i think this internet ad was so brilliant. I mean look at everyone here commenting on it, debating whether it's real or not. the marketers of mini did a great job i guess. The point was to make everyone talk, and it sure succeeded. of course it's just an ad by mini. It came out in 2004/2005, somewhere in that time.

this kind of video can be made with 3d modeling softwares used in movie industry. it's hoax, but it is well done.

i remember when these videos were first released. there was an excerpt of a fake book in a rolling stone magazine. i thought it was real. it was about a guy researching these strange robot sightings in england. supposedly an engineer from mini cooper made a robot out of mini coopers by purposefully over engineering the cars. i thought it was real and told everyone about it. the videos were small and of low quality on a strange website made by the engineer. greatest marketing campaign ever.

in either case though, the company responsible for this came forward and admitted it was a viral campaign (the same people responsible for the Subservient Chicken site)

hmm. i still can't see it... i tried looking at the robot and shadow to trace where the light was coming from... the guy walks up to be almost right inbetween the robots legs... he should have had a shadow there methinks... but i could be viewing it incorrectly.
