I think you just don't get it, this game is very good in my opinion.
Like this video, you can press A or B to kickoff when the guy moving. and about dodge, you can move left or right when opponents smash to you, it depends.
Besides, these are tons of video out there, you can watch someone else play it, you gonna love it.

I hate this game more than any game ever made except E.T. for the Atari. I have the damned cartridge. It sucks very much!
