All i know is that if he's got you, scruff him. Theres a loose flap of skin on the backs of the necks of ferrets, dogs, and cats. It what they're mothers use to pick them up. If you grab hold of it, they'll yawn.
Thank you so much for your advice :) but unfortunatly that dosen't work for Spaykee :( I want to hold him and normal stroke but I'm scared of bite :( but i thank you one more time :) and I hope that Spaykee will love so much like I love him and he will trust me and he will not bite me again.. @TheBoofdog They make great pets, and the hunting instinct is almost entirely bred out of them at this point. Ferrets you can buy as pets are descendants of the European polecat and have been domesticated for hundreds and hundreds of years. If you faced most pet ferrets with an animal it could theoretically kill and eat it would be more likely to run from it or try to play with it than hunt it. :)

@TheBoofdog Ferrets are great pets. Its hunting instinct wouldn't kick in on a human; a ferret would never try hunting something so huge compared to itself. The only reason they still have it is because they were first tamed to hunt rabbits, and brought to the Americas for mouse control. They're better mousers than cats thanks to their build; they can follow mice into holes cats can't. They're sneaky, playful, curious animals, but aggression doesn't define them. Just keep 'em away from hamsters.

No not really, they love to play fight and don't bite hard - they only put their teeth on you and gently nip, look for vids of them playing together, jumping around and dooking means they are just playing. If they wanted to bite you properly it would really hurt and they will easily draw blood but I've never had a ferret bite me like this and I've only ever heard stories.
Scratching shouldn't be a problem because you should trim their nails or walk them to keep them short.
@ilovedamusic1000 Ferrets can escape from their cages, but as they get bigger, it gets harder (depending on the cage). Mine actually got out when he was about 9 wks. old and walked right up to me when I walked back in my room, lol!! They aren't hard to find, but if you are concerned about it, make sure they are in a room that is Ferret-proofed when you are away so that IF they escape, they will be out of as much harm's way as possible. Highly reccommend the book Ferrets for Dummies. Good Luck!

Aww your ferrets are so cute and funny. This vid made me laugh and cry - my ferret, who looked just like yours and was also called Ruby, died yesterday and I'm heartbroken. She used to run around dooking and playing like a mad little thing just like this.
i love that sound and miss it in our house(had to put our last ferret down christmas a couple years back). has anyone else noticed that when they put ferrets into tv and movies they add in noises? the ferrets in tv and movies are always constantly making squeaking noises and i have never heard a ferret that makes sounds all the time

@emrahh13 well, she may jump at you like the ferret did in this video, but it isn't aggressive, ferrets are very hyper, and that noise is the noise they make when they are excited and want to play. they don't make those noises when scared or angry. when they make that noise it's a very good thing! she wants you to play with her!
@TheYugiohmaster247 Ferrets are most definitely NOT an impulse buy!! You should pick up a copy of Ferrets For Dummies (you can get it at any pet store, or book store) and read it front to back. :) It's a great book.
@LadySutefu lol. I remember when i got my ferret. At first I was going to the pet shop just to get a guinea pig, then I ended up getting a guinea pig and two ferrets. I guess for me they were an impulse buy lol.
hardly any pet is an impulse buy. They all have their needs. Fish have their diets, cleaning, water temperatures and care. Rodents are different and may need different things or have different personality quircks. I dont know anything about rabbits. Lizards Need a definite good reading on and ferrets do too.

@crazylyds1 The "why" of it wouldn't matter. They learn that biting wires = mouth burning, and that's good enough for most animals. Likewise, the word "no" in and of itself has no meaning until an animal has been taught to associate the sound with "something I shouldn't be doing," which can require patience on the part of the owner.
I had an albino ferret too. Named Mr. Pooterwinkles. He was very talkitive. Always grunting and dukking.

To teach a ferret, just immobilize him. I hold her feet to her body and gently press my index finger to her throat. It calms them down.

@TheYugiohmaster247 Ferrets are most definitely NOT an impulse buy!! You should pick up a copy of Ferrets For Dummies (you can get it at any pet store, or book store) and read it front to back. :) It's a great book.

@LadySutefu lol. I remember when i got my ferret. At first I was going to the pet shop just to get a guinea pig, then I ended up getting a guinea pig and two ferrets. I guess for me they were an impulse buy lol.

hardly any pet is an impulse buy. They all have their needs. Fish have their diets, cleaning, water temperatures and care. Rodents are different and may need different things or have different personality quircks. I dont know anything about rabbits. Lizards Need a definite good reading on and ferrets do too.

@TheYugiohmaster247 Ferrets can bite and its in their nature to bite as that is how they play but you need to teach youre ferret on how hard they can bite i got both of my ferrets trained to completly not bite.. and i agree with ladysutefu as to a ferret isnt a impulse buy get informed first.

@XKAMlX My ferret learned not to bite. It was funny because she still opened her mouth and rushed at me to nip but she kept her mouth all the way open and never bit down.

aw, I love vocal ferrets! My little white one is so quiet, sometimes she makes a little noise when I seperate her from the cat food lol

@Cerrimalcorn I hope you feed it the high quality stuff the cheap stuff can hurt them bc it doesn't have enuf protein or fat and to much fiber for ferrets to digest properly

@123animallover123 both of mine used to but i trained them not to by putting a very thin layer of hot sauce on it since all my wires are covered and i knew it wouldn't short anything out they can't stand the taste of hot sauce sends them running to their water and food bowl so they learned to associate cords with OW MY MOUTH IS ON FIRE HERE!!!They haven't bit a cord since

@crazylyds1 The "why" of it wouldn't matter. They learn that biting wires = mouth burning, and that's good enough for most animals. Likewise, the word "no" in and of itself has no meaning until an animal has been taught to associate the sound with "something I shouldn't be doing," which can require patience on the part of the owner.
