Your better off using an Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) for this set up versus a 55 gallon drum. You could also set up a small electric motor with agitator on the top of the IBC.

Any organic material will work mixed with the manure.. Yard clippings, weeds from the garden, paper, newspaper, vegetable matter, plate scrapings in general. The organisms will eat all of that stuff and turn it into methane.

May I ask why you didn't release the trap air (oxygen) of the top white container? Wouldn't that make the content of the lower container spill while there's still oxygen in it making the bacteria work less efficient?

Methane is produced from household septic tanks right? Why not compress that gas into a tank. The septic tank is producing methane every day of the week. That way you don't have to build a "methane digester." Just have to run a tap pipe into the right area near the top of the septic tank, or use the top vent of the septic system and "pump" any ambient air out to create a partial vacuum first, then you will be getting mostly methane?

Have you tried to add organic waste after 2-3 weeks? And whats the temperature when you done that video? I have read this works only if theabient temperature is at least 30°C.

This is just a simple one for demonstration.The temp was in the 60 to 70 degrees. It works best when the weather is warmer.I'm in florida so we have a warm climate here. there are other plans on the net for a continuos feed made with a fifty gal drum. best regards Richie

thanks for this great instruction video instruction. So once digestion starts, how long can you deep tapping gas until it quits? Like how many pots of coffee can you make with one batch let's say?.

This will produce good for about 6 to 8 wks.

This setup is basic & would need to be expanded for a good flow & volume of gas.Not sure how many pots of coffee it will make.

Some good way of tapping energy. There are ghosts behind the split tree behind you. From frame 4.00 you can see a face that looks like the face of Che: with mostache. I'm Not really sure, I don't have this to an exact method but it works. The barrel is about35-4o gallons. I fill about halve way with manure and three small newspapers. Then fill with water,let sit.
