While PCooper said he was flattered, he didn't claim the video and thought the bad taste used was not a good thing.

If I lived within the city limits, I would vote for this guy in a heartbeat just based on this. (Well and the fact he is the only person running who isnt a joke, no pun intended to Mr.Traveling Shoes)

I posted this on a few local forums, so hopefully the word will get spread to people who can vote in the city elections.

Thanks guys for taking the one serious candidate and screwing with his reputation and credibility. People don't care that you're not affiliated per se, all they see is an opportunity to take something like this and use it against the man and damage his campaign if possible.

A shame that Patrick Cooper, the one decent candidate for mayor, has to come out and defend himself against such juvenile behavior and garbage

You could have done it without the vulgarity and insults. THINK, next time.

We're comedians. This video is a joke. I'm pretty sure we didn't kill Cooper's reputation or credibility.

Cooper's opponents are too lazy to figure out who made the video. They'd rather try to make something like this work for them than find out the truth. It's just bullshit politics and it never changes. The effect of this video will be negligible come Dec 8th.

I'm surprised Bell didn't claim Cooper shouldn't run for Mayor because he was a time traveler from WWII.

If I was him, personally, I would use this video. This is hilarious, and if the guy is willing to accept this kind of comedy, and still be a decent candidate, why the hell would people my age (22) NOT vote for him? He'd be the shit.

And that shows that you have no clue how to campaign for office. Point being, the video could have been done with a lot more class and credibility. Why the comments that refer to a candidate as needing to go back to where she came from, inference to the jungle, why the pervasive foul language? It is funny, but it could have been so much better and done with a lot more style, sans the personal attacks, bad language and posturing. Maybe when you all grow up, you'll realize.

OR, better yet, and most likely what will happen, since it's apparent it already is... "We all" (I'm white, but I assume you mean black people {this part is a joke}) grow up with the same lack of character, immaturity and bad judgment that we have now. That then makes it MOST LIKELY that people who make videos like this will win candidacy.

You're missing the point. This video wasn't made for Cooper or as a political statement. It was made to laugh at, not to get people to vote. If you want a nice, clean political video for Cooper, then by all means go make it yourself. Please let us know how it turns out.

The joke about Smitherman is that she looks like Boss Nass, who lives underwater in the swamps of Naboo. There's no inference to a jungle anywhere. You're fooling yourself if you're trying to make this a racist statement.

And as for making fun of "everything the mayoral office is to stand for", well I think the public deserves to have a little fun here. I mean look at the horrible damage former Mayor, now convicted Felon Langford did to the already fragile state of this city. I am laughing to keep from crying.

The swamps that Smitherman are told to go back to I am pretty sure are located in Zambia, which is in Africa. But if you don't see it is my telling this won't help you see a thing. Also, the quote from the article was "While Cooper said he was flattered by the video supporting his campaign, he said he did not condone the offensive language used to spoof his opponents." Stop cherry picking and get your facts right. That was a denouncement.
