No wonder it wasn't picked up, it's not very good while the old series was excellent and it should have had a second series. It's also terribly politically correct here, with a female professor, I suppose the idea is that two male time travelers traveling together is ahem 'suspicious'.

perhaps it would have been a greater succsess if they had not changed the look of the time tunnel itself, cause it was the star in that old show. Modify yes but not that much like in that new show, and the actors are to "tough" and act in a "cold" way.The actors in the old show had more character !

It certainly was the drawcard for the original tv show, where the focus

Don't know about this variation on the original, but I WILL say that the people involved in this JUST HAD to ALSO be involved in the British sci-fi series "Primevil." They're just too similar.

Thanks for posting this. I can see why it didn't get picked up. Compared to the 1966 version, this update seems less "big" and colorful. Plus the historical event chosen doesn't grab the imagination nearly as much as the sinking of the Titanic did.

Hey, I do think this is better than the original but that's a pretty low bar, it wasn't exactly "Maverick," Robert Colbert's first series. I wish every episode would feature another jarring change when the time travelers return, though, like that episode of "The Simpsons" where Homer's family all have long lizard tongues they stick out to take their food.

You have to build the same exact sets to scale and the same music and sounds of the 60's. Any thing else would fall way short.Need the famous chime noise when the transfers take place.The problem with the original was the predictability.The remake was hurried and misses the mark .

This was CLEARLY a rip off from "Sliders" especially the "red light"! Plus making Tony a female scientist now, talk about no originality or creativity!!! That is the trouble with Hollywood they have no new thinking just re-hashing old movies or old series and putting their spin on them! Well, at least they got the config of the tunnel right this time. It's somewhat of a Mobius Coil design. There's a decent shot at pulling a torsion field with this one. You need that to bend gravity and via that, time. I particularly like the Dan Burich look-alike as the man in charge. I found that humorous. Almost as snarky as well.

Opps, in this part, somebody on the production staff should have changed the motorcycle cop lights to blue on one side and green on the other, or both green. After all, in this reality, the meanings are opposite, aren't they? It would have really enhanced the whole ambiance.

Now that I've seen all 5 parts, I have to say that this seemed pretty promising. Ironic that the suits at Fox rejected this for Firefly and then promptly shot themselves in the foot managing that series. Just par for the course for Fox. I fondly remember the original series and have the DVDs, and this should have been given a chance. Really enjoyed this. Thanks for finding and posting.

An excellent concept. The original Time Tunnel was doing good,and like 'The Invaders' it was cut. Time travel is not so far out as it may seem. We are being given subtle hints from our Hollywood mind control folks. This first would-be episode was not bad.

Thank goodness they didn't do the lame Irwin Allen bit. Practically every one of his series stranded its main characters somewhere — Lost in Space: stranded. Time Tunnel: stranded. Land of the Giants: stranded. It was all like Gilligan's Island. I got sick of that schtick, even as a kid. You knew their dilemma would never be resolved, because they didn't resolve TV shows back then. They just cancelled 'em.

At least this pilot episode had characters who could go HOME!

The reason it never made it to air was because of how much it was going to cost to make each episode. They threw a lot of money at the pilot and it wasnt viable. They spent the money on firefly instead which they cancelled anyway after one season

I also grew with Irwin Allen´s Time Tunnel but I think this version was much better.

The overall premise (an accident that changes the whole human history instead of just throw a couple of guys thru time) is much more interesting. And the sub plot about Douglas losing his family and the life he knows if he does his job right was very promising.

Too sad this series wasn´t aired.

Irwin wouldn't have wasted so much time getting to it.

One thing about IA, his movies and shows were always efficient and moved along quickly. This is 7 minutes in and we're doing nothing but unnecessary backstory.

Compared to the pilot of the real TT this is a yawnfest..
