If he shouldn't call it a 'speed run', what should he call it? Because it's still a speed run no matter what he uses. There's a ridiculous amount of 'speed runs' that include a wide variety of tactics. Don't like this one? Move on to the next one, and let him showcase his video. Turbo technically is not a cheat. Yes it makes it invalid in record books, but it's not a damn cheat. Invincibility or infinite weapon ammo is a cheat.
Wondering why you didn't attack metal man first. It's a given on megaman 2 that the first boss you take out is metal man. Not only is his stage easy, metal man isn't difficult to beat as well. And the power up you get from him saves you a lot of time clearing the other stages.
Because he's using controls built into the game he's not cheating. Besides it's not like he broke a world record. If he did, believe me, they'd specify the platform and controls used. So chill out and enjoy.
Turbo isn't cheating, at least not for speed runs (since theoretically, you CAN fire that fast manually. Optimal conditions etc). Cheating in this case would be something like, cheatcoding past stages, invulnerability, infinite items or such.
Besides, it's not like it was especially HARD to find turbo controllers back in the NES prime days either.
@guitarpro925 yo dumbass i have the game from the wii shop channel and i can fire that fast using the wiimote cuz i dont have a g-cube controller if u hate it that much dont watch or drop dead either way u make alot of ppl happy
@JacobDragyn I know how you feel. But I eventually got good enough to beat it without freezing time, dying, or cheating. So I guess I was one of the best, back when I cared. Then I got laid and everything changed. (Hopefully most of the people on this page can tell the same story or something similar. LMAO).
um it this the remake? you changed weapons without bringin up the menu. also if this is the remake then you have the ingame option of using turbo, turbo is NEEDED for a speed run of this game. so it really isnt cheating
No, using turbo is widely considered cheating. Before you call anyone's opinion "stupid", maybe you should read the other comments that agree with my "stupid" opinion.
Here, I'll just put an end to it. It's viewers discresion if turbo is cheating. I don't think it is because, as hughugh said, it was allowed on controlers made and distributed by Nintendo themselves.
@Bvon You're completely spot on with your supposedly stupid opinion. Megaman has always been a game of reflexes. Using a turbo controller completely eliminates one of those aspect.
@Bvon It's stupidly called cheating. It's made to stop kids parents from getting soar thumbs. The people who belong in the group that say that turbo is cheating say that Nintendo itself supports cheating, therefore the "Turbo Button is a cheat" group IS the stupid one. The dude isn't cheating, he's doing something clever.
@BecauselCan it's cheating because you are making the game do somthing the developers never intended through use of a third party device. (I get the feeling you support aim bots in online FPS games too don't you?) the point behind a speed run is to play the game vanilla, if he uses tools it invalidates his time.
@S0ryiu First off, please, get a life, stop going around videos replying to 9+ month old comments. Second off, I'm a proud part of Call of Duty players that never have used cheats and never will. Third off, the point of a speed run is to beat the game with the best time you can achieve.. Fourth point. How is something Nintendo made a third party device on the Nintendo console?
Fifth. Oh, enlighten me to that interview where Keiji said that he does not support the Turbo controller. Sixth and finally, please tell how to compare faster shooting of blips is the same as god mode, aimbot, unlimited power and health.
@BecauselCan It's the same in that it defeats the point of a speed run (to show off your skill) when it's not your skill, it's the controller that is doing most of the work.
@BecauselCan then he should not label it "speed run" since a speed run is a showcase of one's skill measured by the time it takes them to complete the video.
thoose laser beams at quickmans stage,, they arent realy that hard to avoid.. i have never died there once XD or the first time i ever playd megaman 2, ofc i died there...
Yeah the guy is using a turbo controller. Very weak. But what do you expect from people trying to be the best? Steroids to turbo controllers. It's all the same.. FN cheaters
Man I remember playing this game in my younger days. I always beat Metal Man cause he was easy in his fighting pattern and then after that, I go to Flash Man and beat him in like two seconds. Awesome stuff...I hated Quick Man...jerk face...
Speed running any game is difficult, no matter the game. The time spent in planning routes, the way you want to beat a boss...you definitely need to think like a programmer and be ready for enemies before they even appear.
Memorization of the levels, how much damage you can take to save time...everything.
I would go as far to say that anyone who is not able to see the patience required (and would rather blast someone for cheating), should try a speed run out.
I wish everyone would shut up about everything that isn't the very basic things you could use when the console first came out.
Guess what assholes. Using glitches (WHICH ARE IN THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE), turbo (WHICH DOESN'T REQUIRE AN EMULATOR), or an emulator doesn't mean it takes less thought to put together.
The fastest time is about 24:33. A lot of people think it's cheating because it uses glitches. They fail to see the 100k+ rerecords, and the thought it takes to get that far. Idiots
@AsterisKSC glithces in a game are glitches for a reason, it was a mistake in the game that the developers tried to get rid of before final release which means its not cheating its a manipulation of the game which in my opinion is just as bad. its like super bouncing in halo 2 to reach high spots to snipe or glitching through walls in gears of war 2 during guardian mode, yes its part of the game but its a very cheap tactic that the developers didn't foresee
i was somewhat pissed at a turbo controller at first, but not tool assisted was a big plus for me. tool assisted speed runs are pointless and not valid whatsoever.
Sure, the Turbo Controller made his life a lot easier, and sure, he did them in a really weird fuck order, and sure, it was probably done on a computer emulator, but at least he did it fast
I dont understand why speed runners dont just take some time to master Quick Man to take him on as the first boss. I'm not saying your run was bad or anything. Yea, Flash Man is easy, but the run would be much faster if Quick Man is taken out first. That boomerang is the shit against little enemies
Lmao. It doesn't matter if YOU say he sucks. I doubt you could do any better. So maybe you should post yourself doing this game rather then saying: "You suck."
Did you know the cheat on Mega Man 1 ? when You get Electric mans weapon. Shoot any enemy & pause the game. Wait for the flashing to stop & un pause & quickly re pause. keep doing this until your enemy is dead. Works every time ! Cheers !

megabuster>flashman
flashman>metalman (ok well its smart!)
metalman>woodman
woodman>airman (the leaf shield doesnt deflect tornadoes, but goes THRU them)
airman>?(not that far)
