I mean people still rob liquor stores, but the violence associated with drugs is related primarily to the black market, I don't think that is in contention, anyone knowledgeable about it will tell you that. In the US, we outlawed alcohol in the 20's and crime skyrocket, because the black market for booze was so lucrative.
