He's been studying Ichigo's technique for years (by reading JUMP) AND his swordsmanship is far superior to Ichigo's random swinging-his-weapon-around style.

If you look at his fights closely you will see that Ichigo has skill and finesse he's also a thinking. The only time he was ever randomly swinging is in the very beginning. By the time he finished SS arc and fought Byakuya he mastered swordsmanship
