Ime in training now at Catterick, that bayonet training is fukin sick... Trainings hard at times but u jus smash threw it as a platoon as a section or as an individual.... Recommend the army to anyone!!!!!
@MrGingster hey...im thinking of joining. Im 14 , just the push ups which are putting me off; I heard if you cant get the correct amount , they put you back like 3 weeks and you have to wait for the next PT Test.
Any tips on pushups? Im doing them every day; twice a day along with abdominal excercises.
And the 1.5 Mile run? =/ Any tips would help dude!
Hopefully joining next year, anyone got any pointers or tips? Been a cadet for a few years so I have a rough idea of what to expect, but aside from that anything I should know?
cant wait to get goin im just waiting to hear back about the medical form from the doctors n then will get ma second interview with recruiter gunna be best day of my life when i get a date when i start ma trainin :)
@MrXblink you'd fee like a dick doing it ? @lea1mercian lol I hope so! Wanna get a bit more cardio done b4 I start tho, like someone said to me "you don't wanna scrape through Phase 1, u wanna piss it!" haha
@sinato Yeah man passed at glencorse a few weeks ago! I struggled a bit with the fitness side of it but i showed enough determination and teamskills and had enough character to get a decent grade :) start at ITC on feb 5th. Cant wait!
@djseanyp86 Sweet congratulations! I hope to have my Pre ADSC soon, but my medical docs are taking their time...apparently they lost my forms so now i'm sitting here a bit frustrated lol. Once that's through though i'm off and on my way to becoming a soldier!

hey lads, reading some of these comments are making me look forwards to going, got my selection very shortly, can do my mile and a half in 9:25 :) im 17 going for the RROS 5 SCOTS based in cantenbury, il be in catterick or 26 weeks :)
bunch of girls, try doing it with Para Coy, its the hardest, coldest thing u will ever do in ur army training, theres no aggression whatsoever with them lot, the Para training staff, thrash u so much and hurt u so much u can even feel ur own body, and the'v got the engarde and highport drills wrong once the'v stabbed the intended target
@NemesisMarine01 That's right. And in the paras they cut ya legs off to make the 10 miler more difficult. AND we had to wrestle crocodiles with our arms behind our back before we could wear our cherry berets. Then before passing out we had to drink the blood of 10 kittens we killed with our eyelids. Prat.
@MikeysReviews, all i can say is head down mate, don't listen to them shouting at you. and always give 110% thats all you can do really! good luck mate.

best of luck with whatever your joining:D 2nd battalion royal anglians for moi
this is for the thick twats who have never been in the army and dont have a clue what they are on about, for the knob who said 'why scream at someone and give them the chance to shoot you', well numpty, you WOULDNT, the point of the screaming is to get the recruit to an aggresive state of mind, this is done over and over, at the end of this what you get is a British Infantryman who is confident,aggresive and scared of nothing,this is the hardest bayonet course in the world.
I know this is just training but thought I would throw it out there. If you ever actually needed to use a bayonet wouldn't you want to sneak up on them before thay shoot you instead of screaming at them forever.
my section had the record for the obstacle course, fastest of any Guards Coy section i forget what the exact time was but i like it was like 9:20 or something
i did the winter course, the excercises were pure hell, passed out in 2000 during the foot and mouth, brings back some memories seeing this too, good vid, wish i had my training vid still, any idea where i can get hold of it, even tho it was years ago?
@mitz657 Haha foot and mouth, was there same time as you, remember having to tab back in to the garrison because of the petrol shortage, was not happy!
@JoshRenny im not joinin the infantry but the royal armoured and i was just wonderin wat the pre selection coarse was like. or is it different for the infantry?
I think you'll find that most standard military weapons used in most countries all use the same 5.56 × 45 mm NATO round so in effect each gun is no more powerfull than the next.
Again i agree that the SA80 isnt the best choice of weapon the armed forces could use but this is there weapon of choice since the 80's and although they have been considered unreliable a lot of changes have been made to try justify those defects with jamming in different weather climates etc hence why the MOD still use them.
Have you ever been in the armed forces ? i have and know plenty of people who are still serving there time in the armed forces and know just as many who are in the process of joining.
The MOD cant be that low on budgets when they are employing and training new recruits.
Because of the recession more and more people have joined the armed forces.
Although i agree about the SA80 they have many problems and aren't a great choice for left handed people but they do the job
The training provided in the british army is a lot longer and better than other countries like US etc so those who have no experience with guns learn to become competant in using a firearm.
So in reality it wouldn't matter how much experience someone has with guns as they learn how to use a firearm aswell as how to strip clean and maintain there own weapon.
the UK still has guns just laws on owning firearms are much stricter than they were 10 or 20 years ago
@leeham991 well ive had abit of o play about with this and made a mock political party called the British Open House Party, there certain rules and regs politicians have to abide by (if you want i can give even more details) and then i addressed National Service, Crime and Prisons, Welfare, National Health Service, Health Hygiene and Safety, Human rights and things like that. I think the country has gone soft, we need some bite back in this country. Ill send you a private message
@leeham991 very true but we can't have a the Conservatiives in power either because they will leave the British Army high and dry like bloody thatcher did. I dont know if the Lib Dems could be trusted. If it doesn't get sorted I think we need conscription, if we loose our army there will be countries wanting these islands not to mention terrorist activity would increase ten fold. I also dont like this cutting corners business they've been doing aswell, the jackal is a disgrace.
i wouldnt bother applying mate, the goverenment cant afford any more soilders so you will just be wasting your time. And its all your best effort in 2 minutes ofr everything its fucking easy
They let women join the british infantry?

this is for the thick twats who have never been in the army and dont have a clue what they are on about, for the knob who said 'why scream at someone and give them the chance to shoot you', well numpty, you WOULDNT, the point of the screaming is to get the recruit to an aggresive state of mind, this is done over and over, at the end of this what you get is a British Infantryman who is confident,aggresive and scared of nothing,this is the hardest bayonet course in the world.

that it walk not run when agery and about to be killed
jmc12397 1 year ago
I know this is just training but thought I would throw it out there. If you ever actually needed to use a bayonet wouldn't you want to sneak up on them before thay shoot you instead of screaming at them forever.

@MrYohanStrauss its just to show aggresion and motivation really, they dont expect you to shout like that on the battlefield

I think you'll find that most standard military weapons used in most countries all use the same 5.56 × 45 mm NATO round so in effect each gun is no more powerfull than the next.

@Lunarlaserranging
Again i agree that the SA80 isnt the best choice of weapon the armed forces could use but this is there weapon of choice since the 80's and although they have been considered unreliable a lot of changes have been made to try justify those defects with jamming in different weather climates etc hence why the MOD still use them.
dolanm56 2 years ago
@Lunarlaserranging
My guess is those real elite you talk about will pay for there own custom weapons and clothes.
Even when i was in the army a lot of people paid to have clothes customed tailored.
Although the MOD dont issue left hand SA80's heckler & koch do have a conversion kit for the SA80 to convert it to a left hand rifle.
Im assuming if you were willing to pay for it then it might be allowed as you have the same rifle throughout your entire service as a soldier
dolanm56 2 years ago
@Lunarlaserranging

Is that the same old shitty grey HI-TECH trainers i see these guys wearing like the ones they used to issue during basic training back in 1997 ?
dolanm56 2 years ago
@Lunarlaserranging

FletchRDG 2 years ago
@leeham991 very true but we can't have a the Conservatiives in power either because they will leave the British Army high and dry like bloody thatcher did. I dont know if the Lib Dems could be trusted. If it doesn't get sorted I think we need conscription, if we loose our army there will be countries wanting these islands not to mention terrorist activity would increase ten fold. I also dont like this cutting corners business they've been doing aswell, the jackal is a disgrace.
