Good game & commentary! English opening & monster bishop plus time to think about the game and the best moves with correspondence chess makes a big difference!
very nice video and good explanation. Just wondering , i probably missed something but how come at 8:13 you didn't play bishop d5 and pin the queen? if he blocked with the bishop then you could take with the rook. Thanks
I enjoyed your video very much. Very instructive. I hope you do some more. Could you tell me the ratings for Fat & Mad and Nekthen. I would appreciate it very much.
WIHUU!! "monster bishop" yeah! i'm a chess amateur and rather should be learning for my exam tomorrow but your videos just pin me to my chair. seriously, i feel like a pinned knight! its both thrilling and scaring :D
Thank you all for your kind comments - they are very encouraging!
I will post more as soon as I can, my 8 week old son allowing... I'll post videos in the letsplaychess format here on kingscrusher's channel and others, more individual ones on my own. Until then remember: "Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy" (Tarrasch).
this is absolutely brilliant, you explain each move so beautifully. I liked your explanation of whites moves to strengthen the position, waiting for black to blunder. I have a tendency to rush attacks, i'll be bearing this in mind! more please :)
Loved the way you explained your thought process for each move and how you explained how you developed a game plan that suits your position, both opening up the position but restricting counterplay.
Nice video. I think retreating the dark bishop back to b2 instead of letting him swap was a key move. I usually find having both bishops at your disposal very powerful, especially against dutch defense
Really nice Video.
I m sure there will be a lot more coming
good luck

i think english opening is weak opening for white :|
croopaN 2 years ago
Any justification for that claim?
philnoll 2 years ago
@croopaN - English Opening weak? Chess World Champions Gary Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, Bobby Fischer, etc., don't agree. :)

at 5:05 when he play b6 did c6 was more stronger due thaqt block the bishop from coming on the big diaginal?

This is very instructive. I've always wondered how to coordinate 2 fianchettoed bishops in an attack, and thanks to Fat and Mad, I understand.
macewindu210 2 years ago
black could have defended at the end by moving his king to H7 that would of given white a little trouble
zw0ecool 2 years ago
not really, because if Kh7, then white plays f6, with discovered check and wins the black knight
Henrique676 2 years ago
And if you are saying Kh7 after Ng8, then white can move the f pawn again and its really a lost position for black
Henrique676 2 years ago
really nice. I especially enjoyed the Rd6 finish-off, and the whole game actually taught me something about the value of patience in attack.

Great - Love the guest commentator!
The only thing I missed greatly was "Overview and Summary" - but it was made up for by the quite thorough and easily followed plans -
Also - "Guess What White Would Do" is always great.
Thanks a million --
