  • awesome sound! i'm thinking of buying this pickups for a carvin dc727 (mahogany body and flamed maple top), would you recommend it? (sorry for my english, i'm learning)

  • @TuGinecologo

they're pretty decent sounding pickups and would fit way better in a mahagony-body compared to my basswood board. So yeah don't be afraid to try them and see if they really fit your personal taste!

  • i had the way you bend. its terrible

  • @snowmankapow Your spelling is terrible. Durrrrrr

  • It's well played as far as fret accuracy, but I can barely stand to listen to it for a few reasons. Firstly, there is absolutely no reason to vibrato EVERY note that is an eight or longer. Then in the part where he starts saying "hear temptation" has vibratos and you don't play them. Secondly, that tone is terrible. Try using bridge pickups only and turning the bass down and treble up. Lastly, pick harder. Your notes have no life.

  • GREAT!

  • Hey man, I was wondering how you like that Carvin V3. Is it good for like... real tight metal tones? Can you get something close to like an ENGL-esque tone out of it?

Also out of curiosity, how tall are you? That guitar looks huge on you.

  • @hatecore64 Never played the 1527 so can''t compare them.

But I'm defly confident about the guitar. Feel and plays well and sounds good to me.

The quality is nothing special but still solid. If i were you i'd probably get the RG1527, block the trem and swap the PU's. Thats a great thing for sure ;-)

Be sure to give both a test ride to check if it suits you well.

  • Hey! Great cover! btw what do you think about the rg7321? I´m thinking about buying it for my first seven string. But i´m not sure yet, everybody says that the low b-string is very muddy and... dry sounding? Is that true? :D

  • @RlKK3 I'm confident about the guitar.

I shot a used one on evilbay and for a medium-low-budget guitar it defly kicks ass.

No special issues with the low b-string in my case.

I swapped the pickups for personal taste though. (needed moar gain! ;)

  • @LaBre4 haha yeah! Maybe i then pick up this guitar for 360€ used with some seymour duncan pickups with it ;)

  • hey LaBre4. I talked to you a long while back about the carvin V3. i ended up buying it (and selling it shortly after :P) but since then ive been putting up a few of my own covers. You should come take a look and tell me what you think!

  • Sick tone man

  • nice man. the only thing i have to say is when you bend the notes, dont go up and then down. bulb just bends up, he never goes up and then down a few times.

  • I don't know why people think this is too scooped. I commend you for getting such a good tone out of the V3. Great cover as well man. What was the amp EQ'd to if you remember?

  • @SwallowedByTheTide

It was something similar to the "modern heavy" on the carvin pdf wich i'm not allowed to post here as a link :D (pm)

but i think the speakers are essential für that kind of tone (GT75)

  • sick cover man

i just ordered my v3. Very excited.

  • MESHUGGA!!!!!!

  • Great job!! Love the sound on your guitar, and you added the solo which I couldn't learn (I'm a n00b).

Constructive criticism: I think there's a note missing each time you play the section which starts (first time around) at 1:04. It's hard to describe it, but watch Cataclysmichael or Bulb's version of that section really closely, and you'll see there's a part where they slide their pinkies to squeeze in an extra note at the end of that pattern.

    Good cover, though!

  • hello jerry cantrell where is the g&l?

  • @therooster6505

haha :D they suspended my modell and i wanted to experience something something different y'know ;)

  • Wow. The v3 handled that well. I bet my 8 string would be balsy as hell through one

  • Amazing sound men!!!!

  • I read someone's comment and they mentioned your tone being a little scooped, I wanted to say your tone sounded pretty active, basically the same thing. Your pickups sounded like EMG's which seeing as they're not solid black I don't think they are lol. Needs a bit of bass---imo---but other than that, nice cover.

  • @WEISsGEBeter

I think someone told me there's too much bass in there.. i don't know exactly.

Actually those are meant to be passive EMG's made by Dimarzio called D-Activator 7. I think the "scoop"-sound is a matter of the amp-box-combination (and setting of course). Used GT75 speakers in that one - know using 2x V30's.

    Total difference.

  • @LaBre4 Yeah, you're bound to hear a lot of different things; but whoever told you there was too much bass was out their mind. Yeah, i can see the magnets on the pickups---the tiny round dot magnets---so i knew they were passive. I think you're correct when you said it was probably your settings and the amp-box combination. I guess there was too much treble, not enough mids.

I'm looking for that treble without having to go active so, i'll have to switch to D-Activators.

  • @WEISsGEBeter your tone is fine. it sounds like you balanced it well. as far as the amp goes, do you think it has enough gain for those saturated chugs and clear, defined that hear in a lot of metal? I like the sound of the vid, but I'm not sure how accurate it is (youtube = poop). I'm thinking about buying the 50 watt mini once it comes out

  • @flankerchris7 There's defly enough gain there, but I highly recommend to make well-conceived use of it according to your "chugging-style". I don't know whats meant by "a lot of metal" but the amp is extremely flexible and should suit any style you want to play.

Don't know anything about the new 50 watt mini. Give it a shot once it's there!

  • @LaBre4 Thanks, that answered my question. By "chugs" I meant the open note rhythms that are popular in a lot of shitty core today. However, I do like that level of distortion and saturation, which explains the comparison.

  • to the guy with the hate for Spider 3 amps...they aren't bad amps....just depends who is playing them...if Thordendal played a spider 3 I bet every sob out there would want a spider 3...some people don't have the cash to buy 1500 dollar amps(ENGL,MesaDual Rectifiers)... and Line 6 does the job when it comes to low costs...it's also the people just using the presets on the amp too...I make my own

  • Nice Shirt!!!!!!!!!

  • Cool cover. My criticisms (constructive, I hope) would be that your tone is a little too scooped for my liking (but who am I to say, really?)

Also, the little vibrato things you are doing in the main riff instead of just doing a bend sound funny to me.

Just one little bear's opinion. :-D

  • @00Ibanezist00

    Thanks a lot dude.

I'm still working on tones and technics, but the bend-story has now been said a dozen times, so i better add some notes in the descriotion mentioning that this is the bendless version of icarus lives ;D

thanks for the criticism though ^^

  • Hey man. I just drove down to Tecumseh to pick up a v3. Can't wait to try it out. Any suggestions for tone?

  • @crazytim1000 Never stop trying to improve it. There is no secret pattern to get the killer-tone.

  • NICE COVER BRO!!

  • haha some one like periphery

  • Comment removed

  • Finally a good player on youtube with a rg7321!!

I'm sick of hearing the same Spider III amp over and over.

  • Bro, your bends need to drag out a bit, sweet cover.

  • Would you recommend the carvin? I have the same guitar as you, and i find that when i play in drop A, my line 6 cant process the lower notes well.

  • @crazytim1000

    it's a good amp imo

i don't know which of the line 6 series you own, but they should handle low tuning just fine

  • @crazytim1000 get a line 6 vetta hd or something like that, meshuggah uses line 6 heads and cabs so lower notes shouldnt be a problem haha

  • i like your cover. i like your shirt. haha

  • FUCK, how are you getting such a sick tone out of the Carvin? I have one and I'm having some trouble dialing it in.

  • @s1uff1sc001 Try different Cabs. There I'm using a Marshall Cab with GT75 speakers. (And then I used the "preset" recommended by carvin "Modern Heavy", poested the EQ-patch somewhere below).

    Just keep tweaking.

  • Loved the cover dude. Could you cover all new materials by periphery? I'd love to hear the clean tone of the d activator 7 pups, and do you like the d act neck pup?

  • @zilchdk thanks a lot

i'm working on it (but with an acoustic guitar xD)

i'm using some bridge/split options in my video cover of Devin Townsend's "Gato"

it sounds weird in a basswoodbody, but the neck humbucker really sounds awesome either pure clean or as an high gain lead sound

i highly recommend the neck pickup

  • @LaBre4 No probs dude. I just loved this cover from the beginning. That low G# if I'm right sounds tight and not muddy at all. Everything is clear. Do you think the Air Norton 7 would pair up well with the d act bridge?

  • @zilchdk Thanks again.

I never used the Air Norton 7 though but i think there would be strong differene between the sound of neck and bridge PU then.

The D-Activator 7 bridge is very powerfull ans sounds gainy itself. The neck-version somehow fits this amount of gain with added warmth.

I think the Air Norton would be much quiter and it would add alot of mids compared to the D-A7-N. It's a matter of taste then.

  • @LaBre4 Thanks a bunch dude. I'll prolly settle for the d act 7 pair. I've anyways wanted the bridge pup. Please do a review of the pups if you can find the time.

  • tuning?

  • @poiuytrewq95

drop Ab (= all strings halfstep down + lowest string another wholestep down)

  • wow, the guitar sounds sick with the Dimarzio pickups

  • SICK SHIRT. is that an ibanez 7321? i just picked one up and fucking love it. meshuggah= swedish math metal gods.

great cover by the way. check out they're original version with jake veredika. way better vocals and crunchy guitar tone.

  • @crazytim1000 Thanks buddy!

    I'm right there with you!

Yep it is an ibanez 7321. Love it especially with swapped pickups.

I know that version already and it's awesome!

  • dude excellent tone out of that v3

  • Nice man!!!

  • Do you remember your EQ settings? That's some sick tone. I can't get my V3 to sound just right. I'm guessing you boosted the mids and bass, and cut back on treble? That's what it sounds like.

  • @gibsonfan3 I can't quite remember, but if I'm not totally worng I used the suggested EQ-set "modern high gain" or something like that (which could be found among the manuals)

This sounded great with the cab loaded with GT75 speakers. With V30 it sounded totally different.. more "scratcy"

  • @LaBre4 Ah, ok. Many thanks.

  • Favorited. Meshuggah shirt ftw too.

    DJENT IT UP

  • you totally kill the 6th string bends. this is periphery not guns and roses

  • yeah i've been told that before, thanks though ^^

  • @LaBre4 yeah sorry that comment seemed really rude now i re-read it! sorry haha. they just need to be exaggerated more and not make such a vibrato (if thats the right word) sound

  • @ZezimaStorm haha, no problem mate

yes, that's true! as s.o. said below "BENNNND THOSE SUCKERS" ;D

can't believe i didn't notice it emediately xD

  • @LaBre4 haha ;D good cover either way though dude

  • @ZezimaStorm haha xD thanks bro ^^

  • haha I could instantly tell you had some aftermarket pickups in there from the first note

  • haha you HAD to play in front of your vast guitarsenal hey?

    sick playing though man!

    cheers from canada

  • yeah i had to! there was no better place in my room to place the amp or the camera ;D

thanks! and cheers back from germany

  • how is the carvin v3? i've never gotten to play through a carvin head all the local places have mesas, marshalls, peaveys, etc but i'd like some input on these because they're a really good price

  • i bought it because of it's versatility. Clean sounds amazing(from fender clean to a warm jazzblues tone) and even chunky crunch sounds are there .. and of course enough power ;-)

i got it for a hyperspecial price and didn't regret it thus far, but thats just my experience and my confidence with the tone; i could immagine different opinions; after i read some reviews i bought it without having the possibility to test it. i would say... give it a try! =D

  • @LaBre4 I also bought it, because i read it had a high output, without testing it. and i definetely dont regret it. my two ibanez prestige have them and they sound even more amazing.

  • tuning??

  • drop Ab (all strings halfstep down + low B-string wholestef down)

  • what effect are you using? or just using effects on amp?

  • did't use any; guitar is plugged directly into the amp

  • sick tone ....

need to tweak my rig to sound like that lol

  • thanks!

after watching a couple of your current videos.. i'm not sure you have to :D

but how would be live if we would stop tweaking our stuff lol

  • This is awesome! Missed a few notes, but still 5/5!

  • thanks bro :)

  • DAVE MUSTINE JR

  • @chiflin2587

    ahahaha :D

i wish i could play like him

  • Hey someone who actually knows how to dial in a Carvin V3!

    Congratulations!

  • @MightyPwned

It's actually the GT75 speaker that is very "forgiving"

With my current Box with 2 V30's it is harder to get a solid sound out of it ^^

  • XCOOL SHRED LaBRE4

  • @HEWESREDFISHER16

    thanks a lot buddy :D

  • how much were the pickups?

  • @bennersix66

    a paid 140e for both ; extra deal ;-)

  • Djentastic!

  • Djent! That's all about. Thanks Bro

  • super djenty bro! but those notes are BENDS! you gotta BEEEENNNNDDDDDD and pull those suckers out, but others, baddass
