The monitor used here is an Apple IIe, which is a color composite monitor designed for the Apple II computer, but is NTSC standard so it can work with any composite source that is also NTSC standard.
@InternalVoice the thing is dead, all i get is a half lightned display screen on the VCR its self, no power to anything else. one of the boards as a little crack in it, i wonder if that could be the problem?
It is not a VCR, Video Cassette recorder came before VHS, it was a square looking tape cartridge. Anyone who has ever called a VHS (Video home system) player a VCR is wrong.
I found one of those, It always ate the tape and the tracking was shot. But I liked how it loaded tapes though. Back in the day it had to be awesome, Just like getting a BluRay now. I had to give it away because my parents thought it was crap and didn't want me touching the insides things that can be pluged in at that time. x(
Or, if the idler itself doesn't have cracks or flat spots, you can even attempt to resurface the idler tire by abrading the contact surface of the rubber with sandpaper.
This should be done only if you really need the thing to work now for short duration.
The idler and other old, worn rubber parts should still be replaced with fresh parts to ensure reliable operation in the long term.
I want it!

if its eating tapes then the idler wheel is gone. quite simple to fix. you can find a complete idler wheel and belt kit online for $15
