Whats sad about society these days is all the focus on this one person. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays & Karl Malden all died within 2 weeks and yet nothing on the level of MJ memorials and tributes has been done for them.
They were not as famous and their impact was not as intense. Their fame is not really comparable. That's not to say their deaths were not just as sad to some people. Michael Jackson was just a very huge influence on music, art, and culture, much more than those famous people you named.

Im not a racist at all BUT I dont get y all of these African Americans r idolizing him as role model & life-changing man. He spent his life tryin 2 change his appearance 2 that of a white person!? I thought the memorial was very fitting for the man he was and will continue to be in our hearts. It's a shame that we lost sight of how truly great he was because of the bad publicity in his later years. But I am glad that his legacy will be a positive one.
