I loved Curved Air in the 70's, especially loved Sonja's voice. Wonderful to see they have regrouped and are reviving some of their old songs. Sonja you are looking good girl :)
Curved Air topped the bill at my Fresher's Ball (4/10/71). Sonja and the rest of the band were first class. A great evening which I still remember after countless other great evenings which have faded from memory !
Saw Curved Air in Derby in the mid 70's FANTASTIC (Never heard of them before so just turned up at a gig (Those we're the days) Sonja has lived in my memory ever since and I wish I had followed them a lot more. To this day I still rave on about Curved Air and Sonja.
Hi Total respect, I have most of your albums , Back street love should be revamped and released in all kinds of format so everyone can get to hear the cool folk rock that was great for me. I have only just come across this site and found it very interlesting.RESPECT.

@SteffanLlwyd Thought it was after they released Midnight Wire - so must have been 1975 - I was there too - in the Great Hall (if that is what it was called on the top of the hill campus) as usual only disgusting Newcastle Brown Ale to drink - but Curved Air were superb
@guyosborn Oh wow, that's great to get a mesage from someone who was there too. I'm trying to remember who was the support band. My wife and I were on 'Blue Nun', by the way. Booze in Aberystwyth was awful. Other bands seen then at UCWA Osibisa, Barclay James Harvesy (bomb scare) Desmond Dekker, Queen (bad sound / walked-out!), Sutherland Bros and Quivver, Thin Lizzie, Gasworks, Kersal Flyers, Geordie, Black Oak Arkansas, Man, Alkatraz, Band Called 'O', Brewers Droop, Randy Pie. Ahhhh....
@SteffanLlwyd You left before Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, George Melley? I can't remember the support band either...I do remember Sonja Kristina had a hole in her stockings/tights though. I may have been there after you - 74-78 (or was it 75 - 79? - like the 60s, if you can remember, then you weren't there!) - saw Slade too - had never been a fan of theirs but thought their live performance was fabulous - they gave it absolutely everything
@guyosborn '74-77. Slade played in '74...could't go cos you had to have sold £10 in raffle tickets to qualify. Saw Melley in Canterbury later, plus Cado Belle (the best live sound engineering I ever heard). Did you see the Jonathan Kelly band in the King's Hall, Aberystwyth? .... solo first half and fantastic second half with the full band I remembered Man and Iceberg played in the King's Hall too, not the Great Hall. Not forgetting Roger Chapman's Streetwalkers in Theatre y Werin
There are millions of people out there that think they deserve their story be told...or people that believe that someone else's story should be told. Who cares? Curved Air had a place in English rock history. Maybe a small part but good enough to sell over 15 different albums. As far a jsilence418 goes...if you find no importance to the band or Sonja, what are you doing checking out these videos? A closet fan? Sonja wouldn't fall in love with you? You've probably not made much of yourself.
I've loved her voice since I bought the Curved Air albums in the 70s. I saw them perform at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpoool, an incredible gig! The surround sound in Vivaldi near made your head explode!
Baldbollocks, singers don't retire just because they're old. It' s clear to me that you are as shallow as it comes and never listened to her beforre. So, why don't you try to show some respect and drag your sorry carcass to another place of your interest?

I saw curved air at the central hall in chatham, kent 1972 (they were selling the Phantasmagoria album). stewart copeland played drums. They had released back street luv a few months previously. It was a great gig and i came away happy and yes, she was (is) a beautiful woman. I brought the album which i listerned to endlessly.
Don't think she was married to Stewart Copeland. He was drummer in Curved Air at one time and I believe they lived together and were an item at the time. I recall seeing them at the Roundhouse, probably in 1976, watching Greenslade (whose bassist, Tony Reeves, was also in Curved Air) and they certainly looked like a couple.
Yes she was Copeland married Curved Air vocalist Sonja Kristina in 1982. They divorced in the early 1990s. Copeland lives in Los Angeles with his second wife, Fiona Dent.
Wonderful to see Curved Air back, in my opinion they were a vastly underated band!! Had a few of their albums in the 70's, the best being "Air Cut" and "Phantasmagoria" Love this band, Sonja Kristina still beautiful as ever, a big welcome back !!!!!!!!
@scotchrumour@josefresko Copeland was romantically involved with Curved Air vocalist Sonja Kristina beginning in 1974, and they were married from 1982 to 1991. Copeland adopted Kristina's son Sven from a prior relationship, and they had two more sons together, Jordan and Scott.
This is a wonderful woman...she looks fantastic, she is focused and wildly informative. I played bass in that band for a couple years and I can tell you that this is one classy chick. Rambling mess? You're an idiot. This woman has lived 3 lifetimes full of music and adventure....and you, jordiballs (what a clever name), what the hell have you done in life besides come up with a stupid user id that probably explains what you have in your mouth on the weekends and maybe on the weekdays as well.
@notToast Boy you got me nottoast. And how did you know that partyboy is my real nickname? How did you come up with such a clever user I.D.? Way better than mine. Idiots like you should stay off comment pages that people enjoy.
@kohnhed Yeah thats great, but apart from being married to Stewart Copeland, does she deserve a "story" not likely .methinks you have an exaggerated sense of self importance curved air ? uh sure.
Totally agree. Take a look at this interview on YT: Elkie Brooks interview - June 2007
For an idea of how mesmerizing coherent, articulate and youthful a 1970's rock chick can look like today.!! Then find the YT vid of Vinegar Joe - Honky Woman.
She should breed again and have children with Keith Emerson. Wonderful, seventies, talented, groovy prog rock children with weird names and clothing. Yeah.
