voice of music has the control pot for the volume . Just wondering so . Mine has a crackling sound when Im turning the Knob . My tremble and volume are bad . The problem is the pods are double one's . did you have the same problem . I was told to use detox it , But I have cleaned them in thew past and it came back .
thats part of the problem with the gear . . the channel for the right just needs cleaning on the knobs , but if I was you I would replace the Knobs for the balance , and volume . thats the problem . You may need to recap the amp . Its very hard to get a service manual for this old consoles .
In middle school, my best friend's mother had a '69 Astro Sonic with the jammed changer. In those days they just swapped out the changer. I hope you can find someone who can patch the aluminum cam wheel; I think that was the part that tended to wear out. I wonder if the later Collero changers (they were made until 1993) had nylon cams.
the inspection card is dated 1977 and the wood grain finish on the panels of the console is a fake finish on mdo plywood just the frame and moldings is real wood finish. but the amp -controls are identical to Jasonvava's 1968 maggie but he has a more traditional magnavox cabinet
I hope to start working on this soon I finely got it into the house
This is a nice stereo. I am 23 years old and have had many stereo consoles so far. The one Magnavox I had was from the 1970s. Not sure if it was an Astro-Sonic though. I do have a 1963 Magnavox Astro-Sonic. But, the best system I ever had is my 1962 Magnavox Imperial.

@ducklandwikeno no just parts for the changers
the pots are hard to find if you can get them apart you can clean them and bend the wipers to get better contact

WOW! That was one of the top models at the time (actually it's a late 1960s unit) and it's a real beauty!
I am dumbfounded at the number of MX consoles that go to the curb.... but NOT in my area (grrrr!)

The turntable on mine doesn't work, and it's got a weird hum that starts about 10 minutes into using it.. but other than that, it works great!
The cool thing about these old stereos is that they have inputs, so you can hook other stuff up to them!
