Major Earthquakes that are 7.0 or above are dramatically increasing. According to the U.S. Geological Survey there were only 41 major (7.0 or above) earthquakes from 1800 to 1900. Now counting from 1975 to present there has been over 516 major earthquakes. What is going on?? Planet Earth appears to be ripping apart at the seams with all these increased disasters. The hypocentral region of this eq reached 200km(east and west) and 500km(north and south). It's almost under the Pacific. Some are on the area along the Pacific, but there are no big cities there.

Magnitude is like Watt, seismic intensity scale is like Lux.It shows us how much the ground sways actually. Over 6 is feared to be able to collapse buildings. Of course it is related to eq-resistant construction or strength of ground.
At Hanshin, some cities including Kobe(1,500,000ppl) registered 7 in Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity scale. This time it was only one city(75,000ppl).

have a close look at the video. does this look like a 9.0 earthquake? remember kobe? The Great Hanshin earthquake, or Kobe earthquake, was an earthquake that occurred on Tuesday, January 17, 1995, at 05:46 and was measured at 6.8. Now look at this video youtube[dot]com/watch?v=emhqTqT_omE and compare the level of destruction. A 9.0 eq is supposed to be 100 times stronger than a 7.0 eq, but I can't see that at all on the videos, can you show me any fallen buildings? I haven't found any at all...

Magnitude isn't directly connected with damages. The closer an epicenter is, the bigger the damages become.
The Hanshin eq(M7,3) was just above its epicenter(16km deep). About 80% of victims were crushed to death.
This eq(M9,0) had its epicenter under the Pacific(24km deep). But the tsunami caused by huge magnitude was beyond our expectations. More than 90% of victims were drowned.
If the epicenter is just under Tokyo, around M7 eq can destroy its cities.
