  • This video was a treat man :)

  • Great video!

  • I guess Columbia is lagging behind everyone else when it comes to child labor laws. And any sort of technology apparently. And hygiene standards.

  • The equipment and process is perfectly fine & hygienic for making panela. The temperature of sugar cane juice clearly reaches over 100 degrees & is cooked for a long period time ensuring any bacteria would be well & truly killed. From my limited knowledge on bacteria effecting sugar I can say its not an issue as sugar is not a food source for bacteria (correct me if I am wrong). If meat products where being manufactured in that location shown in the video I would be concerned about hygiene.

  • @DELUXEMASTERBLASTER You're right, I work at a meat processing plant as a HACCP Coordinator and ensure that meat products are processed in a safe and hygienic manner as mandated by government regulations. These people have been producing this type of product for years using the same method with see in the video, from a food safety point of you, I can tell you that this facility would never pass any federal inspection as you can clearly see that propersanitation procedures for equipment are....

  • @DELUXEMASTERBLASTER ....nearly non-existent. Still, due to the high temperatures at which the product is exposed; many of the bacteria present would most likely be destroyed in the process. Dangerous bacteria usually comes from meat products, most food poisoning is not a result of eating the bacteria, but toxins formed as the bacteria breaks down proteins. These toxins will usually be still present even after food is thoroughly cooked.

  • Azuca!!!

  • This is the way eveyrthing should be made. This is pure organics right here. How is this ill? How is that in a nation like NOrth America, whom has the best factory equipments still has to make recalls on their "synthetic" foods and meats because of e. coli, salmonela etc..?BUt you all eat it? This should inspire farmers of this nation of N AMerica who spray cancer causing agents to our veg hormonal meats synthetic food..THAT to me is "ill".

  • small factory with not so hygienic equipment. yeah I can see the bamboo piping that channel the liquid.

    Thanks for the video.
