Wow a lot of Internationals My county has over 800 buses! Are fleet is made up of Thomas HDX's, C2's, and the occasional mvp. With either Cat, Mercedes or Cummins in them. . But mainly HDX's but those are slowly getting replaced with the c2s. Nothin but thomases!
@9sb19 My daily rider is a HDX with a cat C7. We had a Hdx with a Mercedes in it but we were given a new one. The Mercedes sound awsome but it has no power. The cat in the hdx is powerful but dosent sound awsome. Rode in a C2 with a cummins the other day and that has a boat load of power way faster (even with the epa crap) then the HDX. I rode in internationals long time ago that looked like #34 in ur vid. I dont like the front engine buses, i perfer the rear engine or traditional.
You should try a HDX with the Cummins 6.7; I bet that's beast. Powerful and sounds sexy. I love rear engine buses, too. I love them all from conventionals to front and rear transits. They are all awesome and unique.
Just how some were speced. In TN, it wasn't mandatory until 2010 that all type D schools buses had to have crossing gates. I think type Cs had to have them in 2007 or so. So the years are some of the reasons here. But some are either broken or they never came with one.
Oh, I know, lol. I'd love some 2 holed rims and chrome lug nuts and the center cap on my bus, lol. He'd look even better.
My bus has always had 5 holed rims. Now it has one set of duals, the driver side rear duals, are 2 holed. I don't mind it, but I'd prefer it if it were all 5 or all 2
@9sb19 actually it has come to my attention that M12 has 2 holed in back and 5 holed in fornt, it was switched last year, but i don't worry about it anymore, i ride a vision now
The only other bus I've seen with 23's style of rims are some of our Special Education buses. I honestly hate them; I prefer either 5 or 2 holed rimes. With the exception of older buses with spoke rims.
@9sb19 i'd live to have them, all we get around here are 2 holed rims, but alot of our buses, excluding the one i ride, have chrome rims, so i guess i can't complain
Live to have which ones? Naw, you can't really complain with chrome rims, lol. I love my black ones, but they'd look damn sweet with some chrome lug nuts and a cap over the axle, lol.
I wonder what would happen if a School Bus was given 2 straight HKS turbo kits with an Injen inter-cooler, a super-boosted power chip and a full racing transmission.... Would it be legal to drive kids to school in it?
I would assume that it would make the bus illegal. However, that would be pretty fun to try out, lol. I think that would make the bus faster, and stronger, than a car is.
No, you know some.. and it can be stretched. Technically, yes. School buses are stronger than cars, however.. they don't have the speed. Depending on the state, depends on the govenor on the bus. Some in my district can only run 64, while some can do 70, 72, or the few that can push 85. A state like NC, all school buses are goverened at 45, which is stupid. But depends on the state for speed.
Depends on where you live. Usually there's a dealer close by you some times. I know where I live, there's the plan out in OK and then an IC dealer in Nashville called Cumberland.
There are roughly 75 buses in my fleet. But only half of those buses go to every school, such as the high school. It doesn't really take that long. It takes about 30 minutes for the bus loading area to be cleared of all students. In my county, it's very efficient and other schools do it like this too.
It's just all in the specs. The TD specs them to have certain looks and features. We have C2s that are mixed with stainless steele and a brushed crome grille, it's just the specs.
hmm..thats a strange line up...only in that usually all the buses are already there waiting when school lets out...with a few stragglers...never seen it like this where they just keep on coming and going! interesting!
@pk33617, we have it done like this because most of the buses, besides for a few that only pick up at a desired school, have another 5, or 6 depending on if a child is present at the alternative school. So you have to race to 6 schools in 30 minutes all over town.
We take all the kids, from K-12, on the same bus together.
Yeah, they are an awesome engine. Just kind of sucks they aren't too popular in buses now. I really loved having a Ford come pick me up with a 5.9 in it. It is a brute of an engine. I sure do love them and miss them.
Lol, they'd give you an estimate of 700 pounds. My driver said my IC CE with the DT466 has 750 pounds. It's true, but not quite exact, I believe. But it's got over 250 horses, too.
They have to know the functions of the parts on it. Like the air compresser and wiper fluid and things like that. But do they know about the actual engine it self, no, not really.
I am actually not for sure about it. But from judging how it is, I'd say he caught his bumper on a curb or osmething as he came out of a drive or going down one. Maybe on a pole or pulled it on a car. I am not for sure and I think he just doesn't care. I think he needs to have it fixed though.

Yeah, and I love them to death, lol. Wow! No Way?! That's awesome. I like the HDXs. How are they?
You should try an International, lol. They're awesome.

I still love the HDX. They look amazing.

@9sb19 I ride in a c2 now with a 6.7 cummins its so quiet. Very powerful too.
crazyjdkid 5 months ago
They are epically quiet. However, I'll stay on my DT466 and we'll see who packs power :P

love the look of 34, our fleet is almost all 3800 series bluebirds ranging from 1992-2005, and a few 2nd generation visions too!
EVERYTHINGus3 11 months ago
I love those Blue Bird Internationals, on the 3800s. They're nice. 34 is a bit run down, compared to 31 and 10. But I still like it.

Why some buses don't have crossing arms?

a few of our buses have that setup on there rims too, it is a sweet look

What the 2 or 5 holed rims? I do hope you're not referring to the 23 holed rims.
9sb19 1 year ago
@9sb19 the 2 holed rims w/ chrome lugnuts and chrome Caps, M8, and M24 has them, front and back
M12 has 5 holed rims in the back tho

How do you like the Vision?
I ride a 2008 Thomas EF that has miss matched rims. Some are 2, others are 5. I'd prefer to have them all the same.

i have never seen rims like the ones on 23!

This is all taken in South Western Tennessee, about 50 miles out of Memphis on I-40. Yup, I really talk like one.

Like the 5.9 sounds like to hard core of a motor to put in a bus. just look up 12 valve 5.9 on youtube and youll see what i mean.
