Lyrics: Quel passagier son io che vo cercando in te, mia bella, amore e fé, e sol ritrovo, oh Dio, rigore e crudeltà.
Taf289
I've listened to this piece like a hundred times already and can't seem to get enough of it. How funny that after two years of discovery I still keep listening and there's not a lot of music can possibly do that to me nowadays. Precious music sung by a godlike-voiced countertenor, good gracious, what a perfect match.
I think he is very good, but I still find it difficult to hear male countenors. There is something in the sound that I don´t like. Anyway, he does allways top performances. Thanks for posting
ppl, if you like him and would like to hear an other male soprano, who became famous this year, then just search this here on youtube: "Vásáry André 5th element"
And if you like him, please comment or rate and i will answer you:)).
Years ago I heard you sing in Montisi /Italy in a concert organized from Bruce.
And now for almost tree years I open YouTube with this aria and your angel like voice fills for some instants my room like a breeze of cherry blossoms hovering over a construction zone, till the last vibration of tone is vanishing
Countertenor Philippe Jaroussky is an uncontested specialist of baroque music, but here he is changing course, sailing into completely new waters: the repertoire of French song. Still in evidence are the fundamental qualities of his voice: purity of line, precise execution, intelligent reading of the text. But he has also found the right tone, delicate yet unmannered, for this other musical style
Hey, thanks! I'd really want to sing these cantatas.
I left Texas some 10 months ago, though.. But, I agree that Texas and even the whole US in general needs more baroque singers, musicians and enthusiasts.
Scholl is my favorite countertenor, but i love Jaroussky as well, why people keep trying to make one winner from them?they both have their own unique voice. none of them is replaceable. thanks for this.
am a singing teacher...and think you are wrong...he has a really pure tone...and so suited to this style of music and singing....there are so many many delicate moments
I have to agree with you. Just watch his version of Handel's "A Dispetto". He is supossed to be mad with rage, but try as he might to at least look furious, he only looks cute:))) It is strange about him. Seems to me he doesn't have a lot of insight into the text or to the roles he sings as a whole character. Or he is just too young and needs more dramatic direction.
How old is Jaroussky? You do a perfect analysis of his voice. Especially in hight note his voice is little and screeching. He cant sing music after 1600. How destroy a singer! Who is your favourite countertenor? Ciao
Haha! when I said "cute" I didn't mean it as most of his fans mean. No, indeed I think he looks very silly for a grown man. I meant "cute" like a teddy bear or sth.. YOu know, he convinces you that he is furious as much as a teddy bear can, lol! I heard him to be 27 or 31, but don't know for a fact. But that age is very young for an opera singer.
My favorite is doubtless Scholl. A very close 2nd is Ragin, in fact I'm split between them. These guys have some expression in their singing, and have nothing to do with glamour and spotlight. Art as pure as you can get it! I like others in different aspects, Kowalski, Jacobs, Christofelis, Bowman, Deller, Daniels, etc. But to me Scholl is the best by far not only among countertenors, but accross the board as an artist, performer, scholar, pioneer and as a plain ordinary person.
Scholl is very professional, Kowalski is incredible on stage and his voice is beautifull, i do not like Jacobs ...he has a strange voice..You know any italian countertenor? Claudio Cavina is very good.He was my teacher. :-)
I don't know any Italian ones. I'm extremely interested in this voice type and I'd like to listen to him as well. I heard a lot of amateur countertenors that I really liked but the thing is, these guys are very shy about public reaction in general (if they're not shy, they are famous, lol!), they only sing when nobody's around! Such a shame! There's a guy at work who sings along sometimes. when I hear him, I think my heart's gonna stop! But he's more secure doing customer service, lol!
I don't agree. Meanwhile PJ isn't properly an actor, but a singer, and his voice is extraordinary live. He's 29 years old and singing on stage from 21. If you see Ragin's "A dispetto" you can note difference in to pass from head voice and chest voice (it's very rough). Scholl has a very beautiful voice live but small compared with PJ's. BTW he's releve for Daniels and Scholl, and his voice is still winning in depth.
You must have to see him in rehearsals: he enchants until a regisseurs cause he marks a great technical difference and in voice beauty with the rest. His high note is beautiful, like a child. And he has the same vocal range as Daniels. I recommend you to hear him live. And I'm studying countertenor voices... and I have heard many of them live. Regards.
I think he has extraordinarily beautiful voice, but nevertheless he lacks expression for the most part. I would love to hear him live, unfortunately here in the US, specially in Texas, we don't get much of cultural venues.. I believe he is going to become a really great artist in time.. But for dramatic roles, I don't think he has the necessary depth of emotion coming across yet.. But that's just my opinion.
I can tell you that in live concerts he enchants and captures the audience, musically and expressively. In addition, most of the roles he has done in opera are not dramatic. BTW, he is not considered himself a major dramatic player. I don't think that Scholl or Daniels or Ragin be good actors... Perhaps Kowalski.
Like I said I was never able to go to his concerts, I have only watched some of his live footagea and he seems very shallow as far as expression.. You may be right about the difference between the real thing and a recorded concerts.. Daniels certainly isn't a good actor.. Ragin.. I never saw him act, but I know he can voice act. So can Scholl and Daniels, especially in his recent work.
The sweetest aria of the album : BUY IT !!! Quel passagier son io che vo cercando in te, mia bella, amore e fé, e sol ritrovo, oh Dio, rigore e crudeltà.
