just got it over the weekend sexysugarshelly put me on that (she just did her big chop 2) i kno its gna work nd u can but it at sallys
omg ....go have guts lol but i kno how u feel i hate relaxed hair i remeber my aunt put two perms in my hair at the same time and my hair fell out like crazy i was pissed...but all of my relaxed hair fell out but my hair gre back since then its at my shoulder or a little longer .....but now im all natural baby lol im just trying to grow as long as it used to be because itwas at the middle of my back abnd i have been fiendin for that hair legth for soo long....wish me luck
girlfriend, you shocked me!! i thought u were just going to show up with your hair cut, but u did it yourself. You are brave and empowering to me. I want to go natural as well but i am pacing myself. You are beautiful and i wish u the best with your hair journey.
Thanks for so much great information. I just ordered one of the product packages from your site and I am very hopeful that I will see good results over time. I have been loc'd for 8 years but am in the process of taking out my locs to sport my natural hair loose for the first time ever. Your videos are great!
me and my sister went to the barbershop on saturday, and she did a huge shop! she has a fade now. she's on a natural hair journey, and im supporting her =]
When I was transitioning, I saw this video and was like "WOW, maybe I need to just do this and get it over with!" And then when I saw how fierce you looked after, I knew that i wanted to BC sooner than later. I didn't do it myself, but I didn't transition as long as I thought I would have.
Wow...you look really good with short hair! Almost everyone can look good with long hair but not many can pull off a short style beautifully! I just went through my BC a week ago today!
that was so hard to watch!! especially sfter watching yur hair growth journey very beautiful outcome confidence really makes the woman as long as you feel good go girl!
I really want to go natural too, i tried three times. My hair came out a lot. last year i cut 5 inches off my hair to go natural. I'm still have trouble growing my natural hair out. maybe i'll try it again.I want to soooooo bad. I love your video. Thank you for caring your exprience.
!WOW! I'm actually going on a natural jurney and I've actually been doing this for about a month now, cause I really wanted to get the nae and price for those products again, I also wanted to know if you were a hair styles.
do you know what hair texture you have? i think mine is a 4c or somethin ... just goin off a picture i saw on the internet. but i wanted to try the ic styling gel but i dunno if it would work the same for my hair as yours. my curls are really tight like ... hmmm ... maybe like macy grays hair ... (i really didnt wanna use her for an example but hey) ... what do you think? i guess i can always return it if it doesnt work out
Yeah it should work. just make sure that your hair is well moisturized and sealed with oil before using the gel. also make sure that your hair is soaking wet
I have been watching your hair transform, and i love it, i'm going to perm my hair for the first time, and cut it into a style, so i would like to know what relaxer (perm) you use ??
Wow! It's amazing to watch your transformation. I am always back and forth with what I want to do with my hairt. I don't have the talent, time or energy to spend on my hair. If I'm not braided or twisted. I'm wearing a wig. I actually favor you very much. I have big brown eyes, same complextion and thick, So I think I could pass this off. What scares me is I finally have a good leghth and it took awhile to get here. So now i'm scared to cut again. But I love your hair! I may try it
I have been thinking about going natural. I haven't relaxed for almost 2 months. I really wanted to go natural for almost 10 years now but haven't really put much thought into it until recently. I've came across several tutorials of the "big chop" and loved every one of them especially yours only because you showed no fear and I love that, it was very inspiring and I thank you for that. Love your hair!
I have been transitioning since Dec. 08and I was thinking about doing my BC on tomorrow, Independence Day! I'm so glad I came across your vid because our hair is the same length. Most videos are of women with shorter hair. There struggle is just as unique, but I was just so afraid to lose the length. You have inspired me to seek my natural coils! Great vid and I can't wait to BC!

Thanks!!

I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!
I BC on July 30 and lovin my hair!!

I did the BC, too.
I love my natural hair now.
Cyyael 2 years ago 3
I did my hair like this and it came out great. My hair lasts for days too. I like sitting under the drier too because i use activator gel and sometimes it takes a while to dry. Thanks so much for this video.

When I was transitioning, I saw this video and was like "WOW, maybe I need to just do this and get it over with!" And then when I saw how fierce you looked after, I knew that i wanted to BC sooner than later. I didn't do it myself, but I didn't transition as long as I thought I would have.

do you know what hair texture you have? i think mine is a 4c or somethin ... just goin off a picture i saw on the internet. but i wanted to try the ic styling gel but i dunno if it would work the same for my hair as yours. my curls are really tight like ... hmmm ... maybe like macy grays hair ... (i really didnt wanna use her for an example but hey) ... what do you think? i guess i can always return it if it doesnt work out
nicurry24 2 years ago
Yeah it should work. just make sure that your hair is well moisturized and sealed with oil before using the gel. also make sure that your hair is soaking wet

I have been watching your hair transform, and i love it, i'm going to perm my hair for the first time, and cut it into a style, so i would like to know what relaxer (perm) you use ??
Neisha7738 2 years ago
Hey! I like silk elements lye relaxer. you can get it from sallys. thx
HealthyHairJourney 2 years ago
