If anyone hasn't listened to the rest of DeVotchka's music I would strong recommend it so you can understand why I felt that the lead singer's voice (Nick Urata) would have been a better option for Jack's Lament. Just skipping forward on this song along to 1:40 should give you an idea on how amazing his voice is and that's just him humming/crooning!

Saw the actual sets of Nightmare Before Christmas at a local museum exhibit, quite impressive, it was as though you were watching the movie. The miniature sets were very detailed. I think the exhibit is traveling all over the country if you're interested.

The original soundtrack is a masterpiece like all burton/elfman colaborations, covers are what they say they are, covers, and thats all they will be. This song was close to doing it justice though. How it ends is a great tune.

Musically, this is my favorite track on this CD. It goes in a different style of the originals but it retains the original feel of the tunes all too well. I've come to really like Devotchka in the past couple of months mainly because of their dedication to more obscure instruments and how, overall, they have a sort of "trademark" sound to their music.
