I am really not meaning to step on toes here, but in my opinion, this is hard to believe for two reasons...well i guess two parts of the same reason. That reason is that it is way to obvious in how they clearly show the monster, and also the Cloverfield street sign at the end. if you look back on all of the viral marketing form the original Cloverfield, it was for the most part very vague and not obvious at all. You really had to dig to make a connection to the movie. Please give me opinions:)
You will think it is a prequel, because we have that R U.. Video and later this 0041 Video. But when you look at the tags and what they say, you will have a sequel: R U There? What is there? second Video: found before (the first Video, Santa Monica?). We are telling the Story?

Look up R U THERE cloverfield in google; EVERY SITE says its a fan-made knockoff. And note you havent managed to dismantle any of my practical points; its appearance from nowhere, its lack of noticable noise, (especially its unmistakable stomping steps) lack of screams from surrounding people, it all points at a really shitty editing job of the caliber only a fan-made film can attain. If you have any arguments to rebute the ones i just listed, go for it.
We forget now for a moment that she is filming a Triceratops. When she is filming that Animal, we can see some seconds later a baby. Now she is filming the Water and we see again that baby. Then again the Water and this Animal. And boom, we see Clover and hear the baby in the same time. I think it means: The Animal "baby" from the Water = Clover is alone and calls his Mother ;-) He was in Santa Monica before NY (Cloverfield sign).
This is not the Teaser or the full Trailer. This is only a sign or clue that he was there and not more. They will never use real pictures for that. JJ Abrams said something about a surprise, so he would kill a surprise now with a real picture. We must wait for the next Video... then we can say more, maybe more about the stoty or what this is...
But a Viral is sometimes different like a Trailer or the Movie, with some clues and so. And for a different story is this ok.

Maybe the Baby has lost his Mother there. Maybe she was not the only one there.
Well, the image of the baby juxtaposed with the image of the monster can still easily be seen as a shot by Abrams and the CF staff that the monster from the first movie was actually the child of a larger, more menacing creature. It's been said before that Clover was a baby, and that it's mother would eventually make an appearance. Could this be fake? Absolutely. But, I'm not going to write it off as that just yet.
First off, there's the sloppy introduction of Clover. At 00:29, not there. in 00:30, he's there, and has the visual blockiness of an image thats stuck onto a playing video; like when you try and add pre-made backgrounds in photo booth, or Ichat video.
Second, there's the sound; or rather no sound. No sound of Clover approaching, no roar, no screams of surrounding people, just random sirens. Clover can't teleport, and he's anything but silent. Wake up!
He's not teleporting and he's not silently sneaking up on the video. The block bits are digital glitches that happen with faulty camcorder memory cards.
When this glitch happens it will begin to heavily pixelate the screen, scrambling the current video and the previous video it is recording over into one jumbled image.
In other words, that is a video of him from another time being glitched into a different video.
Also, doubtful it's the same one considering their mass egg-laying process.
Doesn't that seem a little far fetched? I doubt the viral campaigners would purposefully leave all that random glitchy pixelation there just to simulate a faulty memory card.
If that's the effect they were going for, why not just do what they did in the first cloverfield movie, when they would cut to the vacation day every now and again? That was clear cut, with no glitchiness, and it worked at portraying there was an old video in the memory card.
This was filmed at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Cloverfield is a street thats only minutes a way and is home to Universal (i dunno if thats related or not)
The image of the monster is the same image from the movie where it is looking down at Hud. That's why I believe this is fake/fanmade. I hope I am wrong.

True, but if you look at a map of the 3rd Stree Promenade in Santa Monica, CA (where others have said this seems to have been filmed), there is no Cloverfield street there (though interestingly, there is one about 20 blocks away, parallel to the 3rd street promenade). Of course, you may be right and its just a real sign, and I'm reading into it too much!

Wasn't he supposed to go to Japan in the first movie anyway? Looks to me like they're in Japan. Plus, the monster is probably made to be a glitch in the camera, but still, its interesting, fake or not. I hope it's not fake, seeing a second one would be awesome.
it's someones try at makeing something like Cloverfield 0:34 you can see that the "monster" is really baddly masked into the shot, a real studio would of fixed that, but its a good amatuer go at it.

At the 33 second mark on the left hand side when the sort of steamy sound play, it's a human face. I don't think it's the Cloverfield appearing; maybe it's old footage being spliced with this.
I'm a little skeptical to think this is a legit piece of viral marketing, but either way it's fairly well done.

Terrible. It's nice people are excited for the sequel but this is just a cheesy homemade clip. The monster on the horizon was so poorly made that there is no way the studio would send it out.

Not J.J's work at all. Come on,he knows a Cloverfield 2 viral would be a big deal. That people would immediately uncover it. Why beat us over the head with the Cloverfield sign? Why would this look so low rent compared to the clips for the Australian release of the Cloverfield DVD? Don't get me started on the monster. heres what i think. I am a major cloverfield fan. This might be about a japapnese tourist coming to visit america. And they are in a city and the flashbacks are about him or her with them and they're family back in Japan, and everything goes wrong. This is america's monster it wouldn't go to japan. It probably went to another city, and they got caught in the second attack. I hope this is a link to the new movie. OMFG i would be so happy. LOLZ

Well, the image of the baby juxtaposed with the image of the monster can still easily be seen as a shot by Abrams and the CF staff that the monster from the first movie was actually the child of a larger, more menacing creature. It's been said before that Clover was a baby, and that it's mother would eventually make an appearance. Could this be fake? Absolutely. But, I'm not going to write it off as that just yet.

There are several things wrong with this:
First off, there's the sloppy introduction of Clover. At 00:29, not there. in 00:30, he's there, and has the visual blockiness of an image thats stuck onto a playing video; like when you try and add pre-made backgrounds in photo booth, or Ichat video.
Second, there's the sound; or rather no sound. No sound of Clover approaching, no roar, no screams of surrounding people, just random sirens. Clover can't teleport, and he's anything but silent. Wake up!

He's not teleporting and he's not silently sneaking up on the video. The block bits are digital glitches that happen with faulty camcorder memory cards.
When this glitch happens it will begin to heavily pixelate the screen, scrambling the current video and the previous video it is recording over into one jumbled image.
In other words, that is a video of him from another time being glitched into a different video.
Also, doubtful it's the same one considering their mass egg-laying process.

Doesn't that seem a little far fetched? I doubt the viral campaigners would purposefully leave all that random glitchy pixelation there just to simulate a faulty memory card.
If that's the effect they were going for, why not just do what they did in the first cloverfield movie, when they would cut to the vacation day every now and again? That was clear cut, with no glitchiness, and it worked at portraying there was an old video in the memory card.

This was filmed at the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Cloverfield is a street thats only minutes a way and is home to Universal (i dunno if thats related or not)

True, but if you look at a map of the 3rd Stree Promenade in Santa Monica, CA (where others have said this seems to have been filmed), there is no Cloverfield street there (though interestingly, there is one about 20 blocks away, parallel to the 3rd street promenade). Of course, you may be right and its just a real sign, and I'm reading into it too much!

At the 33 second mark on the left hand side when the sort of steamy sound play, it's a human face. I don't think it's the Cloverfield appearing; maybe it's old footage being spliced with this.
I'm a little skeptical to think this is a legit piece of viral marketing, but either way it's fairly well done.

This was shot in Santa Monica California on the Third street promenade. i know cus i worked in front of that triceratops for three years on the restaurant near by.
Curious enough, Cloverfield the street IS in Santa Monica but 3 miles down from 3rd street.

heres what i think. I am a major cloverfield fan. This might be about a japapnese tourist coming to visit america. And they are in a city and the flashbacks are about him or her with them and they're family back in Japan, and everything goes wrong. This is america's monster it wouldn't go to japan. It probably went to another city, and they got caught in the second attack. I hope this is a link to the new movie. OMFG i would be so happy. LOLZ
