I am appealed by both actions, that of the pastor and that of those Afghans. I understand that the Quran is seen a holly book, but technically it's just printed paper. The words and the message inside is what counts not the paper they are printed on. I don't think that those UN people, half a world away deserved to die for something they did not do and might have not even agreed with. The last Suras revieled abrogated the early tolerant Suras in Medina when Mohamed had no power. As soon as he gained powerhe became less tolerant and more violent. I think you make some good and valid points. To me the real question is how we can get away from the notion of violent retribution, no matter where. The problem is not just misplaced violence, it's violence period. It is worse that an mistaken person dies, but if an innocent "group-associated" person dies that is not group-misplaced, it's still bad.
Your points about education, oppression etc are good ones, as are the points about political exploitation. So how to get to a better place?
