  • Hey, i bought the vinyl of wasting light a couple of days ago and wondered why it was at 45 rpm instead of 33 rpm?

  • @kerridge5 It means they spared no expense in putting this to vinyl. As is often the case with newer releases, the total play time of the album is a bit longer because CD's allow for it. However, this means that when putting that same amount of music on vinyl you're faced with the choice of closer grooves, which can mean more noise, or a double LP as is the case with this record. But because it's only a single CD worth of music it's sped up to 45 rpm to fill two 12" records.
