I grew up in a small little town called yeehaw junction right up the road from okeechobee I went to high school in okeechobee. I used to love going to the flea market and buying stuff off of the seminole indian ladies. On the weekends me and some friends us to go to the lake and hang out. All a big part of my life. Ive since moved away to virginia but there are somedays it calls me home. Great Video!!!!
Love this song love the voice love the video but more so Love the everglades visit every year stay in the chiki eat in the swamp I take my book and my camera it's a beautiful place to be alone and just get in touch with yourself
as a uk citizen we all love florida but not aware of floridas history. after visiting last year i decided to research some history. i realised why we have osceola county police force . i wasn't even aware of any inhabitants before the area was commercialised. i suppose it is like most of america. next time i visit i will try to take in some culture...
Very moving, I love this song and use to walk to one of the battlefields of the Seminole, the few years I spent living in Florida some of my friends were half Native American and myself about 1/4. Florida felt more like home to me than here where I was born, I still get homesick thinking about it and have wonderful memories of places that were protected from development. Florida in its natural state is a beutiful place. I believe your cover of this song is the best I have heard. Thank You
I was in Fla. for a couple of months in the 70's, I caught 2 gar hook through their eye My uncle said they dont bite but, they are curious and look closely to bait, hook whatever but,if not for that I would not know exactly, what a gar was. Most people dont.I learned that in the land of the seminole. Those were the only 2 fish I caught.
I spent 20 minutes writing you a long letter and when I went to send it would not go through as you have freind lock on your page. send me a friend invite and I will accept. Thanks
Nice singing Ron!! But FYI... at the end of the chorus the word is "GAR" not "GULL". GAR is a fish that lives in the cypress swamps and gator holes. I have never seen the correct Karaoke lyrics, but now you know. And besides the lyrics 'AND I KNOW WHO YOU ARE' rhymes quite well with 'ALLIGATORS AND THE GAR'. lol! Keep up the great singing!!! 5 stars!!
Thank you, I did not know that as it's hard to understand John Anderson's song and I played it over and over again and it sounded like Gull, not Gar but it makes sense that it's Gar. Oh Well it's too late now. Thank you for your comment though.
Superb job on this one! Hits close to home, being part native, The video was great, I was in that part of Florida in the late 70's. It's a awesome area. Gave yh a 10! wish it was higher!
Hi Ron, Now you really outdid yourself on this song, That was fantastic. This is my favorite song by John Anderson. Another standing ovation on this one. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing. 5*****
I'm laughing right now...because I've been trying to remember the name of this song and wanted to hear it again...and well here it is...thankyou very much ...seems it might have been providence.....love and peace my friend...God Bless....Sandi
Damn, man! Out of respect for John Anderson and being a huge fan of his, I don't want to go as far as to say that it's better, but WOW! Absolutely fantastic with the sound of that voice! I believe John Anderson would even tip his hat to that performance.
seminole people, bless them, were displaced and pushed to florida as a result of european take over..tequesta people and calusa people lived in florida east and west..it seems few people(of all colors classes races) in florida are aware of this fact..a people without knowledge of their history is like a tree without roots..
I have a horse named Seminole when i first knew of a song dealing with the Seminole tribe my mom said playfully there was a song about Seminole sence then i was curious to hear it so now i found it and i love it my favorite people are the Indians i dress Seminole like a indian pony but now i can't because the dogs tore up her feather hair peice.
and Jon Anderson's song brought many of us to tears. Native Floridian Too. I'm not a tree-hugging liberal but we must protect our everglades, coral reef, beaches and be care takers of the land like the Native Amer. were.
i just hate how there making so many damn golf courses id rather hear airboats go by my house all day then get rid of the wildlife so oldies can play with little balls in a hole
Beautiful video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This country is getting rid of all of our natural resources thanks to the developers who want the mighty dollar. One cannot replace the Cypress trees and natural habitat that God put on this Earth. This is the first generation that will go out leaving this country in worse shape than when they came into it. So sad.
