This is so badass dude...AWESOMENESS...your theater is awesome too...and you have some really shitty people leaving shitty comments on your video, their just jealous man!!!
@OWmyDragonballz No. If you're a collector of anything or a LotR fan, this is fucking amazing. The art on the covers are awesome, the box is solid, closes with magnets, and not to mention it comes with a map of Middle-Earth on the inside of the case itself. And you can't say "Just on blu ray", believe me, as a blu ray collector, this is the best picture quality I've EVER seen. And 6.1 surround sound. 6 point fucking one. And there's a new long ass documentary too. Definitely worth getting.
ok i just need a simple answer i own the theatrical versions on blu ray. does the extended version blu rays look better then the first blu ray release. is there a difference in transfers?
@C815richard Overall the video transfer is better, especially the first two movies. There's a green tint issue with the first movie that some fans noticed. It didn't really bother me.
@ImperviousMason the films are encoded at a higher than normal bit rate, 30 megs + per sec, min, so i have read. so the films are too long to fit on one side. it's for the best picture quality as possible
@DumbfoundAdog I agree with Warner Brothers on this. Plus you need that intermission to get up and take a break. The extended versions are really long but great. LOL.
It's called FOCUS! Why did I watch this if you can not even focus on what you are recording!? You suck ass. How the hell did you get a copy? You don't deserve to have Warner Bros. giving you the right to review this. They should have given it to KevJumba!!! You are a disgrace to the NERD community. By the way, "As seen on T.V." usually references some type of shitty ass consumer product that no one gives a hoot about. Do yourself another favor, and quite while you are ahead.
why is it that people constaly buy the same thing over and over i can understand if u havent seen the series but why keep buying not saying i hate the movies i love them
@Superpiair1 I just got this for my dad for father's day - cause you wrote that I had a look and ours (Australia) are the blue cases as well. Kinda annoying.
It all looks good though bar the fact that they put all the special features on DVDs instead of cutting the number of discs down and putting everything on bluray discs.
i don't like the packaging inside, I thought it was like a book, but they are all made of plastic, and can't onfold like the dvd extended version box :(
@zerozordon620 you actually have no discs for the digital copies. If you're using iTunes, you can just go to the "Redeem" page and type in the codes and then they'll download. HUGE files but awesome to have.
This set is definitely the superior set hands down. I watched Fellowship yesterday and was blown away by it. THIS was the set that should have been released first.
@NERDCricket There was a decent crowd. Actually, the first two parts were in a larger theater but the last was in a smaller one. I guess there weren't as many people as expected, but an awesome experience nonetheless.
Im sorry but am I the only one who thinks its complete bullshit that they are still in 2 parts? I thought 1 bluray disc had the space of 6 dvds? Sorry Id just like to watch the extended versions ALL the way without any stops. No PLEASE INSERT DISC 2. Are there 2 discs for the digital copies?
@mitabo I'm not sure if it's region free because I only have a US blu ray player (panasonic and ps3). Regarding the subtitle, I think it's in one of the comments below. Thanks :)
With the Blu-ray extended edition, can you choose to watch either the extended edition or the theatrical trailor? This option is present on the DVD extended edition version, and I am just curious if it's the same on blu-ray. Thank you.
@joseph10704 You're correct. The movie are at least 3.5 hours, with Return Of The King Clocking in around 4 hours I think. I'm sure they could have crammed each movie into one blu ray per title but the video and audio quality would've suffered. So I'd rather get each movie in 2 discs for awesome presentation :)
@abcdfgh123 While the DVD EE edition was great, I like the Blu-ray packaging better. It looks more elegant and the black and gold colors blend really well.

@CoreyBrownReviews Sometimes studios send me movies for reviews and this was one of them. I'm always honest with my reviews and give what I feel is there fair score. It'll probably take me a week before I write up my review for this, there's so much extras and the movies themselves are pretty long.
kickass i wanted to see what the inside of this box set looked lie for ever know and ur lie the first one to give a video of whats inside for real,to me i love all the films i am not a hardcore fan u can say i just think that there are well made films in my eyes lol,i think that this boxset looks cool the black blu rays cases really standout and i am so happy each film got there own case its about time the last set they did was just shit .
@NERDCricket i have to agree wiht u on that 150 million percent buddy i think just for the why it looks i must buy it lol bluray.com gave these 3 films a fantastic rateing when it comes to pq and sq as well as the extras that is packed with this bad ass set,the only thing that i am kinda waiting for to happen is a price drop like i said before 85 bucks is alot and i am not a big fan of the lord of the rings i just injoy the movies of how they were made so thats why i would be buying them lol.
@Sub2Me4Sora The green tint is definitely there, it's most obvious when they're in the mountains with the snow. It's really clear though. The night scenes definitely improved compared to the regular blu ray edition, don't know if the green tint is the cause or the 2k transfer, maybe both.
I just finished watching the first disc and the green tint didn't bug me as much as I thought. I was fully immersed in the movie, the sound is impressive.
@NERDCricket idk if u seen the last version they made but compared to what this blu ray looks like now they say it looks amazing that this is what the last blu ray of the fellowship of the ring sould of looked like before,i cant wait to see what it looks like i am still thinking about waiting for a low price cut tho because right now 85 bucks is alot fo a set i just have to see still cool video.
@joseph10704 FOTR is definitely better in this version. The details is insane, you can see the detailed/carving on Sauron's helmet in the beginning of the flick. The first release was good but not enough details, it looked soft. If you're in the U.S, they might have a sale on Black Friday but that's a long wait...LOL. Either way good luck :)
@backslashio well u got to understand this there is a ton of extra's on the this box set because its the a better edition,so for them to go in and remaster ever single extra would of tankeing them time and alot of money ,also when u look at this when do u have time to watch all of the extra anywhys i mean it is wonderful to have all of those extra cool extras on the boxset but hey what really counts is just how the HD blu ray version look and sound on the films themself right.
