  • Love it! Just a pity that tubular bell stop is all a good quarter-tone flat! I really must get to see and hear (and, who knows, maybe one day even play) this magical instrument.

  • Es tan grandioso oirlo y tan espectacular.....hace reflexionar.....pensar en lo hermoso de todo lo que involucra...que la verdad no encuentro las palabras exactas para explicarlo.......BELLISIMO

  • Just ordered my CD. Massive string section on this Organ, impossible to get this kind of sound anywhere else.

Many thanks to all involved, and of course the Organist

  • JUST GREAT

  • Was that Rob Ross, the organist...super !!

  • organy mają fenomenalne brzmienie! Aż ciarki przechodzą po skórze!

  • What can one say? Sometimes the beauty is so great that words simply fail. Pax Christi.

  • Artistic Orgasm!!! Thank!!

  • So beautiful. Thank you.

  • Found this video today, and it's sounds so beautiful to me that i just ordered the CD :-)

  • I would love to explore the organ. I think it is the most great instruments we got, and anything can be played on them. Switch on the air and hit the keys :)

  • It's fascinatring looking at organ's insides. Such a beautiful thing, and we (the audience) never get to see it. Except here.

    Thanks so much.

  • this video is so sad, when it shows the outfits of the late virgil Fox's we miss him

  • @dustermouse - I put this on my Facebook profile recently and no one was interested...how sad. This is beautiful.

  • @silverstartrucker am about to post it on my facebook page as well...hopefully it'll touch at least one of my friends. i'm not a christian, but this music is just beautiful and music has no religion. I've heard this organ live...it is quite the experience! Philly has a jewel in Center City.

  • @himanv - I am not on your facebook friends list so will not be able to like and put a comment under it...Arthur J Dale...Nottingham...on my photo I am wearinhg a Santa Claus outfit. I went out wearing it yesterday and all the sweet little children were saying " Look mummy, Santa :-)

  • I LIKE TO GET MY HANDS ON THE SCUMBAG WHO DISLIKED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kentwesterly - I could name two on Youtube but better not. They follow Cameron Carpenter round criticising his videos. They are supposed to be organists but you will find nothing on Youtube by them. They like to criticise and click dislike but do not want to be criticised themselves...sad b-----d's

  • @silverstartrucker ........sad b-----d's. Indeed. Characteristics of loosers......

  • how long does it take to learn how to play this organ?

  • @agwatney12051992 Figure 100,000 hours of dedicated study to get half way decent, and a lifetime to get really good!

  • I Love this Organ, the sound is GREAT

  • 3:21 - ahhhhhhhhhh... I Love this Sound - It's Solemn....

  • Simply divine!!!

  • Wonderful piece of music, a famous Christmas tune, and this is played the best I have ever heard.

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS.......

  • The vox humana can be so beuitiful sometimes opposed to its usual nasaly voice, very nice arrangement :)

  • This is the best rendition of Silent Night I have ever heard. To hear it in person would have been a Christmas gift in itself!

  • my godness,

    this is so beautiful

  • Thanks for posting bombarde1701a and for providing the origin of the track. This is a lovely piece - now I know what to put on my Christmas list.

For pipe organ lovers a visit to hear The Wanamaker is a lifetime experience.

  • Wow!

  • it would be nice if carol williams would have tried to play some jazzy tunes with that monster:-)

  • Wow, fantastic! Greatings from germany!

  • whew!

  • Thank You for sharing.

I have heard this wonderful organ many times in person.

Brings back a lot of fond memories of a golden age.

  • Virgil Fox is my favorite organist...but Conte does a masterful job with this song. Enjoyed it.

  • I'm sorry for giving the wrong information to technocrash09. Thanks for reminding me silverstartrucker !!! And thanks for posting this beautiful improvisation.

  • So beautiful and moving. Attended VF recitals many times and my favourite LP's of his are "The Christmas Album" and "Into the classics". Both recorded at Riverside NYC.

  • The organist is Virgil Fox

  • @gcvanwerd1 - This is Peter Richard Conte.

  • Who is the organist here?

  • This is the most beautiful version of Silent Night' I' ve ever heard. Thanks for posting.

    Greetings from Holland.

  • Thank You for this excellent recording! Photographs much appreciated.

  • How sweet. If this doesn't convert you, nothing can.

  • Good organ sound. Inadequate, one dimensional musical arrangement. The bells should have been left out of the playing. They do not add anything.

  • Wonderful sound!! Thanks for posting it. And well done to the preservation society for keeping the organ in great condition.

  • @ 1:45 I begin to cry... so beautiful, and moving

  • i don't have a brake.... please kill me or give heare me this song. ohhhhh.... i can't say how much I feel, when I heare this music

  • Every hair on my body is standing straight up, and tears are pouring down my face.

  • One of the Best audio representations (on You Tube) of this organ!!

  • the organ sound is great but the bells are so bad.

  • what an amazing string division

  • Thank you! I will always have fond memories from my childhood of JohnWanamaker and their Christmas traditions. I sincerely hope that Macy's carry on this Philadelphia treasure.

  • Those strings and voxes are really quite something hear. Never heard anything like that before. How beautiful!

  • Thank you for this beautiful video. I am thrilled!

  • I hear this all the time but this takes it to another level as for the wide sound and seems to slowly build to fill the space and the bells sound like its a grand hall even though its just a huge organ in a large department store, if anything ever happened to the place or damage to the organ it would be a huge loss to the music community, its the worlds second biggest organ as for the pipe amount, and played everyday unlike some of the smaller ones in concert halls played every so often.

  • WOW!!! That is beautiful....I am going to jump in the car this holiday season and take a drive to Macys to hear this in person.

  • The complexity of the tones is absolutely incredible, and is made all the more astounding by the fact that it is all being created by a single person playing a single instrument, without any sort of electronic or digital aid.

the video was great too, btw.

  • Thank God for the pipe organ.

  • The nicest I've heard. Many Thanks

  • Fabulous video! Compliments to Peter Richard Conte for this awsome arrangement of Silent Night on the Wanamaker "King of Instruments."

    Thanks for sharing Marcus.

    Best Wishes,

    Roy

  • A moment of Clarity...Absolute clement. Thank you silverstartruck for sending this link

  • Beautiful. Absolutely stunning.

  • Wow, that was chilling. I'm in another world while listening to this.

  • Without words.

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • I have this CD and let me say it is just an amazing CD. I am so glad I purchased it. The Wanamaker sounds just beautiful. I have also had the pleasure of hearing this piece played live on the Wanamaker with the Philadelphia Brass and let me say it sounds even better live. The beautiful sounds of the Wanamaker just make you feel good when you are standing there in the Grand Court.

  • I live in Brazil, can you send me a copy this CD??

  • Merci pour cette vidéo!

    C'est d'une beauté indéfinissable !

  • @Rigilkentarus974 Oui c'est mon ami

  • That's Virgil Fox's arrangement.

  • I'll bet that organ packs a punch when all the stops are pulled out.

  • what an awesome sound, those strings are so soothing!!!
