Only in the GBA varient of this, Like Like (litteral ones) will be at the shield shop, and they can eat your Mirror Shield, and you use Ether for freeze em, and smack them with your sword and your shield be blue. And if you lose your mirror shield and couldnt get it back, buy it at the Shield shop for 100 rupees.

Aaactually--

Pickitt Plants, the monster you see there, can only eat Bombs, Arrows, Ruppees, Lv1 and Lv2 Shield, on the GBA version they added the REAL Like-Likes at the Shield Shop area at which they'll eat ALL shields including the Mirror.

Note that if you go into a shop where they sell red shields, then your shield will turn red again (even if you don't buy one).

yes you can give it to the dwarves to temper it, but you cannot be with out a sheild and a sword. I know, I tried to defeat the game without them both. Didn't work.

If my memory serves me right you can actually buy a red sheild in a shop. Don't ask me which one I haven't got to that point in the game for years. I have just started playing again though. Just about half way through getting the fifth crystal and princess right now.

yes you can lose your sword if you go to dwarfs house they take your sword and power it up for you it takes a few minutes so youll be without your sword for that time.
