Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Secret Of Mana. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
Ho-ly Shit... I'm having serious flashbacks to my teenaged years listening to the opening... You know how a few bars of a certain song can cause you to have flashbacks to memories you my have otherwise never visited again? This song is triggering that, in a good way. This game was an epic conquest for me; over a year of waiting for some idiot to return it to the rental place, then playing it. Pure bliss. I can only imagine what this music would have been like if it stayed a CD-ROM game.
The most atmospheric song in the game (aside from the Pure Lands theme).
This is the one thing I don't get. Why is the awesomely uber-epically calming, and still very disturbing - because of giving so incredibly much the opposite feeling that the vicious and deadly beasts you meet while hearing this give you - Pure Land Theme not in your countdown?
You even mention it being more atmospheric than tolling bell in the video description.
PS: I also don't get Yearnings of the wind's bad score o.O
this is my favorite song in the game other then the crystal forest song. and by far my favorite part of the game. because of this music possibly!! haha im a dork xD
Hey guys, if you're into games and such check out my channel. I'm into making action rpgs and things of that nature and I'm holding a closed beta soon. I'd like some people who are interested to tell me what sort of games they like!
If you like things of that nature send me a comment or subscribe.
@papakrunk The amount of passion and inspiration and creativity poured into this game is amazing. 15 years later, and in many respects it has yet to be outdone.
Yes I not only love this game so much, but I actually have 2 copies of it for the SNES. This game is absolutely amazing and I have played through it at least 15 times.
Secret of Mana, in my opinion, is probably the best SNES game ever made. In any case, it certainly close to it. The SNES is seriously my favorite gaming system. I was VERY rarely disappointed with any game I played on it. I know that there are mountains of crap out there for it. But my foundest memories playing video games with friends, cousins and others have been from the SNES. That's why I bought a Wii, so I can play the goods again.
Yeah this game is great. I was rockin' this one in some woods earlier in the day. I was out takin some pictures for a video I was making. I did bring my PSP along so I had to take a break and beat the Gold City Tower at least.
Oh man, I pretty much agree. Secret of Mana is the goods for sure. I remember playing the mess out of it on my old snes way way back when the game was new. I even got a multitap just for this game!
Update: I BOUGHT A FREAKIN SNES THE DAY I WATCHED THIS PLAYLIST! I was like "I can't take it anymore! I need the memories to be real again!". I know I had the Virtual Console, but it just isn't the same as popping in those carts man. I got a heap of awesome games too, including Secret, FFIII, Chrono Trigger, Mario Kart, World and All Stars... a bunch of other greats as well.
I think there's more beauty to be had in the simple but brilliant sprite artwork and haunting synthesized melodies of the old SNES games than modern offerings...
WHy oh WHY has SE run this game franchise into the ground????
Even Seiken Densetsu III was a step down, they destroyed the combat by taking away the 100% recharge bar and just making it button mash/slash. If someone could make a game with this game's combat mechanics it'd be amazing.
lol I started playing SDIII, but had t stop doing it coz the gameplay was too annoying :-( Although I was really interested and had high hopes in the game...
@ongyerth There were two big problems - the lack of continuity (that weird thing they had were you didn't brandish your weapons until enemies appeared and then the screen kind of stuck there til you finished them), but more importantly they changed the attacking from the '100% --> rest' to 'slash slash slash at anything that moves'. Plus they took out the way cooler 8 different levels of power moves and spells. And each game after was progressively worse
@StewNWT i disagree. i have played both SoM and SD3 many many times and the combat is very similar. the 100% recharge bar is still there but it is not shown, the only difference is that you can not attack until you reach 100%, in SoM you would just have done 1-2 damage. the powering up for power attacks is different, but is holding a button for a minute while not doing anything really that precious for you?
This is one of the most beautifully written pieces of work ever in any video game. "Mystic Invasion" is my favorite of all time, but this one puts up fierce competition to it!
Decided to check out what the fuss was all about, and was glad i did. This definitely is one of my fav's from SoM as well. I may have to give tabbing this one out a try.

This was the first RPG I ever played as well as the first Square game.

The first screencap is the best. Not because the Girl and the Boy both have Swords somehow, but because Sprite just Falcon Punched a turtle.

The beginning is good, then it was just corny until the theme repeated.

just one question... how can randi (the guy) and purim (the girl) both have swords? o.O
Yviman 2 years ago
you can equip every weapon on everyone, but I suppose only the guy can wield the Mana Sword vs Mana Beast (never tried to equip Mana Sword on girl^^)
Vazruden 2 years ago
i know that, but on the first picture they both equip it at the same time

Yes, it's so sad that this may, imo, be the only real good Mana game. Lucky for the series, this one kicked enough ass to make up for the others. :)
