I watched the trailer after watching the movie and I feel like they should

Finally got it's DVD release in America this week, and I've finally gotten to watch it. I love Park Chan Wook and his revenge trilogy, and I even liked Thirst, and even though this is completely different from his other material, it is definitely worth watching.

Why can't Hollywood be clever and interesting, and not just pump out sequels and formulaic nonsense?

I appreciate the summer blockbusters for what they are- fun. But if I gotta suffer through one more romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston or even Mila Kunis or Natalie Portman, I swear I'll go on a killing spree....

Pretty much why I enjoy foreign cinema of all sorts. They're not afraid to get wacky and take chances.

Doesn't always work, but magic can happen that way.

Same trippiness that Tim Burton is famous for IE Johnny Depp and Edward Scissorhands, Alice In Wonderland etc... What about Amelie and Once Flew Over The Cukoos Nest? American cinema is still great. You just have to look past the garbage. As a matter of fact, Chan Wook Park went "holloywood" on this with the selection of Rain as the male lead.

@Dungarth Well, of course. American movies are pretty much going downhill. I love them dear, but let's be honest, many of the movies coming from Hollywood are packed full of cliches. The only real creativity you see is in the special effects.

But that's what you get when the audience doesn't raise the bar. They keep viewing these movies, and spending their money on them. Sad, really. :/

@TheRealBlackPuma when my friend from States was visiting me this summer we had few movie nights and after watching some Polish and Japanese movies she was amazed that real cinema still exist. She's now obssessed by European and Asian film and shows it to all her friends. most of them never watched foreign productions before and for them watching movie with subtitles is like rocket science.....just too much too handle:) I recommend: Snakes and Earrings, Frozen Flower, Lavender, Secret Love:)

@TheRealBlackPuma in defense of the satleness of hollywood these days: Studios are a little more reluctant these days to take a chance on anything less than a "SURE THING" and I believe it has a lot to do with how many people download movies. just go to any torrent site and look at the amount of seeders there are when a new movie is put on there. Neither side is right though. Theaters wont drop prices for admision and people arent going to stop downloading when its so easy.

@jazzerpup69 I guess you're right about that. It's just kinda sad the art aspect (of the movie as a whole) is slowly disappearing in Hollywood production. Though, some new movies are still very enjoyable, so it's definitely not a dead horse just yet.

I also think it would help both sides if they were to cut down on their budgets a bit. Some movies use a sickening amount of money for B- or even C movies. Creative (and cheaper) alternative solutions aren't super difficult to come up with..
