I don't know what's with all that bitchin' about that song. Actually, I find it quite amusing. Harsh voice of a man, who's tired with life fits this song really well.
@Wajlonis I agree with your comment about everyone bitching about this song, however, Waylon was not tired with life, he knew he was failing considerably with health, and music success, but even Jessi said, "He didn't give up, his body did."
@Wajlonis A beautiful "up-speed"-version of this song, and probably by Waylon´s effort to perform it at this time of his life - his voice was some sort of "fading away" along with his body - but he did not give up!
@Wajlonis Tired of life????? Absolutely not, that would make him a quitter. WAYLON was many things, but NOT a quitter. Pissed off at life perhaps, but NOT TIRED with life. He happened to love this songs and called it one of his favorites. He nailed it (as usual) and this is my absolute favorite version of the song.....You are the Man, Mr. Waylon Jennings.
I am in a state of confusion, either to like or dislike this version; It has been done better by Waylon, but he have also done it worse - it´s one of his classics, so I vote as + :-) Thank´s for sharing it with us acashfan1!
Carter Robertson, she is married to Barney (who plays the keyboards) they were longtime members of the Waylor's in the seventies, and then got back with Waylon in the late nineties.
It doesn't exist 1 single bad song by Waylon, hehe. As Waylon said: "I won't record a song that I'll not be able to sing at every concert for the rest of my life".
"Be Bad when he wanted to"? That's the most offensive thing I have EVER heard abou the wonderful Waylon Jennings. There is nothing bad about this version at all. My friend, if you have any idea of what he was going through...you wouldn't have a single thing to complain about. Waylon was quite ill when he did this concert, and he still got up on stage and gave the crowd a good show. That's more than anything these lowlifes today would do.
You must have the ability, heart and soul to appreciate a man's voice and expression of a song, as this one... if Sweet Sammie had never recorded it you would not have a comparison.... and what about Chris? It great fellow you just need to have the ear for good stuff !
another great kristofferson number.

@acashfan1 I see. What I meant was that his voice sounds as if he was a bit tired with everything around it, but the sound of it is amazing.
