@peshozmiata I havent played around with the 555 and speaker much, Im making a digital clock right now for medicine reminders, lol exciting stuff huh? as far as volume im sure if i fed that thru an npn with the 555 pin 3 output to the base and a potentiometer controlling a 9VDC supply I could get it a lot louder, I'll have to try. Again, that was only the 555 driving that speaker which isnt very much so your idea of amplification is a good one ! thanks. Jim
can anyone explain to me how I figure out the voltage and amperage that will be sent OUT from a charged capacitor? or does it depend on the voltage/amperage it is charged with? I dont understand the whole farad/volt labels on the capacitors.
im just trying to use a solar 1.5 volt panel to charge a capacitor, then use that charge (when there is no sunlight, with a photo-resistor) to power say, a wrist watch. thanks!

A capacitor is marked with both the max value for volts and it gives a farad rating. (1) farad is huge! so we use nf (nano farad) mf (micro farad) those are most common. Charge a battery instead with the solar charger, it will last longe..... Jim
@devil614 the capacitor will drain too fast, caps are for power factor balance and regulating a power supply so its cleaner. your better off to trickle charge a batterie that takes over when a photo cell closes circuit
lol, iasked my son who's 19 what a nyquest effect was..... i dunno, actually i didnt even hear that when we recorded it. i heard that after i saw the video, my mother in law said it sounded like the a.m radio backfeed from the 40's, i think i had just the right resistance and capacitance with the timer, and i forget what i did anyway but kept the video.... im looking for a used plc now...... so if ya know of any lemme know, take er ez
@fullofhate77 ... Dont know what that is, its a freaky radio sound I heard when I got that NE555 oscillating in the 20 thousand cycles per second, thats fast !
i got bored with the 555 timers and sold the amp but i wanna make some wig wags, thats what i call em, ya know the flashers on police cars, except i'll use white lights or brake lights because red white or blue in the front of a dashboard is illegal, so i gotta be careful, but i think red braking wig wagging is legal, im gonna check with my local PD
Hey, i can hear it when you leave it to the highest setting, but you have to increase the volume a bit.

Is that a Nyquest sort of effect we're hearing?

My next experiment is to pump it through a large 30 watt guitar amp I picked up cheap. My guess is I wont get passed 2 or 3 on the volume knob.
